Mikey, I’ve watched every episode of Plane Savers and commend you and all your volunteers on the amazing transformation you have achieved with DTD. You have also shared with thousands of viewers, the history D- Day, and the important role played by C-47’s and their crews. But what has really impressed me is how you and Stella, working with the volunteers, and staff and students at ENA, have fostered a truly wonderful relationship between east and west, anglophone and francophone. I hope that all Canadians will try to follow your lead. Cheers!

Hey! We do have a few dozen Orendas sitting in a field in various conditions. I will check to see if we have any 8s 9s or 11s. Luckily those models are not the most desirable for industrial use, so it may be less then millions... If we have any, I will get back to you. I have a 10 and 14 in my shop right now. Those were used in the Sabre, but are 95% identical to those used in the CF-100. Also, although we have no aircraft parts, we have quite a collection of engine parts.

My good friend the late Ormond Haydon-Baillie ( sadly lost his life when the canopy of Cavalier Mustang I-BILL flew off in a display in Germany) ferried a CF-100 Canuck in 1975 from Canada to Duxford in the UK,his original plan was to get it flying as G-BCYK on the airshow circuit however those plans fell aside due to the circumstances at the time, despite this the aircraft sits today in the museum at Duxford in his memory to this day, seeing that fuselage reminded me of this excellent aircraft that served the RCAF so well in the cold war period. The cutting of wing spars is not uncommon in ex military aircraft and yes would be very expensive to get her flying again. As the ENA students get to grips with the ongoing wiring we are reminded of the redundant wiring still installed inside the airframe, perhaphs much of it is so firmly embedded in the old DC-3 that it would be best to leave it in situ ? much of that old original Omega navigation stuff is no longer of any use anyway. You are so right about saving the past Mikey, too much has already been lost and scrapped, thankfully the new museum will be able to consolidate what is still around, one aircraft that comes to mind is that rare Beech 18 sitting outside ENA the former PT nose mounted testbed airframe what a wonderful opportunity to save the aircraft and make a very attractive exhibit too.

Great to see William and Benjamin designing, manufacturing and installing parts that will fly on an aircraft (don't forget the PN's and the paperwork), nothing more rewarding than to say "I designed and built parts on that plane" to your kids someday when it flies over head ! ... . ps - Booby didn't make a mistake, he left a test for you youngsters to see if you were paying attention to detail ;-) . 'Save the day Nick', nice camera work but look out for those missing floor boards, I've seen many a visitor to the cabin where work is taking place, end up trying to walk on air unwittingly.
