It's trying to search for it. What I do is I activate my bluetooth, if your phone has the option to make it appear as searchable do that, from there open the app and see if it can pick up your phone. Once it does, then go into the app settings and hook it up to your wifi. I don't think it can do 5ghz, it may have to be 2.4ghz so check your wifi settings on that. Both your phone and the Pit Boss has to be hooked up to the same wifi in order for them to communicate. Once all that happens the wifi light should stay solid. I hope this helps!

I can’t do 10 degree increments from 200-300 on the app. Is that just an app issue?

There should be a section where you can calibrate the app to let you know if you have the new and old version.

@@ElSenorBbq I bought the Pit Boss competition pellets to start. I hope they are good, I read they are a good starter pellet. Your thoughts on those?

They are pretty solid, if you look at some of my older videos, I use those pellets quite a bit. I still have a 40lb bag that is about halfway finished but for pork, I really enjoy it. It's good on beef as well, I just feel the lumberjack oak is better suited for that.

Did they do away with the graph? Purchased my 1150 yesterday and im unable to see a graph on the app

It should be present. I have the 1600 now and it still has the Graph Lytics. I'd uninstall and reinstall the app to see if it comes back.

Can you set high and low temperature alarms? How are you notified if there is an alarm? Can you start and stop the grill remotely? Thanks

You can set high and low temperature alarms. I had my phone on vibrate and it buzzed but if you have it on loud then it'll let you know. You can stop it but since I still have the brisket in currently I can't check to see if I can start it up again remotely.

Careful with the temp changing. Its screwed me a few times. I put it on S just to come.out and.find that its actually on H and it goes crazy

@@Jordanfiend361 well when i change the temp on the controller itself it is fine. But once i use the app is when sometimes it goes crazy. Maybe this update fixed it. Will have to try it out this weekend

Have you checked to see how strong your wifi signal is at the location of the smoker? You may have a very weak of no wifi signal at the smoker location.

It's very good!! So far it's been doing very good with this brisket being smoked on charcoal pellets so keep an eye out for that video as well :o

No but I think that would be a very good idea. I don't think they would go through the trouble of another update on the firmware unless there was another issue. It's mostly just the app update that most of us that had this smoker for almost a year have yet to see.

Yeah I been using it for the last few weeks and I love! It’s very convenient. Love how they constantly update it! I had no idea about the graph!! That’s super awesome!! Btw the issue with wifi usually means green means it’s connected.

@@ElSenorBbq it’s amazing. Hey btw the wifi issue for me kept not working because it was entering my password incorrectly because the app wants to auto correct my spelling. It kept telling me it could not connect to my wifi over and over until I snapped and took the hidden feature off and was able to see my password exactly with my own eyes. Hope that helps you bro. It’s also Case sensitive too so make sure it exactly how you enter for your wifi.

My biggest beef with the app is that as soon as you leave it, or lock your phone, it IMMEDIATELY sends you a notification - and if you read it/close it it IMMEDIATELY sends you another one as soon as you step away from the app again. I wish it would only notify you of things like your temp is 50 degrees above/below where you set it .. or the timer you set is up ... or your internet connection was lost. Useful notifications. But I just have to accept that it will send me a notification the SECOND I'm about to put my phone back in my pocket. So it's far from perfect, but it does seem to mostly work. Although I noticed that on my 1150 if I change the set temp through the app, I'll see some wild swings in temp on the grill - either higher or lower - until I change it on the grill controller itself. Not sure what's up with that.

I'll have to do more testing on mine and see whats up. Like I mentioned in the video, I never even thought about downloading the app because I have an inkbird and didn't see the benefit in using their app. Since I bought a new phone, I decided to go ahead and download it and found out so much had changed including the ability to graph!! I'll keep testing it and bring it up to Pit Boss if issues come up just as I reported the other issues early on with the first gen firmware. Cheers!

Excellent question, I have yet to try that out. Mainly because I'm personally not a fan of leaving the house with a smoker on and depending on any app regardless of who makes it to keep things going. Even if something small happens, you are away from home to do anything about it in that moment. I'll test it out though but its one of the reasons why I have not tried it out.

I've had the update for a while. Be careful. I've noticed that the app will randomly change the temperature on me without me setting it. Its happened a few times on me on different cooks

Good to hear! I've been smoking this brisket and all the changes in temp I've been able to do without the settings changing. I did have those issues with the previous app update but haven't experienced it so far. I'll keep an eye out for it for sure though. I'll stop using the inkbird and use the Pit boss App for the time being and really test it out! Thank you!

Thanks for all you do with the videos, really appreciate the knowledge you pass on. I picked up an 1150 recently, so far so good. Haven’t had any issues with the controller shutting down. Just wondering do you think a the pit boss 1150 could benefit from a thermal cover or a waste of money, thinking it may help regulate temps plus more efficient on pellets?

It may help with pellet efficiency aka not use as much to keep the temps steady. I haven't used one and it's been fine for sure!

Outstanding! I just found out about it because since the very first app that came out, it was so and so. Then the new firmware update came out but they never updated for the 10* increments so I left it alone. On top of that, they never had the ability to graph so I just got me an inkbird and called it a day so I never had a reason to get the new app. Thank you for confirming it's been working well!
