I saw spoiler comments a while ago about her death being pathetic and in vain, but clearly they were typing out of their rear end. She went down swinging and left a crater in AFO/Shigaraki's powerset. It's not quite the same as Supergirl in the original Crisis event, but it is very close to that energy.

Yeah. If they had her in the final war it would've made it a lot easier to end things quickly. I think that's why she had to die in plot terms. But the fact is she also managed to set back both AFO users by destroying many of their quirks and disrupting the bond between the two as well as denying them a potentially powerful asset to their arsenal. Ultimately this was a defeat for AFO and Shigaraki. Even if they killed Star, they failed their main object to acquire New Order and lost other quirks in the process. Just an overall loss. AFO screaming she was a cheater was so satisfying 😂

I love Star and Stripes but someone explain this question that has been bugging me? She has the ability to create 2 new rules (so she usually has super human strength and uses the other rule to do what she pleases). So when Shigaraki takes her quirk she put a new rule on it that it will rage against any other quirk it comes in contact with (which is does) but what about the second rule? Could she not have thought of a rule that her body doesn’t disintegrate so therefore saving her life? Maybe she just didn’t think in the moment as she was in a life/death scenario but just a question that i was pondering. If anyone could help explain I’d be really thankful ✨

While the scene itself is cool.... in the grand scheme of things, I'm not sure what the purpose of this was, on a narrative level, considering it doesn't accomplish much. *Spoilers for Manga only* In the end, much later we find that this isn't even half the quirks AFO has stolen over the years, he keeps coming back over and over again, and the New Order is lost forever. But if this scene was never introduced, nothing about the story's pace or moments would change from here on. While cool, its something of a waste. Even the heroes who rally from America *AFTER* the war don't mention her or her power, but the jet fighters do return to help Deku so.... that is something I suppose. Still, just felt like such a waste of a seriously cool power.

My best guess from a narrative standpoint is to show why the other nations won't come to help. One of, if not the most powerful hero in the world at this point, puts a dent into the villain but isn't successful in defeating them, so the other nations don't want to waste their top heroes in a fight they see as unwinnable and currently not their problem. A secondary narrative point is to show just how influential All Might has been across the world in a more...tangible way. From a world building standpoint, I think showing New Order is just there to show the extent of what a power can be in this kind of world, that something like this could exist. It really is a waste of a cool power and a really cool character. If we could have had Star and Stripe for most of a season, I think it would have been awesome, but she served her need of showing how crafty the enemy is, causing a set back, and showing that the world will hold to their own when it isn't their direct problem.

She can only really affect physical things and make it so they can't be and/or are forced to change in a way she can imagine. If she can't imagine the quirks just...disappearing, she can't enact that kind of change. She can tell her quirk to rage against the other quirks because she can imagine them fighting Ala the animation scene. The quirks are physical in nature since they are a gene splices I would suspect thanks the science they have shown us. The power is still super OP bs that just happened to be used against someone that had a frayed enough psyche (AKA Plot Amor) for it to not really affect them correctly within the rules that they established for the power. Literally anyone else (except may be twice because again, insane and unsure of who they really are) and she wins, no question.
