I'm in England listening to music played by Japanese musicians based on hymns sung by Africans in the USA from a religion which came from Palestine. What a wonderful world!

Congratulations on a wonderful rendition of this New Orleans standard. Used to play it with my little New Orleans combo back in the early 1960s in Sweden. Would have loved to back you guys up on drums, but have not played since then!

This early "trad" jazz style was big in northern Europe in the 1950s-1970s. Had no idea it had got to Japan. Well played though!

Trombone.

@@harrywinslow3946 No...he dropped the trombone a 1:45 or so and picked up another instrument and, yes, it sounds like a clarinet. Moon Noggin was asking about that one....me too. Just wondering...Mac

The banjoist is missing some critical(!) chords. Hopefully the piano put them in - they affect the "flavor" of the tune - but can't be heard on the recording. Incompetent (and deaf) players give the banjo a bad name. It's a tough/hard instrument to learn and to play WELL. However, that's no excuse. There is Ken Aoki in Japan, to show the top of competence on this instrument. For the Japanese: Sorry for being a direct and uncouth barbarian, but I don't have the Japanese politeness to pretend (and lie), that this banjo playing is OK.

Victor Song Have you watched some of their other stuff on here? I can’t see anything wrong with the bango player.. They are just having a good time and bringing pleasure to other people for goodness sake. Who gives a stuff if , in your opinion, the Bangor player is missing a couple of chords? It is fun and that it is what it is supposed to be. I love it.

Man...ease up...the fellow playing the banjo enjoys it...and, apparently, a s**tload of others enjoy it also. Myself included. If I could play the instrument any better, I’d be in the band. Chill....

Mr. Song, Junichi Kawaii is a legend of traditional jazz, a founding member of the longest lived and best New Orleans Jazz band in Japan, before you you judge so harshly, it might do some good to learn about the significance of the New Orleans Rascals and there long history and contribution to jazz... I also listened a couple of your videos on your channel, I think you could learn a thing or two the rhythmic pulse Mr Kawaii provides a band, you clearly have no interest in playing straight rhythm, his style and yours and opposite, for example Mr. Kawaii only plays time and never plays a solo, he just keeps time. Clearly you not familiar with the George Lewis Band's style or like a lot of people look down on it, you could learn a lot from the simplicity of Mr. Kawaii's style and his hero Lawerence Marrero.
