I just started getting into learning about the series so this channel is beyond useful. I was planning on buying Gallop Racer 1 for PS1 since that had a US release. Am I missing anything good by getting the original? If GP3 is by far the best for PS1 though I can just emulate that if need be, Thanks!

hey daniel thanks for that feedback I really appreciate it and I'm glad this channel has been able to help you! I honestly don't think you're missing anything from the original, I play this game on the Emulator myself! And the best part is, we can save whenever we want, reload a save file as much as you want as well. I'd recommend just getting the game on an Emulator! Best investment forsure!

I can not find an answer to this, but I'm wondering, what are the game controls? And what are you supposed to press during the race to accelerate (other then the whip)? I understand about the horses and the form, conditions, etc. But I just don't understand what I'm supposed to press during the race? So I press Up at the gate, sit and press nothing, until I whip near the end, about 2 furlongs in? That's what I'm gathering but I still don't know.

Hm. Not sure if there is a "significant" one but the routine one for most people starts at 2.3

Do you know specific requirements for universal cup? I try to collect title. But it frustrating me sometimes my horse can join universal cup at 4 years old, sometimes they don't (even though they win world turf champ the year before)

I think you have to hit a certain number in order to qualify but I can't remember off the top of my head because every year I always have several horses that can compete in the race. If you haven't joined our discord (link is in the description) someone there could DEFINITELY help you out a lot better than I can! I would not want to mislead you!

I just hit the UP directional button as soon as the gates open. You can try double tapping the UP direction button before & during when the gates are open
