Serious thanks for everyone's support, didn't expect this to take off! This was meant to be an equipment test for the Juno more than anything else, so I'm glad it's encouraged some of you to get a hand on this powerhouse of a workstation and delve into the phrase pad. I just wish I put in more on the performance side and picked a better bass sound haha! A lot of questions to answer so I might do a runthrough video to help some of you out, so watch this space! But to answer some of them in the meantime: - I'd definitely recommend this synth, particularly for 80s-style synth-filled music - which seems to be making a resurgence as of recent. - That is a naughty Floyd solo in the middle (always take risks)! Keyboards aren't normally great at accurately replicating other instruments, but the clean guitar sound on this is fantastic. - Unfortunately you can't record a mic input into the pattern sequencer - but you CAN plug your mic in and even use it as a USB audio interface, which more than compensates for it! - We do have hamburgers and fries in England but we call french fries 'chips'. If you like this video, please consider donating so I can keep this music thing going. Any donations, no matter how small, would be massively appreciated. paypal.me/tommonksmusic Cheers again and catch you all soon! T x

I was wondering why the algorithm suggested this video for me (ok, had watched some synth-videos, that must be it) but I'm definitely delighted I watched this. Excellent one-man-band action that had all kinds of interesting happening all the time. I also definitely liked the Pink Floyd-part played in - bravo! And on top of everything your vocals sounded excellent! You sure have a earned a like and I will check your other stuff as well...

Really cool 😎👍🏼. I just purchased the DS-88 yesterday. It is my first 88 Hammer action keyboard ever. I will incorporate it into my musical array of sounds and instruments. I actually do similar thing on my channel where I practice with the different gear instruments that I have and use the channel just to express my practice sessions. Cheers from California US👌🏼💪🏼

Best demo and cover of the juno ds88 . I'm a guitar player and have the ds61 to do some easy backing for band . I was looking to upgrade to 88 semi weighted keys and tried other synths . All way to complicated for live gigging and twice as expensive . I like the simplicity of the juno ds 88 and simple sequencer at this price point . I also like the rs 2000 , way better piano but no sequencer or drums and twice the price . Any I ther recommendations . Tried the the korg nautilus and it took five minutes to boot up . Most likely going with ds88

so you can record and play complete songs with intro, verse, bridge, and chorus with this beauty?
@TomMonksMusic4 жыл бұрын
In theory, yes you could with a lot of songs! Although it'd ultimately depends on how complex the song's structure is, being limited to 8 different parts with a max of 8 bars each. So songs that are based on a bass/drum/chord loop, yes definitely! Which paves the way for a lot of famous songs. But something like Good Vibrations or Rhapsody in Blue might be a different story haha

I'm thinking about picking one of those keyboards up.... Would you recommend it?
@TomMonksMusic3 жыл бұрын
Good question .... honest review coming up! It really depends what you need and what kind of genres you play. It's great for synth-type stuff, a true powerhouse in that aspect. And perfect for cover bands especially with the split and sampler function, and even Richard Tandy from ELO uses one live! But if you do jazz, blues etc and require realistic piano and hammond sounds, I'd honestly advise looking into other options. Those ones in it and in the expansion packs are more than enough to get by in pubs and small gigs, but anything bigger than that, the 80s/90s-ness of the sounds became a bit too noticeable for my liking. That's where this keyboard honestly didn't suit my tastes and needs in the long run (unless using as a controller for MainStage etc), but if I had continued with the 80s/cover band route it would have been perfect. In short - the sounds can be (in my opinion) a little dated, albeit charmingly so, and if that's what you're after, it's the best! It's capable of a lot too. Just listen to as many demos as you can, especially of the sounds you plan on using. Bestest with your keyboard ventures!
