Loved the double struck silver! The history lessons are the best ever. I really enjoy learning some type of history around the date of the coin. Keep up the great work! We appreciate you! 😊

It’s a great find! I would suppose that it was pierced and kept because of that minting fault, just as people today keep faults. I like to imagine that it also may have indicated a person’s political standing by wearing it on a fob or thong. We will never know. Quick internet search shows 1696 silver sixpence such as this fetching £350, so a double struck being a rarity might suggest a higher value. Mention that one on the insurance policy.

Such a WONDERFUL day of digging! Yes, loads of detritus (I do hope it is now all headed for a "planned landfill," not just tossed back into the field. It is, isn't it?), BUT... that doublestruck Jacobite coin - FABULOUS! I've never seen one so lovely - you ARE a lucky man, and I hope a "happy man," too! I do _SO WISH_ I could fly into your beautiful "Puuurth-shurrr" to join you in the metal detecting, but, alas, whilst I _CAN_ fly in a plane, I canna walk without severe pain. _(SO VERY SAD_ for me. 😢 ) [PLEASE, do enjoy your D&DD (Detecting & Digging Days), and remember that you CAN do these things. Not everyone is so able, don'cha know!] Your life is full of so many "wonderful things," whether you realize it or no. Here's a wink 'n' a smile 😉 for ya, and a few (((hugs))), too, from this old California woman. I hope your numbers continue to soar, your life to bring you smiles, & all good things to come your way. Stay healthy, John; keep on having fun!

Haven't thought about Tangee lipstick in years! My only sister used to wear that stuff, and whilst if I put some on it turned a pretty medium pink, when she put some on it turned a VERY bright orange! (Sadly she had hoped for that pink color.) The difference was almost alarming, but we were very dissimilar in many, many other ways, too. She was a tall, slender (almost willowy!), brunette, with a dark complexion & nearly black eyes, and I was a short, busty, rounded, blonde with pale skin and eyes that my eye doctor called "yellow." My blood type is O+, and hers was AB+ (she is now deceased for a number of years.) Genetic opposites? Oh, yeah, _VERY_ opposite. 😮

In coin terms that strike is known as a (D.D.O.) as double die obverse if it's the front or d d r if it's the back side the R standing for reverse . Or if the mint mark is doubled its called an r.p.m. or repunched mint mark. Quite a great find I've only saw 2 or 3 of those on KZbin being found.

Hello, I'm one of your recently added subscribers. I do a bit of research into my families ancestry. Great vid my friend … the double struck William 111 silver is a very nice find indeed … really enjoyed your history lesson on all your coin finds this time round .. your knowledge of royalty is impressive ..you’ve certainly done your homework … that could well be your specialist subject on mastermind …ha ha .. going back to the double struck silver …doesn’t that make it rare and valuable …I may be wrong of course …but I’m sure coin collectors of modern day coins particularly look for double struck coins or coins with abnormalities of any kind made at the mint ..which I believe adds value ..

The William III coin IS double struck and that makes it worth a great deal more money to collectors because of that fact, and it likely meant a great deal to whomever owned it before and they likely turned it into a necklace perhaps or a key fob like you mentioned. Also the age o fit as well as it being Silver, you have a very special coin my friend. it's likely you'll be asked by a great deal of collectors who want to buy it.

And its great to have metal detecting channel.that talks the history and not current market value. May be an artifact of the treasure reporting system in UK? Looking forward to how to vids, suggest you do shorter vids, each a chapters on part of the detecting guidance, and make a playlist that people can watch the whole set or parts they want to know about. Also, anyway you could set up playlists by field, so I could watch the whole set around one permission? (I know some vids have more than one permission involved, but then could be on two relevant playlists). Take care, be well.
