This place is bad, there are shootings in these same streets in this video that you think are so charming and beautiful. They put tourists in danger by inviting them to a street war zone. Bourbon House at the beginning, went there for lunch on my second trip to N'Orleans. God that place was good. Nice to see KPauls is still there too. We went there for my mom's birthday post cruise on our first time in the Big Easy. Damn fine jalapeno cornbread, and I think I had the blackened filet mignon...I can't remember exactly, must have been 15 years ago when Paul Prudhomme was still alive cuz I remembered seeing him there that night. And of course the famous Cafe Du Monde. Our legs would automatically take us there every morning for cafe au lait and beignets.French Quarter Market. Pre-Katrina it was packed front to back. Vendors would have to setup outside even. Post-Katrina 2 years, I saw it at only 60%.on a weekend. This really saddened me, I think I still have a couple of really nice hand drawn prints of St Louis Cathedral purchased from the Market.

As someone who lives in an old European city it most definitely does not look like that. Some buildings on some streets look old and European but you can find that in most US cities. The rest, which is the vast majority of it, looks like it was built in the last several decades. Nothing wrong with that.
