Some of these trailers really don't hit the same when you already know they're smash. Joker's trailer dropped during the game awards and it was a lot longer, nobody knew it was smash until the letter flipped around. Also the inkling trailer was the first time they revealed the game, nobody expected it until the logo appeared

Those two examples were genius moves on Nintendo part since the whole original Smash reveal was dropped since the previous stuff was all about Splatoon 2 lol. And the Joker dropped left me gagging lol. But yeah my biggest reaction was the Sora reveal since he was my pick for that one Smash Bros ballot and I am huge KH fan. All I have to say is THANK GOD my parents weren't home when that trailer dropped. My brother laughed at my reaction (he's not a KH fan, but he was happy for me lol).

Yeah the thing that was great about Ultimate was that it made sure it brought EVERY character that was in any of the past 4 Smash games, even if they only appeared once. Then topped it off with all the characters you just saw, each of these were brand new, introduced in Ultimate. The final total amount of characters once they finished the DLC with Sora is 82 Characters!

the older character reveal trailers are worth a watch too imo! also the "everyone is here" trailer from e3 2018 is super iconic, it showcases all the base characters in the game the crossovers in smash are really cool, besides the playable characters there are even items, stages, music, and more that represent other franchises

King K. Roll gave you so many Banjo-Kazooie vibes because almost all the Donkey Kong games where he appears were made by Rare before it was adquired by Microsoft. About Banjo, he was meant to appear since the first smash game, but at that moment Rare was adquired by Microsoft and Banjo left with it. People actually cried and said Banjo-Kazooie got back home when they saw the trailer. Sora's trailer was my favorite. I teared up when I saw that leyendary handshake between Sora and Mario. A scene like that was something the whole smash community was losing hope of watching come true at that point.

You know a trailer is good when a person who doesn't know many of the newcomer trailers hears "One Winged Angel" and immediately knows its Sephiroth. This is a series where if you're new, you miss out on a lot of the journey. As stated by other comments, the "EVERYONE IS HERE" trailer is so legendary simply because of how it showed every character from past games is coming back regardless of how "impossible" it seems. Keep in mind that before that trailer was shown everyone was trying to speculate on which characters would be cut or not. People were worried that their favorites wouldn't be in Ultimate. And then they completely negated those rumors by saying "Nope they're all here". And it's even crazier with Sora being the final character. In the previous Smash game, there was a poll for the fans to ask which character should be in Smash, and Sora was the Number 1 most requested pick across every region and if not number 1, it was Top 5. It's crazy to see the copyright for Disney whenever you boot up the game along with the other developers.

I’m a HUGE FF7 fan and when I saw this it was with the Nyancave live. I jokingly posted a donation to the channel right before the reveal trailer even STARTED “Sephiroth for Smash! I'm right there with you! My first video game system was ColecoVision, and I was playing Zaxxon, Smurfs, and Donkey Kong on it. I knew who DK was before I ever picked up a Nintendo controller for the first time. Playing Smash is a walk down the Memory Lane of my life! I've played nearly every franchise that is represented in it in some form or fashion, if not become acquainted with it in some way. This Banjo & Kazooie is based off the Nintendo version. They used to be owned by Nintendo before Microsoft bought the rights and made "Nuts & Bolts". Under Nintendo was made the orignal two games. Their announcement for Smash at the time was such a huge deal because this was their first time back home in a Nintendo game after nearly 20 years.

I remember not knowing Xeno 2 whatsoever before telling my friend their smash trailer was terrible and probably did a disservice to the og game, and he said it wasn't "that bad." I then booted up a friend's game of Xeno 2, played 60 hours of it, had never seen a story so good out of a video game, and almost cried during the ending cutscene. I promptly got on video call with my friend, and told him it was the worst trailer smash has made to represent the home series of the character(s). You could always go back and do all the character reveal trailers starting with the original game. Though, they didn't really do PROPER reveal trailers until Smash 4, there's a few scattered here and there for the first 3 games. Also, this didn't include the "everyone is here" video, which would have shown who "is NOT new" to this gane, Ultimate. (Save for Inkling, who was already revealed by then). Also, this left out the reveals for the echo fighters: Daisy, Dark Samus and Chrom. They didn't have full cinematic reveals, but they had splash screens. Lastly, the Joker "reveal" video in this was actually the second half of the overall reveal, and left off the ACTUAL reveal trailer part...which was a magnificently executed hacking of the game awards the night before Smash Ultimate was gonna release. (Dec 8, 2018, with the game awards on the night of the 7th.) You should really see THAT version of Joker's reveal.

Now. For people who are new to smash entirely for the smash reveal. It wouldn’t make sense. But because of the fact Octo Expansion just got revealed ppl thought it was more splatoon, until the smash ball. ((“There’s someone from Zelda.” *Z e l d a right there.* When they froze everyone, that’s a reference to amiibo (figurines like funko) and trophies from SSBB. Him saying Mickey Mouse, others saying Sora. Please, for the love of god, play some of the fighters’ respective games, some of the best of all time according to game journalists. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the highest rated game of all time. Crap, you don’t know the KH story?! brb!

