I feel like Fecundity's old effect should be a Field Mice exclusive and when you transfer Fecundity onto other cards, they should get this new Fecundity instead, brings more value into the Field Mice

I always thought maybe make it so you can only play one of that card per turn (works the same but you can’t fill the board with 4 gecks in a turn) or have the sigil copied over once.

From what I've read, the Hydra-art is always bugged on the card itself, but is working, if you put the sigil on another unit (that turns that unit into a hydra, if the requirements are fulfilled).

I think fecundity needed a nerf since getting it always meant an instant win, but this nerf removed the entire point of fecundity. I think it would've been better if fecundity was just slowed down, like activating on played cards when you pass your turn, and then the played card loses its fecundity sigil. Instead we got the lamest version of the nerf

Any infinite is always super hard to balance. Especially in a game like this where transferring abilities from card to card is a core out-of-combat mechanic.

@@martinshoosterman Yes, they can. I have a whole bunch of times for example. But ultimately a nerf to it means gaining a new strategy that isn't an instant win. It allows for more varied non-OP games which I think is more fun

The Hydra would be a lot better if it inherited all of the stat and sigil upgrades that were on the egg/card. As it stands, the eggs are just expensive squirrels.

Hydra is honestly bad. Like, flame a mantis god once or transfer a mantis on to it and you’ve already created something equal but it can be flamed, sacced, and combined.

I'm so "lucky" that I'm pretty sure I never saw field mice in the main act I gameplay, and in kaycee's mod... 2 or 3 times I guess Now imagine how I felt the last night - I didn't even notice that the game got updated, and I got both field mice and cockroach on the first trader node And then I played it the first fight... Leshy tells me that Kaycee nerfed it. And even asked her to NEVER mess with his staff again But that's not it On the first totem I got.. fecundity symbol. But guess what? IT STILL WORKS ON THE TOTEMS AS IT USE TO! *tho new cards doesn't get a visual, so it's probably a bug

they should just make the field mice sigil have a 'power' value like 5 or something so every clone has 1 less power and once it reaches 1 will remove the sigil from the next clone

I think field mice sigil will still be good. It’s not as good to get a field mice card or put it’s sigil on another card. But if you get the totem it should still function the exact same. After all if you have an insect totem with that sigil, and you play a mantis and get a mantis back, that mantis should get the sigil again from the totem as it’s another insect

Fecundity by itself wasn't the reason for the nerf, it was because if the sigil was transfered to a multiple cards it can easily make any card infinite like corpse maggots, geck, even ouroboros is too easy to make infinite stats using fecundity

The hydra seems pretty worthless tbh, the trifurcated/bifurcated strike along with every tribe seem good at a first glance, but you seemingly can’t flame them(not sure about sigil transfers either), and a mantis god + mantis is literally easier and faster with the mantis god deck

Actually, the card itself is currently bugged. Also, expect Mantis god to be nerfed for how powerful it is into becoming a two-sacrifice cost.

First of all, you have 3 of them in your deck, not just 1. Second of all, they are all 1 bone costs. Meaning that they will almost always be effectively free units. And third of all, if you have any useful totem at all, then they will be buffed by it.

I get the feeling this is less about making another viable deck and more about a self-imposed restriction to make the game harder. It’s a way for the game makers to increase the difficulty ceiling without also raising the difficulty floor. Perfect for players like Sifd who are so well-versed in this game that the other starter decks are almost always an easy win.

@@josephsherby I don't think this accomplishes that though. The game is still fundementally a pretty easy game. Hand manipulation is still an almost gueurenteed win even in a 220 challenge run. Realistically the only thing this change does is slightly reduce the number of viable easy win strategies. And severely reduced the number of interesting meme strats.

Definitely True, had it happen to me just to see if it was true and it is. Apparently if you manage to go there again you get another. However I have not experienced this myself yet.

I finished this new challenge with this new deck with curious eggs. This is the most worthless card in this game. To gain new card, you have to ruin your deck with a weird combination of cards and you gain card, which you cannot upgrade. The only usefull thing on this is tribe and cost, thats it. However, curious egg (alone) could be a very good card if it will be upgraded with some of the flame or immortal sigil. Curious Egg alone can be very usefull, but his special effect? No, it's very worthless.

