I have just upgraded my pole to the Daiwa Connoisseur G90. Here is why...

I did the same for the same reasons, I love my G90. I use Preston DWA top kits, they are a lot cheaper and just as good as Daiwa ones. all the best Richard.

Great advice - thank you! I like Tri-Cast gear and they have produced some seriously under-rated rods and poles over the years but their spares service is horrendous compared to Daiwa. Agree with RichT about the Preston DWA tips too.

I’ve got a G20 and can’t fault it had some massive carp on it and trust it to land anything I hook

Just bought one maté compared it to the X50 and Superium carp . It was a no brainier .Have you tried the Preston’s top kits on it.👍

I wouldn’t call that stiff at 16m it looks horrendous and hard work the Tricast looked stiff better balanced and truth be known probably a lot stronger. You have gone backwards imo I’d have kept the Tricast and bought the Perseption top kits if you Carnt afford the Excellence 980 kits.

Carp pack or Match pack? I cannot make up my mind given I fish both canals and large lakes

Hi Steven. I’d probably go for the match pack if you are fishing mainly natural venues! You still get a few power kits aswell if you need some stronger elastics!

I have an old Whiaker AU and I am thinking about upgrading to a G90. Is there much difference between the 2 in terms of balance and feel at 14m

Hi Wayne, the tulips are a Seymo tulip. I don’t think they are readily available anymore as they are a discontinued product. But if you search online I’m sure you will be able to find some.

Hi Paul. It’s hard to compare both poles as the tricast was a top of the range pole so it was a lot stiffer than my G90, especially when you are fishing at 16m. But this G90 is really strong and durable which suits the type of venues I fish and I use a short 4 and a short f1 kit most of the time so that helps to make it more responsive.

@@iveywebb44 I got a g90 last September, honestly struggled with it at 16m until I set myself up correctly on my box,fished it at 16m for.majority of five hour match last weekend,wasnt easy but also was uncomfortable. Had two double figure fish at 16m aswell,I love it.
