Everyone’s been worried about only 8 voices.. to me, if one section was a bass and one was and arp, you still have 6 voices for chords… it feels like enough to me in this regard.

Interesting. I heard it’s 8 polyphony. That’s very tight and would mean lots of note cutoffs. I guess they really want a mono and a lead for two of the three layers. Need to see more fm modulation options and wavetable stuff. Could be tempted at 249. Not 499 or is it 399? It’s promising though. I’m sure a few updates and features can be added. Logically laid out, but seems like you have to do quite a lot of menu diving to craft the sounds
@sutekh137Ай бұрын
I agree, to an extent -- but not so much menu diving as menu changing, and that little screen has to be quite the chameleon. Still seems pretty educational though (for a new squirt like me). I don't get how this thing works from the video. Probably has to do w/ the menu diving you describe. Synths cheaper as this one with one function per knob are more fun. And playing a synth with a matrix of buttons? Pffffff. The horror, the horror! Look at how Jack plays this turd: do you see yourself doing that? Jack really dogged the Roland AX-Edge lol. I think most people on KZbin are reluctant to completely shit on a product because there’s always somebody out there that it might be perfect for, even if it’s not their bag. It’s really up to you to watch, consider the pros and cons, and decide if you like what it offers or not.
@sutekh137Ай бұрын
I have watched a bunch of videos, and one criticism is the CPU can get laggy when drawing the screen, and it might labor in other ways as well. Also, no audio-out via USB (not sure what that means), and the hardware inside looks to not even support that. Some folks are afraid Polyend will release the "Synth+" in 9 months and piss a lot of people off.

@mclarensmps, Illegitimate complaint. The Tracker was going strong for how many years with great firmware updates and support? The original Play likewise received updates and is still well supported by the manufacturer. The Play+ situation is not the company’s usual MO. More than likely the original was a compromise due to chip and material shortages that lasted most of 2020 and 2021. I’m not thrilled about it (as I bought the original Play when it first came out), but I do feel like the Play is worth every dollar (it’s a fantastic deal at $499 current price).