Curious egg should be changed so that instead of neading all of the challenges, each individual egg uses only one of each type (example: one egg needs a card with 3 attack, a card with 2 health, and a card of the bird tribe to hatch, another needs a card with 1 attack, 5 health and a reptile card ect.), and the hydra itself should have bifractured, trifractured and double attack, maybe sniper too just to make it more worth it. Flame buffs and transfer sigils should transfer over to the hydra too.

Kaycee is officially a member of the "No fun brigade" I love how the blame gets pinned on her for nerfing Fecundity, ah yes, hide behind a fictional character while "balancing" the game XD I do hope that this isn't going to be an indication of what's to come, I think a huge draw of this game is how much you can break it open with crazy combos. Fecundity is a part of that IMO, if the worry is that the game is OP, why make Tri/Bi/DubHit better? I dunno. but like you said, this game isn't PVP, so broken cards shouldn't be THAT much of a trouble.

This is the truth, of all of the value sigils this one by far was the most insane, it is the only sigil that allowed you to generate extra real cards without cost and without the card to die. Obviously people are going to complain about the absolute most broken sigil being nerfed but honestly after playing with it there are still plenty of other ways to break the game.

The nerf might be valid but the sigil didn't make the game any less fun. The problem lies into the fact that kaycees mod is supposed to be difficult, not fun. I just hope the devs release the new cards to base inscryption soon because they are all awesome (except the cuckoo fuck the cuckoo it's just a boring card that does something everyone wanted to see in the game but it just disrupts the whole gameplay)

@@trickster721 my reasoning is really that people derive fun from different things, and unfortunately some people find difficulty, something that makes games more niche, the main source of fun in games. really, kaycee's mod is trying to be hard, so it's okay. but they need to add kaycee-exclusive content to non-kaycee inscryption. the new cards, the new events and the new items could all be enjoyed by people who don't want to torture themselves with changes they didn't want or even ask for.

I think that the waterborne deck should be a tadpole, a kingfisher, and a great white, while the no cost deck becomes a rabbit, a bee, and a geck.

@@impossiblehanley2732 Yeah but the other two cards in the deck are... Geck and Tadpole for Reptiles and two Kingfishers for the Avians. Bone has Coyote and Dire Wolf Pup, Ant and Mantis have at least two Insect cards Triple Blood has Black Goat and Moose Buck for Hooved If you want to focus on a certain tribe the starter decks give you that option

They could add a new sigil for fecundity were in the image there's only 1 rat instead of two. With this you could get at least 1 extra trigger for fecundity to make it more useful. It would still be nerfed but it would make Field mice not completely useless if you don't sacrifice it.

I think that we can all agree that the sprinter sigil and all like it are useless and even makes the card worse and yet somehow almost every time leshy uses one it work out super well for him

While I get the need for Fecundity to need a nerf (as a free/1 cost card having it is *extremely* OP) that doesn't match the literal definition of it Fecundity: the ability to produce an abundance of offspring or new growth; fertility. "multiply mated females show increased fecundity" Me: I didn't know "an abundance" means *one* So at the very least, unless field mice gets a buff (1 cost 1/1 would probably be best as 2 cost 2/2... you can do A LOT better) and make it so the sigil works differently with it, like how Child 13 or the Cat works differently with Many Lives... Yeah the Sigil while ok with maybe something like a 2-3 cost card with Corpse Eater, or a 1 cost card like Mantis God that has been extremely buffed... it's not a sigil that will be sought out anymore. (at least make it so Field Mice becomes sought out and used and heck, they could make it a rare card so it's harder to get than it already is too)

Not a fan of this patch in general pretty much. 1) Fecundity I didn't really think fecundity needed a nerf, since it was so fun to use and if you didn't like it, you didn't have to take it. It's just gonna make a lot less builds viable for high challenge runs. The totem still works the same from what I heard, but I don't think I've ever found that one. :D Undying + Fecundity should still work on 1-cost-cards I guess ???, but I haven't tried that yet. 2) new/changed decks: I was hoping for more interesting decks to use once in a while, but these are not that for me. The changed bone deck would be interesting, if they kept alpha, but the coyote without changes to the way you draw your first hand is just full trash. The new bird deck is just pretty trash in general, although it does give you some options to mix a ton of sigils on the kingfishers. I'm ok with the egg-deck. It's a gimmick-deck that's gonna be an interesting challenge once or twice, but I will probably only play it once or twice and then be done with it. 3) Long Elk-change: Since you can't sacrifice the card it creates, it's more a nerf than a buff to the card in my oppinion, but I was never a fan of the card, so it's whatever. 4) Pelt Lice change: This is a great change at least. The card is still pretty trash, but at least it should be somewhat usable now. Bifurcated and Trifurcated stacking is insane of course. :D

I played those new decks today, had some fun with kingfisher deck, basically I just put a things like double strike on them, and as soon as I see mushroom on map, I combine them into a turn one kill bird

@@hanliu3707 Yea that's what I meant. Having 2 of the same card in the starter deck can definitely open up some things. Still not a huge fan of the deck, though. Both the mantis god deck and the blood deck are better at the only thing this deck is good at, though, imho.

