I use to have horrible allergies, taking Claritin daily; Until, I started Vitafusion Super Immune Support, which includes Elderberry, Manuka Honey, Zinc and Vitamin C, I have 1 or 2 per day and since haven’t needed allergy meds. They’re gummies and quite enjoyable.

For my hydrangeas, I wait until there’s a bit of new growth (like 6-12”) then cut the old growth back until it’s hidden under the new. This provides structure for the new growth so it doesn’t get droopy.

Everything looks so nice! For the hydrangeas, it depends on what kind they are - some bloom on new wood, some bloom on old wood. If not sure, I'd leave it alone. Cutting back ones that bloom on old wood will mean little to no flowers this year❤❤❤

I love what you did with the porch and patio! I know you mentioned getting new mulch soon. I own a landscape company; I suggest looking into river rock. It’s less maintenance, makes spring and fall clean ups easier and it doesn’t need to be replaced every year like mulch. Not to mention the curb appeal 😊

Definitely prune your hydrangeas! Old wood dies back on even the healthiest hydrangeas. Prune the dead or very old stems by cutting them at the base of the plant. This will stimulate new growth and produce more blooms later in the summer.

It looks beautiful. Love that your family is involved with the process. I recommend cutting back the hydrangeas. The will regrown. Unless you want them to get bigger than don’t cut them.

For the Hydrangeas I just pull the sticks when they are ready they pop right out. The ones that don't I'm told provide nutrients to the rest of the plant. They tend to be super resilient so do what makes you more comfortable. Also, were did you get the grey zip-up you had on in the start of this video?

Looking good on your porches and patio! We are still having cold weather and freeze warnings here in lower MI, so we have another 3-4 weeks to plant flowers. Those type of hydrangeas die back in winter, then new growth comes up in the spring. You can safely cut those dead sticks off at the level of your new growth. I have a window box on my grandkids swing set too, so cute!! ☀️☀️☀️

I cut the dead stick from my hydrangea and get new growth every spring, I have mine in pot next to the garage. My neighbor had his in the ground so they grow huge and they don’t like direct sun mine are partial sun .

Spring Refresh looks awesome! I would leave the Hydrangeas alone as they will typically grow back. Once full then you can cut out the dead branches.

For the hydrangea… you can trim down the branches to the new growth. So if you see green buds on the branch, trim down just right above that. If you trim it all the way down, you won’t get any flowers bloom this year.

Tiff, it depends on what kind of hydrangeas you have. Some bloom on new growth and some bloom on old growth. If you see buds on the sticks, don’t prune. The camera didn’t take a close enough picture. 😊❤❤❤❤❤
