It is amazing how far Ortur has come in the last year. I have never had a problem with their products.

They make solid products but have fallen far behind others that are now producing 20 watt machines. Ortur definitely has the best support of them all. They seemed to have copied the D1 on this version but stuck with the old style printer wheels and a generic app that I can't get working right. They do have a lower price point that will attract many to move up to it. I feel that my LM2 with the 10 watt upgrade has the same precision and capabilities as this newer version until they get the offline control working out of the box ( I am still waiting for my LM2 offline controller to be useable). I have a preproduction model and there are zero issues using Lightburn so that end is well worked out. Some how I cannot see a need for the speeds they now achieve and found basically you had better have everything screwed down so it doesn't shift in the middle of a job at 20,000 mm/m. Thanks for watching.

Ortur must be sending these out to everyone, this is about the 30th review I have seen.

It's marketing strategy. This has become one of the fastest growing segments in the hobby arena the last 2 years and new machines need to have a presence on social media. Real life honest reviews are the best advertising they can harness and sending out machines to makers costs them very little. Thanks for watching.

Have you ever used painters tape over Cherry wood to protect the edges from burning? I had heard that was supposed to help. I still dont have my first Laser etch machine as I have been holding off until I retire. I don't have enough time to make use of one yet and they keep getting better.

Tried it once and it's a pain in the ass to remove. Burn deep and 220 grit sandpaper is fast. They keep getting faster and more powerful everyday so waiting is not bad. Thanks for watching .

can it cut on clear/transparent acrylic sheets? or at least with the paper masking?

No, buy a co2 laser for clear. This wavelength goes right through it. Black and a couple other colors of acrylic can be cut. Thanks for watching.

Hey, hope you're doing well. That's a sleek new toy. My brother keeps telling me to buy one. 😀 I was looking at the new Ender 3 S1 Plus or pro. Larger format, direct drive and Auto leveling, to replace my original Ender 3. I've had to restrain myself from buying it. My brother keeps saying to buy a laser instead. LOL Upgraded my office area and my 25-year-old Hutch desk, with a large uplift 80x30 electric desk. It's nice to be able to move around more now. Still looking at different vehicles, haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet, but I keep dreaming about it. LOL

Still screwed up from the vaccine. It's amazing how far these little lasers have come in 2 years. They are a fun tool (toy) to add capabilities to your woodshop. I get much more use from my lasers then 3d printers. They are like iPhones now with newer models released every week so if you plan on using it right away get one. If it's going to sit in the box 6 months wait because better models will be out then. We love our Subaru and Ranger and are glad we bought before this years price hikes. I hear just about all vehicles are 6 months out now if you plan on ordering. Crazy times. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 I was just going to say, I'm waiting for your Ford video. Before I just did, I decided to check your video list and saw you had two of them. I don't recall getting notification on them, but it is possible. Problem is, KZbin floods me with video listings, I have no desire to see. They put my favorite content creators which I mark to be notified, further down.

I plan on doing a video about it in the future. That is the product brand name and its not made from walruses that are an endangered species. Its a food grade blend of oils and waxes that I just started using. I find 2 coats of oil spaced 12 hours and then 2 coats of the wax spaced 12 hours then buffed give cutting boards a nice finish. They recommend using water to raise the grain prior to the final sanding for the best results. This is the oil I use amzn.to/3OrTePH and this is the wax amzn.to/3S0W6Gc. . So far I like it and it dries fairly hard with no stickiness like plain mineral oil.

Great to see it in action! How do you like the black Ortur enclosure you have on your Laster Master 2? The enclosure is the part I'm constantly stuck on, and venting.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's worth what they charge for it. You can build one with a good Infinity fan for much less that will control the fumes better. If you don't have tools or abilities to build one its an expensive option that must be close to the vent exit location. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for reviewing this, I am going to purchase one. My only question is, would you recommend the air pump from Amazon or the one listed with the Master 3 on the Made the Best website? Thank you for all you do. 👍

Just hold on another day or 2 as I am waiting for a $100 off coupon from made the best that I will post in the description. I am told both the Dewallie and Ortur pumps are the same, just different colors. The Ortur pump I got from Amazon is a little quieter then the Dewallie and they both have the same specs. I would go for the best price. If you plan on running it 8 hours a day 7 days a week I would say look for a continuous duty industrial pump that is quieter. These 10 watt lasers create a lot of fumes so definitely consider making a vented enclosure. Amazing how far these little engravers have come in 2 years. I definitely recommend Lightburn software to control it and create artwork. Thanks for watching.

How does this machine compare to the xtool d1?
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 2 жыл бұрын
I think it's a better laser. I get deeper finer cuts with this then my D1. It's faster also but I haven't successfully gotten the app to work yet and it doesn't come with software other then laser Grbl so it's behind in that area. The D1 also has a higher tech rail system that should need less maintenance. So right now it is a toss up with the LM3 having a slightly lower price point and top notch support where the D1 comes with starter software that works and I have heard not the best support. Both work best with Lightburn though. I think xtool has a D1 pro now that is very expensive but has an upgraded laser comparable to the LM3 laser but I haven't seen that yet. Thanks for watching.

That is a nice machine, this is one I would probably put at the top of my list for sometime down the road if/when I decide to go with a laser in my shop. I hope to have a laser and a CNC within the next few years. Gotta get my daughter back out on her own when she gets back up and going, gotta get her healthy again first!

By the time you are ready to jump into the cnc world this will probably be replaced by something more powerful. This technology is improving rapidly and waiting a while may be a good idea. It may give you better options at lower prices. Hopefully your daughter will have a full recovery in the future. Thanks for watching.

This machine looks like he X Tool, looks rather clean design, cabling connection also look very clean, I like that, I also like the key lock feature, and controls buttons on top right hand side, I do not like WIFI or apps, and I rather control the machine the conventional way. I also don't like any power connections at the sides near the front, look like a DC plug is on the front left side of the machine, I would rather have the power plugs at the back out of sight. Looking at the engraved letters, they do not look as sharp as the X Tool machine laser, perhaps your camera was not totally in focus. I am also wondering why these machines home at the bottom left instead of the top left, away from the material , as I think they should home. I have the same issued with my 3D printers they home bottom left. I know this can be changed in G code, but just wondering why they come standard that way.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 2 жыл бұрын
This actually makes sharper letters then my D1. I turned off the home function because I don't like how they use motor feedback and not switches now. That is how all big cnc machines home. on a large machine you want home close to the operator. Just got the new D1 pro and that has limit switches all 4 corners that is a really nice feature. Thanks for watching.
@MarioIArguello
@MarioIArguello 2 жыл бұрын
@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 Thank for the reply. I know cnc machines home on the bottom left also, this would be conventional homing for upper right hand quadrant work area, if one references x0,y0 from the center of the quadrant map, but it is not a die hard rule. On some of my CNC machines I home with reference to lower right quadrant, tool moves to the upper left of the machine x0y0 and the tool is never in my way and it allows me to access the material quicker. I also noticed some laser cutters using just a peg to sense the limit instead of proper contact limit switches, seems risky for the steppers. I would like to understand how this works... Is the steeper stopping by sending an excess in current when it hits the limit peg?
