As someone was pointing out about MP3 this is why you want to stay away from MP3 for EVPS: Audio File Format: MP3 MP3 stands for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3. It was released back in 1993 and exploded in popularity, eventually becoming the most popular audio format in the world for music files. The main goal of MP3 is three-fold: 1) to drop all the sound data that exists beyond the hearing range of normal people, and 2) to reduce the quality of sounds that aren’t easy to hear. 3) to compress all other audio data as efficiently as possible. PCM stands for Pulse-Code Modulation, a digital representation of raw analog audio signals. Analog sounds exist as waveforms, and in order to convert a waveform into digital bits, the sound must be sampled and recorded at certain intervals (or pulses). This digital audio format has a “sampling rate” (how often a sample is made) and a “bit depth” (how many bits are used to represent each sample). There is no compression involved. The digital recording is a close-to-exact representation of analog sound. It is just better over a better option for long hours of recording, and you can get more data from the raw data.

We do not charge to investigate residential clients and small businesses. We usually have to PAY anywhere from 100-500 to investigate the bigger locations. The most was the Conjuring House. I believe that was around 1500 for the night.

Do you guy use lossless format like .wma or .wav format because .mp3 has a lot of compression, I use LP mode which is lossless on the the Olympus VN8000PC and VN8500PC I get better responses since .mp3 can cancel out a lot of EVP.

Thank you for the information! Our recorder has two options MP3 and PCM. We've been sticking to MP3 since we bought this new one, and just turning off all of the audio settings like noise cancel etc. Is PCM lossless?

​​@@alleghenyparanormal Just an update I just received two more digital recorders the Olympus VN-721PC and Olympus VN-722PC those recorders are the best so far I've tested, if you can get your hands on one I'd definitely recommend it I've been getting accurate EVP's with it it's basically like the DR60 but better it records in .wma at 5kbps.