The tale begins in the Age of Fairy Tales where the Master of Masters has entrusted each of his five apprentices with a copy of the Book of Prophecies - a tome that contains the future but also contains other power like the ability to create worlds. The Book foretells of a dire event coming where all out war will consume the world and Darkness will swallow the Light. The Master of Masters warns his apprentices that this event is set in stone and is impossible to change, so not to fixate on it. Instead, plan for what comes next. He also bestows a special task on each of his apprentices: Ira is given the task of being the leader, Aced is given the task of supporting Ira and taking his place should Ira prove unreliable at his task, Invi was tasked with observing her fellow apprentices and acting as a mediator, Ava was given the goal of training ‘dandelions’ - keyblade wielders that will go forth after the war to help rebuild, and Gula was given a ‘missing page’ from the Book of Prophecy that speaks of a traitor and is tasked with discovering who it is. The Master of Masters final apprentice - Luxu - who was not given a copy of the book. Instead, Luxu was entrusted with the Master of Masters’ keyblade that had one of his eyes grafted into it and told to take the keyblade and use it to witness the events in the future, so the Masters current self could see them and create the Book of Prophecies. He also entrusts Luxu with a trunk that he is told to never open. With that done, the Master of Masters vanishes without a trace and shortly after Luxu does as well.

The remaining five apprentices go about their other main task - the formation of Unions. Unions would be a unified team of Keyblade wielders that would work to carry out each Union’s goals, namely the gathering of Lux (Light) from various worlds that are eventually revealed to be artificial worlds created by the Book of Prophecies. This goal eventually starts to drive a wedge between the five apprentices - now called Foretellers - as accusations of stealing Lux and fierce competition creates animosity between the Unions. All the while behind the scenes, the Foretellers grow increasingly worried about a potential Traitor among them and begin to plot against each other. Finally, with the Unions at each other’s throats and the Foretellers turned against each other, do all five go to war. In an event that history would come to know as the Keyblade War, scores of keyblade wielders died in a fierce battle between the Unions to lay claim to the light for their own faction. Kingdom Hearts, the source of all Light, was swallowed up by the darkness and on a hill in the distance stands Luxu, holding the Master of Masters’ keyblade

Following the events of the Keyblade War, the Keyblade Wielders that survived awoke in various worlds that they had visited in that were created by the Book of Prophecy. The Keyblade War remembered only as a terrible dream as they continued on their adventures and making friends in Daybreak Town and various worlds.

However, things weren’t like they were before. The Foretellers were gone. In their place, five specially selected members of the Dandelions were to take over and form new Unions and lead the remaining Keyblade Wielders. They were presented with special books that would guide them crafted by Master Ava. One girl who received such a book - Sterletzia - is murdered by a shadowy figure and her book stolen. The other new leaders assemble: Skuld & Ephemera (friends of the player character), Brain - an inquisitive fellow who hides his face with a big hat, Lauriam - a pink haired boy and Sterletzia’s brother, and Ventus - a blonde kid. They begin to work together to figure out solutions for those who remain and how best to move forward. To assist them, a single copy of the Book of Prophecy was left in the Foreteller’s Tower for them. So they start, not knowing that one among them isn’t supposed to be there.

Meanwhile, Malificent has appeared within the world and has begun to try to enact her plan before Sora could even exist. But despite her knowledge of the future, she cannot even succeed in the Enchanted Dominion let alone escape to the outside like she had before. A shadowy figure appears to confront her explaining that she can’t change the scenario that’s been created. Inquiring further, the Shadow explains to Maleficent that without the Book of Prophecy, no worlds could be created. So in preparation for the events after the Keyblade War - Data Worlds were created instead. All of the worlds that the Book of Prophecy created were re-created in Data Form for the Keyblade Wielders. When Maleficent leapt through time, she didn’t land in her Enchanted Dominion but the data version. Because of that, she is stuck in the same loop regardless of what she tries to do. However, the shadowy figure can help her get back to her own time.

I can't begin to tell you how many people freaked out when Sora got confirmed. He was kinda like Goku in that people wanted him to be in the game, some actually did while some did it for the joke or meme, but we knew it wouldn't happen due to either legal reasons of what qualified a character for being considered. When it was announced that the final character would be announced, everyone's money was on Waluigi (for the meme and the fact it was a character many did actually want), so when Sora was confirmed and then it was revealed Sakurai had wanted Sora to be in the game for a while, everyone went wild, especially the people who were in the Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy fandoms. I do recommend giving the games a try, especially if you enjoy Disney or the Final Fantasy games. They're not as confusing as most people make them out to be, at least to me anyways. Just play or watch the cutscenes in the order they were released, even games that at first glance seem like side titles, and you should be fine. Truly a zoomer moment :D Although the zoomer would probably fit almost anywhere in this video as most third party characters are either very retro or have a lot of references to their retro legacy. And the last part of me saying that zoomer moment would fit anywhere is a statement of fact. Lol love to see someone who has NO idea of the monumental achievement that is Smash Ultimate...hell the whole franchise in general....the original commercial is like the best advertisement for a Video Game ever! Personally my most hype moments were Banjo-Kazooie, Sephiroth and Sora. And yes Mewtwo was an old character first introduced in Super Smash Melee back on the gamecube....but what makes Ultimate so special is it had ALL of the characters and then they kept adding more and more. A true achievement in my opinion.....plus the game is soooooooo fun and is deceptively skill based despite its simplicity. My main is Samus lol.

The reasons Sora's intro was the way it was is because of 2 reasons. Firstly, he is the final fighter, no more are being added. Secondly, people have wanted him in the series for a very, very long time but Disney kept saying no.