I tried it and Undying + Fecundity does work on a 1-cost. So play unit, sac it with the non-fecundity version, replay esentially gives you the original fecundity with extra steps. Gonna be a lot more annoying, but it's still possible. Undying will usually be better on 1-cost units and fecundity will be close to useless on 0-cost. You might wanna put fecundity on a high-damage card if you have like an undying goat or something to be able to replay it every turn, but either way it's gonna be a lot less fun to play. :/

I'm livid that they nerfed fecundity. It seems that fecundity has to be comboed with immortality to work like the sigil that it was before. If you put immortal sigil on field mice, the original card-not the copy-will return to your hand, while retaining the sigil.

My Fecundity Ant Colony got nerfed the same day I tried it. Luckily Unkillable Warren gives me all the Blood and Bones I'll need.

Just had a run where the only thing I was missing for the eggs was a 5 damage card, and then the very last campfire I could use on my grizzly to make it go from 4 > 5 damage was a healthfire : (

funny thing though. The totem with fecundity is still in full effect with the nerf. Oh and it has special dialogue exchanged. How unfortunate it didn't' show the art for you. It worked perfectly fine when I tried it earlier. Fun idea but not practical at all.

Fecundity still can be played infinitely via fecundity totem. Dunno if its a bug, but at least we got that still.

I think I can explain this: For example, the original card belongs to the tribe inscribed on the totem, so the game gives it fecundity. When the card is copied, the game realizes that the copy also belongs to the same tribe, thus giving it fecundity. Its copy also belongs to that tribe, so it also gets fecundity. This repeats again and again, ending up making the good old, overpowered fecundity.

Totems add sigils to all things of a given type. This includes created cards. Doesn't matter if the copy of fecundity is lost because the totem is still the totem.

The issue is when the copy is added to your hand, it doesn’t SHOW the fecundity sigil, but acts like it has it. So obviously something here is bugged. The question is: which way will they fix it? By nerfing fecundity totems, keeping them strong?

Here’s my take on fecundity: There are a bunch of broken combinations in the game Cat + mealworm + fires Porcupine + poison + fires Corpse maggots + undying + burrower + fly blocker These all require a lot of set-up, and most of them aren’t even a guaranteed win if you draw them. Old Field mice + (almost) any 1-blood cost, 0 cost, or 2-bone cost, warren ability, or corpse eater ability broke the game, and it only takes 1 event to do instead of 3+ events. It was far too easy and too versatile to get a run-breaker using fecundity. Now, fecundity has been pushed back in line with the other combos: it can still be broken (undying + fecundity effectively makes it work like before) but it requires (justifiably) more set up. Heck, the totem even works like it used to (for now. We’ll see if that gets changed) If you derive pleasure from making a fecundity combo, you still can: you just can’t do it every 2nd or 3rd game. (If you run the numbers, you’re actually very statistically likely to encounter at least 1 field mice card in 2 runs). Pre-nerf, every 1 in like 10 posts on the subreddit was a picture of fecundity breaking everything. No other combo comes remotely close to that overrepresentation.

The numbers and tribes only need to be in the deck once you can remove them after you get the checks on the egg or at least thats how it worked on my last check when i upgrade a unit from 4 attack to 5 attack unless it counted the hidden unit real stat i need to try this deck again to check for sure

Fecundity they nerfed WAY too hard. They really didn't need to nerf it in this manner at all to balance out the game, while the sigil itself could appear on cards other then the Field Mice on Wolf-Pelt purchases I feel like those were deserved, you bought pelts and suffered through taking them to a trader to get that Fecundity Mole/Warren what have you, but at least in the case obtaining it like so you are going to have to be sure you REALLY like what it's on because you can't transfer it off. The best way they should have done this should have been to shift the Field Mice to being a Rare which is what I think they always should have been. In that scenario getting Fecundity is less likely and in the circumstances that you DO manage to pick up a copy of it from your rare-pool choice, be that leshys boss battle's (3/12 or 1/4 chance) or via having to actually knock out a lot of teeth to afford a Gold Pelt for the better chances at a trader. I think they should've made fecundity similar to one of the mods with the spreading starvation card, where the card makes a duplicate of itself on the board at the end of each turn. That prevent an infinite amount of cards being made while also not basically just removing fecundity from the game like this nerf did. Instead of a copy in your hand which is just an endless supply, a copy on the board is capable of being lost, ends up still being a good sigil while not being nearly as broken.

