New Ping Blueprint Irons - Full Review

My son Ian who just graduated from college with a degree in sports management just went to work for PING Arizona starting in the manufacturing plant building PING clubs. He's been playing golf since he was 8 years old and is a 4 handicap. He told me he wanted to start at the bottom and earn his way up learning the PING brand from the bottom up. In the PING program he will move to Customer Service next, then into fittings and eventually he wants to become a Master Fitter working on the Pro Truck at PGA Tournaments. He's only 25 so he got a great future ahead of himself if he works hard and listens/learns! He told me the PING Blueprint S are sweet clubs and he really love them. PING has a program for employees that gets them fitted and into PING clubs at a great rate, so he's stoked to be able to play all kinds of PING clubs, drivers & putters. To say he's happy, would be an understatement. When you love what you do it's never a job!!!!!

I was at golf galaxy today and checking both the s and the t out… man they are good looking. Very good looking . I play mizuno pro 221 irons right now and I’m half tempted to go to a mix set with them with the s in the 6,5,4. They are very good looking clubs. I just need to hit them and make sure the my feel as good as the 221.

Went full S. No gimmicky hollow body flyers! I tried these and the Mizuno 923 forged and the ping had a softer but crisp feel. Consistent yardages.

Ping definitely strives for A+ quality. I agree pricey, however some players will buy. Myself, I play the G430 Pwr Spec. I love having all the wedge options. Also I had a great fitting experience with Ping.

I would love to see PING sponsor you Mark , s you have always liked their equipment and would like to see you go to Arizona to the Ping compound and get a full bag fitting of all their equipment and see how you would build your bag setup , that to me would be a highly entertaining video , as I have always liked and played many ping clubs through the years! Those Blueprints look amazingly good !!!!!!!!

Tested both S and T today and can tell you the T was the clear standout . OMG the T was the best feeling iron I've ever hit. It's the feel I've been looking for in a forged iron for years.The S felt similar to my TCBs and also reminded of a T150 feel, not quite as soft and satisfying as the T. Prices here in Australia are $415 per club !! Very expensive. Im tempted. Combo set..

Just seen the demo club in the pro shop. Looks great. Very clean cut reminds me of the Titleist MBs in the T version. The S looks clean and with a squat blade and no cavity seen just a top line. These sound and feel other forged clubs. Plenty of distance. Check’em out. Those prices though ! Ridiculous atm. I purchased the new T100s and have a small stone chip in the toe of my 9 iron.

They do. The i230 will work great for someone with that handicap. Same lofts as the blueprint so you can blend them if you want.

@@peterhammer6915 have you hit the I230? They are not a hollow body iron like for example the i525 or i530. They are cavity back with an additional insert to make them feel even softer. They feel like a forged iron.

Been loving my i230's, but I went and hit the Blueprint S and T when my local shop got them in. I loved both, I ended up ordering a set of 7-PW in the T's to offset my i230's. Really excited about getting my hands on them, great review Mark!

I'm not surprised you ordered the Ts. Great feeling iron and reasonably forgiving up to 7 iron. Are you using the i 230 for 5 and 6 iron to complete the set?

20 months ago I paid £12-1300 for 4-PW in the i525. It'll be at least the next generation before I have the uncomfortable conversation with the Mrs about a new set of irons. Just too expensive lately. For a game.that has.seen a massive rise in the number of participants, all the big brands could make record profits with a reduction in price. Plain greed I'm afraid.

They are certainly great "players' irons" but I'm a bit confused by the looks of them. If the plan is to allow combo sets, why not make them a little bit more similar from the back? Sure they look very much the same at address but in the bag, it's not really nice looking, that difference. My set is a combo P-8 MB and 7-4 CB but they look really quite close from the back.

Interesting that Ping are offering less custom shafts now than the previous og blueprint. I think this has got alot to do with more pros and low amateurs elite ball strikers going graphite composite shafts and steelfibre graphite offerings. Louis Oosthuizen just won 2 DP world titles back to back with a blended set with the Mitsubishi MMT 125g TX shaft. Performs like an iron shaft but just comes off friendlier without having to go after it. In 10 or 15 years time will steel shafts be phased out. Ok, matbe a little bit longer than that but the progression continues.

I'm a 13 handicap and just got fitted into these. Cobra forged tec 2021 model is what I play now. Great clubs but now I compress the ball more the distances and getting strange for me. Blueprint s gives me more stable of a ball flight

Think it was developed off the back of some of the ping tour players still playing the S55 which isn't a great look for ping given that it's an old model. They will be able to transition those players (Fitzpatrick for example) into the new model.

Don't buy into the idea that clubs have to fit into handicap ranges. If the numbers stack up then it doesn't matter if you're a 5 handicap or a 15 handicap. Granted the S and T are aimed at a sub 10 handicap golfer but they shouldn't be viewed exclusively as such. Demo them, you might be surprised. The S in particular is pretty forgiving off mis-hits from the reviews I have seen. I play off 9 and will be giving them a demo.

@jimwocha4949 oh I didn't say I'm not trying them, I said few people. Most players never get NEAR a 10 or less hcp and don't strike the ball well enough to not play game improvement irons. These are on my try list for sure.

My set of ping irons cost me £425 3 TO PW, PING, i10 and still to this day use them. The only thing I've changed over the years is my driver and wedges. And still have a brand new set of callaway forged wedges in the spare room.

The prices are really high when you consider you can buy a Mizuno blade for considerably less but they are great looking irons. I'd love a set but the price will keep me away unless I come into some unexpected money! Maybe Ping are trying to actually recoup some of the cost of making a club like this that will sell so few units.

I agree. Can’t they make a good looking players iron with a little more length? Certainly they can spread the weight around so it isn’t a sledgehammer. I saw these new irons yesterday and although they are gorgeous, they are still on the small side.
