Great review..this is the I series version of the g700 ,same hard powerful loud high launch but with slimmer looks.

Forgive my ignorance but how is this iron "forged" (by any reasonable sense of how that term is used by avid golfers) if it has a maraging steel face? Maraging steel is as far away from 1025 forged steel as you can get in terms of hardness. Seems like marketing sleight of hand to me. The G700 also has a 17-4 body with a maraging steel face and they don't label that as "forged".

Wish you could get your hands on the new Hogan Edge as a comparison. Similar design concept to the i500 and P790 so I suspect the feel would also be similar. It’s a bit ‘hard’ with off center hits but buttery soft for sweet spot strikes. I call it a great teaching club. Forgiving yet reminding.

Andy, I know the "help" is inside the hollow head, but I'd prefer to see a cavity back, instead of a blade look.

Hey Andy. I appreciate the great review. Play whatever music at whatever volume level you like. Sime people will complain about everything these days! Very interested in these again. Love my i200s and thought i would go i210, but im considering a combo set with the i500 and perhaps the iblade 8,9 and PW! Im sure the blue print will be awesome so i may just wait? Keep doing it anyway you want! Tim

Hi I had a set of g400's that marked up so badly after the first 2 rounds, Took the back, Really fancy these i500's. Just asking how is the finish lasting on the clubs. Are they marking up badly?

I was floored when I saw the spin numbers and I thought you'd be through the roof about it...lol. To get those kind of spin numbers on a 7 iron with 30 degrees of loft is something I never thought I'd see. The rate at which tech is improving for us average golfers is incredible. I'm going to check out the i210 review now and see what is happening there but this is definitely good news for us looking to buy another set of clubs soon. Just as an aside, maybe it's just the camera angle in the studio but it looks like you are taking a slightly shorter swing with the irons. Is this true? If so, how come? I've actually made that switch myself this season for better control and it definitely works for me.

I think that the acoustics and hard feel are being caused being caused by the unfilled hollow head design (if it were filled like the PXG and P790 they would "feel" softer. Sorry to be negative Andy but I have to agree with some of the other comments, the background music on this Vid is too loud and spoils what is an excellent Review.

"Forged", common use in golf = Made of soft 1025 steel. "Forged" metallurgical definition: ANY metal stamped in a press (not melted and poured into a mold). "Forged Insert": An extremely misleading term which implies a soft steel insert to golfers. Marketing is now using this term even for hard maraging steel inserts since they stamp them rather than cast them and therefore they consider them metallurgically "forged". In the way that golfers (not metallurgists) care about forging, this iron is not forged AT ALL.
