Micallef really surprised me years ago with Yellow Sea, a beautiful amber fragrance with a weird, wintergreen like top and a beautiful ambergris impression in the base. All of this in the most kitchy bottle one can imagine. Still a great one, and I luckily bought a 2nd bottle. Lost track with the other releases though.

Thank you for the reviews! Regarding cinnamon, in my experience it is immediately recognisable as such in Eau Lente from Dyptique, and Incensi Vintage collection from Villoresi. Both worth trying in my view 🙂

It's very true cinnamic notes can be discreet or stick out when you want an actual cinnamon note. The alcohol, aldehyde, acetate and the bark and leaf oils are very versatile and used for many effects. They can be used for example in a floral accord like hyacinth or interpretations of muguet. Whether marketing list it or not depends on their whims when it is used for an effect. Whoever commented cinnamyl acetate is the smelling principle of cinnamon is mistaken; it is more transparent and rosy. Clearly someone who theorises based on online content about perfumery and not someone who actually smells raw materials.
