I won't lie, I haven't clicked on a Julian video for over 6 months. I subscribed years ago after the very first vocoder vid. Clicked on this one s soon as I saw it. Great to see the project has had a new lease of life, excellent stuff.

To help with reaming parts like the fibre washers, try turning them in the opposite direction! That will make the reamer much less "bitey" and gradually wear the washer inside diameter in a more controllable fashion. (In a similar mode, when using a cutting tool like a hole saw in plastic, run it backwards and melt your way through, it gives a better result than ripping through soft material in the "proper" cutting direction.)

Julian are you aware of a new device to aid attaching PCB components that is worn slightly below head height? I like to call it the "over shoulder solder holder"... or as the Americans call it, the "over shodder sodder hodder" :-)

Lower SWG solder would be bolder solder. And solder not on a roll would be folder solder. AU and tin would be your golder solder and stuff in a handy dispenser would be holder solder.

I think you know, that if you simply put inputs in parallel without any sort of decoupling they gonna interfere with each other, like damping, alter the bandwith, adding noise along with some other "funny" side-effects....

Looks awesome, I am sure it will sound great too. The only thing I can comment on is the strain relief from the jacks and pots -- I would mount them and wire them to the board with crimped connectors. But let's see how this turns out, I am sure it will be just fine. :)

just an opportunity to pass on 2 ideas , self tort from street rubbish, took me 2 years to convert a KORG M1 to 12 v I built a parallel coil system that worked for 10 min. then found mini atx power supplies, with duel 12v supply,, had to resolve a ±6 mA earth loop,,anyway I make endless cables for my solar van studio, rework loads of phono rubbish cables ,specially the AV connectors with 6 phono plugs for 0 or £1,idea that you might like and promot,, got 1/4 Jack and 3.5mm Jack , got standard 9mm phono, how about a 6mm phono plug and socket , I reckon unendingly useful , do you no anyone that can MAKE 'em ,plus ,I tooling up to smash my way into my SURFACE i7 ,got 6 stereo 3.5mm sockets with 2 switching connections (not the normal 1),,, hence hot wire and therefore switch the 2 speakers as pre-amped audio out with 2x+ and 2 earth to custom headset, then hot wire the 2 camera mics and then the headset out that is sterio so having Hugh vol. and 4 direct line inputs ,they say no entry without breaking screen, not so,,,, when trying a 10 inch surface display in the store , I picked it of its mount and the rear case stayed ,leaving me holding an opened screen and attached boards um ,,it has a hidden clip system ,you need to warp the rear case to unclip it um ,,anyway it would be great to have more real knowledge like you lot tho I reckon I have great ideas Jo , trying

You might want to look into a summing amplifier curcuit which puts an equal value resistor after each input but before the op amp itself. This avoides changes in level of one input affecting any of the other inputs. Here is a good tutorial on the subject: www.electronics-tutorials.ws/opamp/opamp_4.html

Okay, but why spin the boards to take 8-pin DIP sockets and then have to spin extra adapter boards for the stereo headphone jacks? Why not just spin the boards to take the headphone jacks directly?
@russellhltn1396
@russellhltn1396 5 жыл бұрын
He explained that in a prior video. The next time he goes to order jacks, the pins are likely to be different. Rather than redesign the whole board, he only has to redesign the adapter board for a different style jack.
