My journey of an Eorzean lifetime began from asking myself one simple question on stream, Can a Classic WoW player start playing Final Fantasy XIV in June 2024 and catch up in time to be ready to join the new Dawntrail expansion?
This is my journey as a new player, a sprout, from WoW to FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, leading on through Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker and finally into the brand new expansion, Dawntrail.
Having played MMORPG's for over 20 years and being a long time World of Warcraft player from vanilla classic up to the latest expansion The War Within, I have seen and played A LOT of different MMO's over the years, but nothing could have prepared me for the adventures that await in Square Enix masterpiece, Final Fantasy 14.
A New Players First time entering Heavensward and reacting to the trailer after The shocking ending of FFXIV A Realm Reborn... with a surprise welcome party waiting for him!
So far on my Journey of an Eorzean Lifetime I 've gone from humble beginnings as a fresh sprout logging in for the first time to Eorzea, beginning the MSQ of A Realm Reborn, rolling credits on Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 MSQ and continuing the journey through all of the post ARR MSQ Patch content.
I've completed every raid and story contained within 2.1A Realm Awoken, 2.2 Through the Maelstrom, 2.3 Defenders of Eorzea, 2.4 Dreams of Ice and 2.5 Before the Fall. I've completed the epic story of The Binding Coils of Bahamut and every episode of Hildibrand to finally arrive at the SHOCKING end of A Realm Reborn, still a Sprout, still a new player of FFXIV but with a greater investment in the story... and now is the moment I enter Ishgard for the first time after watching the Heavensward trailer for the first time, and then meeting a surprise welcome party that shocked and blew me away!

Nothing gets me quite as hyped and emotional as watching a new player see these trailers for the first time. Especially Heavensward after ARR's ending. If I could experience one story for the first time all over again it would be FFXIV without a single doubt

I remember being recommended to watch your stream by a fellow member of Grinding Gear’s discord, as many in that community like find and support streamers getting into the 14 space. You were laying out your plans to go from zero to dawntrail in 30 days. Even though I didn’t say it at the time, I knew what would really happen was you either burning out quick and quitting or severely slowing down. I was happy to watch your ARR experience because most streamers skip out on that, and I stuck around when I saw your love for the game grow so quick that you gladly changed your plans about rushing to current content too quickly. Another reason why I love this game! From sprouts to seasoned players, the tradition of passing down wholesome in-game acts always restores my faith in the gamer community. "It was done for me, and now it's my turn to pay it forward to new players."

I also love guiding new players through runs too. Like the Stormblood 24-man raids, the last of which is still my favorite 24-man. I still remember one run where about half of us were new to the run, while the other half (which included me) were "veterans" who were very familiar with the run. We veterans kept quiet about how to do the run so that the newbies could experience it as "blind" as possible, and when we got to the third boss we wiped several times since the newbies were having trouble figuring out how to handle the boss and were clearly starting to feel bad, at which point I told them not to worry about it and that the boss in question is pretty much the hardest boss in the raid, and I was quickly backed up by the other "veterans", and we then walked them through how to handle the boss and cleared the fight on the very next attempt. And then before the final boss I remarked that the next boss wasn't as bad, and that there was one hectic part of the fight, but I did not elaborate any further. We wiped once (due to that exact "hectic" part of the fight killing too many people for us to complete the DPS/Heal check that followed), but we cleared the fight on the very next attempt. Lately I've also been running stuff as a Sage pretty often after being primarily a DPS player (though my main Job as DPS is RDM, so I can still act as a sort of "safety net" if things start to go south), and if I notice new players to the run, I'll keep an eye on them and try to help them survive, and failing that, get them back on their feet ASAP as long as there aren't more important targets to revive/heal at that exact moment. After all, we were all newbies once, so I'm happy to lend newbies a hand myself since I was once in the same position and relying on others to lend me a hand once before. As one of the lyrics for Answers goes: *"Look to those who walked before, to lead those who walk after."* :)

I really liked Heavensward. FFXIV was the first proper mmorpg that I've sunk hours into, started it during the Covid lockdowns. I enjoyed ARR, but Heavensward was much better I think. I hope you'll enjoy it too.

Awesome video Redzy!!! I was lucky enough to go to the Eorzean Symphony concert in London last year and they played the music from the Heavensward trailer, which was awesome and epic. The concert was so good and will always remember it. Soken is a genius!!! Once you’ve finished Endwalker I would recommend getting the Eorzean Symphony: Final Fantasy XIV Orchestral Album Vol 3 blu-ray. Welcome to Heavenward!!! Welcome to Ishgard. I actually played heavensward twice and noticed that there is a difference in NPC dialog during the MSQ depending on whether you have the Dragoon job quests finished or not. (Does this information count as a spoiler?)

Not a spoiler - the community let me know about that and so I levelled a DRG to 50 before patch 2.5 onwards and have been getting the extra dialogue 😁 Only a spoiler if you tell me what the extra stuff actually is! I think its so cool when you notice them, makes the game feel a lot more reactive and aware of your deeds.

@@RedzyTV then I guess they told you that in the Stormbringers expansion the MSQ has extra dialog if you complete certain side quests before continuing the MSQ.
