So glad you've helped them get shave ready. As a shavette lover, going to a straight was horrible. Tuggy, painful, slow. Didn't "get it", realized they often need work and maintenance, even brand new.

I just ordered a Feather Artist Club DX. Can't wait to get it, but am still itching for a traditional straight

Love your videos Matt. I've been using a Dovo Best Quality 5/8 for over a year. When I purchased it I received a free honing and a follow up within the first year from my dealer, which I have taken advantage of. Since then I have also purchased an 8k/12k hone so I can fall back on my trade as a tool and die maker and save the cost of shipping and labour twice per year. Yes, shaving with a straight blade takes a little longer especially when, like me, you do multi passes. What the heck, I'm retired. When I am more limited to time I use my father's old Wilkinson double edge. As I also shave my head, that is what I generally use for that task. So far I have not done the Vincent Van Gogh but find that I knick my head more with the double edge than the Dovo. I usually stock my medicine cabinet with 3 or 4 different shaving soaps from different manufacturers with different scents and always use either a bristle or badger hair brush depending on the soap and generally use a pre shave as well. I call this process my "luxury shave" time. Keep the videos coming Matt. Entertaining and educational. Greetings from S. Ontario Canada

Thank you for this excellent video. What I really like is that you are showing, with excellent lighting and videography, how to shave with a straight razor. Your lathering up the Ariana & Evans soap makes me want to try that brand. Seeing you use a brand new Dovo really got my attention. I've read on other shaving websites -- in the fairly distant past -- that Dovo products were not shave ready. I am glad that has changed. I do own one 'straight razor', which I bought used, and it probably needs rehabbing because I neglected it. I only tried shaving with it once or twice. Perhaps I was not patient enough. It might be a block of rust now and ruined. It was quite some time ago. I think my main takeaway here is that if I try straight razor shaving once more, I will follow your advice and do it on a Saturday after my cup of tea and I'm relaxed and ready to be patient. If I destroyed my current straight razor, perhaps I'll buy a new one from you.

I got one of the last Thiers Issard Le-Grelot 6/8 Half Hollows before they stopped making them and I'm so glad I got it. I've got my own honing stones and good strops ( I buy my strop materials from you guys btw. Great prices. Great quality 👍). One thing I figured out pretty quickly was the huge difference prepping my skin before shaving makes. I shave only after showering and keep my bathroom " steamed ". This really does make a difference in the shave quality. I also solved the mirror fogging by just spraying my mirror with RainX windshield anti-fog 🤣 It works so no complaints.

A lot of people are shouting that razors usually don’t come shave ready, but I got the Facharbeit from Dovo 1.5 years ago and it was really sharp. And it kept that way for over a year only using normal stropping and occasionally a stropping paste. Dovo really does well I think.

I find that for me Vegan is ideal in warmer months and Tallow in the winter. But from a lather perspective, both creat fantastic lathers, as long as the soap base was thought through!

Matt, that laser etching is eye-catching. I had commented last week that a Laser etching option maybe a nice option to offer. I think offering modern, geometric designs like honey comb, diamond cross hatching and circle and dots. Then traditional metal etching designs synonymous with gun smith's like scrolling and acanthus designs would be cool. Maybe your ghost logo along with a texture design, perhaps Damascus look influences. Design options offered could be an in-house designer's project of passion creating limited time designs resulting in collectible, unique product. If inventory is to risky, do the Laser etching a.r.o. Those are some of my marketing $0.02 . Happy Friday.

Really considering a straight. Can you possibly do a video discussing/comparing the qualities, characteristics and "virtues" if you will, of carbon vs. stainless straight razors? Types of staniless or carbon steel one should look for, and maintenance involved, ease and difficulties of maintenance of each etc.? Does stainless requie different strops or hones? I know you've discussed carbon steel with regard to keeeping them oiled, not rinsing them in water etc.
