There are 2 lines at the OG cafe du monde. That line you saw was for table service. If you cut through that line you'll see the take out line on the other side of the building and it'll be shorter and faster

I'm always happy to see others enjoy what our city has to offer. On the next visit, come when the locals restaurants have annual festival. Different Nola signature dishes with a unique twist and the prices fair for the 5star dishes. Next festival should start in the beginning of fall season but u can check see the dates. If anybody wants to try cafe du monde and don’t want to wait in that big line in the French Market, go to the one that’s near the art museum. Went there and there were plenty of people eating there, but basically no line! Definitely going to have to try Loretta’s whenever I go back 🫡