A better fecundity nerf would be like this but instead of get copy without sigil when played, get copy without sigil for every turn the card with fecundity is on your side of the table.

I feel like they just watched me play Kaycee's mod (where I'd take the burrow starting deck, get fecundity, and have a guaranteed win every time, as long as I have no other 1 cost or bone cards) and said "yep we're getting rid of that."

Of course, the real problem was the "Even if less than 10% of your cards are one-blood-cost units, you're guaranteed to draw one" mechanic, which so far as I can tell hasn't been adjusted. If the game were to populate one slot in the starting hand by picking one of the N/5 cheapest blood units that don't have fecundity or Magpie's Eye (if any exist), and one with one of the N/5 cheapest such bone-cost units (if any exist), and the remaining slot(s) with random cards, such a change would be subtle, and many people might not notice it, but it would re-balance Fecundity without having to change the underlying mechanics.

I actually submitted a bug report on that last bit about reviewing the deck during a cave trial. The cards would be very bright until you moused over them, causing the normal mood-lighting to return. Not a big issue, but it's super cool to see my report get fixed.

Fecundity nerf is so sad :( I got a Field Mice with 2 fecundity sigils from a repaint and it gives 2 copies when played, but both don't get even 1 sigil! Also about the hydra eggs, I had the unkillable totem for insects and if they die and come back to hand the art gets corrected... Only saw it on the final fight when I got Hodag to 5 attack to complete the eggs

That word you had trouble with, rejiggering, is re-jig-er-ing. If you 'rejig' something, you're re-doing it. It's kind of a word to say "This was put together kind of quickly and it's still pretty slapped together, but we rejigged (fixed/rewired/rerouted/redid) it and hopefully it's better now with the tweaks." It comes from construction/manufacturing. A jig is a custom made tool to hold materials in a certain position to get the same result every time. So if you Re-Jig something, you adjust how it's being held to get a better/more consistent result.

Fecundity is still powerfull! The totem's Fecundity still do infinity cards. (I had a deer totem + fecundity and my hydra (which is from a curious egg) endlessly appeared in my hand when I put it, just like before the update)

The new card is as bad as Pelt Lice 'till the endgame when it doesn't matter anymore. Starting as worse squirrels, they ask you to bloat your deck with at least five cards of varying tribes and power before they become broken 1x5/5 eggs. They do what the other cards do (ramping up into brokenness) but fairly worse (there's no in-between the 0/1 and 5/5, and you can't upgrade them further), and as you grow them your deck needs to lose its themes, coherence and quite a lot of power, running to all occasions to get more cards instead of upgrading and combining them. At least it allows for certain cards who'd usually never get play to be played, but it feels forced. At the end, the Hydra is a curio, and makes for a unique but forced failed meme run around it. The three egg deck, however, is definitely a challenge in early game and Sifd lucked nicely on the two starting creatures.

I think a key element of this deck is to sacrifice the new eggs’ sigil onto your other cards. Once you activate it, whatever the other card was becomes an instant win, so who cares what it was? Also, I’d love to see you make a Beaver of Doom now. Since it gives its sigils to the dams now, Leader is really good on it, and if you add some sort of multistrike on top… oh boy is it strong!

Just found out today Fecundity still works the way it did before with the Totems. So you still can get an OP winning deck, but not the old way with field mice. Had a run with buffed geck that had the mealworm sigil, with the lizard-fecundity totem. Crazy

The pelt lice buff this patch is that going to the trader doesn't get rid of the pelts, so that you can more easily play them. The double-strike buff was indeed last patch.

I think the eggs could be like: It will aways hatch, but its stats are acording to your deck, like if your deck has mostly 2 damage it will have 2 damage, if it has mostly 5 health it would have 5 health, and its cost is also dependent on your deck's main cost, the tribe would be the one you have the most and the sigils are picked from 2 of your cards, and maybe it has like a 30% chance of having +1 dmg/life or -1 dmg/life like goobert
