I have both cars a Carrera 4S and a GT3. They are completely different characters. A GTS is for traveling, from a to b, a GT3 is for driving out of your garage, have fun for two hours and drive right back into it. But those two hours are topped by absolutely nothing. A. GT 3 is a complete class by itsself.

I had until recently a 991.2 GTS with PDK and just upgraded to a 991.2 GT3 Touring. The GTS is fantastic, probably faster in a straight line, and comfortable. However, it left me wanting more. The GT3 gives that to me. It’s harder to drive and is a lot less practical and comfortable (bucket seats), but you can’t beat it for raw emotion, if that trade-off is worth it to you. I find the ride to be marginally stiffer and of course it sits lower. The steering is more precise and gives me much more confidence in the corners. Completely different cars and can’t go wrong either way. Btw love your videos. You’re very articulate and knowledgeable. And the rock music is cool.

Agreed, except I think the road noise, suspension, and rpm range of torque usability as a daily driver in the gt3 is not optimal for most people. It is simply too extreme. As far as the comfort factor, ordered my 992 Touring with the 18 way seats and they are great. I love all the road noise, the suspension and rpm range, especially with the third pedal. If you are into that, the gt3 is awesome! Enjoy your car.

The 911 is a car that gets under your skin in a way that if ever you own one and then sell it you just know you will want another. There really is one for everyone. The Turbo S just does everything, GT3 is an aural delight. The base Carrera is pure 911 and wonderful. The GTS is the absolute consummate all-rounder. But If I had to choose a body style to turn heads it would be the 992 GTS Targa 4. It might be the heaviest, but it will get you from A to B in style. That folding roof is really handy when you want to pack things in when touring too, it gives great access! If you are fit enough to get in and out, plus you can afford one it will be a car you will not regret buying! The perfect sports car. Graet video as always Roger!

I just had the opportunity to drive these 2 back to back and without having the time to watch this video yet I can say with absolute certainty that they are nothing alike and it’s almost amazing that they start off from the same basic platform. The GT3 while being noticeably less torque sounds night and day better, the gearbox of the GT3 was also far superior to the much more vague 7-spd in the GTS but the biggest difference is undoubtedly in the steering response and precision of the GT3 as well as the suspension seems so much more dialed in without a huge detriment to the ride. It felt like the GTS rode higher and was actually more crashy over bumps which was very surprising to me because it didn’t feel a lot more dailyable or livable but moral of the story is anyone that says the GTS is a slightly less GT3 is a complete idiot (and I’ve read quite a few reviews/watched videos saying such things). The GTS is a glorified Carrera S which is what I drive, GT3 is a totally different car, it literally blew me away and I now understand why people pay ridiculous premiums for them.

Having driven a Cayman S for three years I can say I am truly a convert over to Porsche. Simply amazing driving experience. Having said that, this whole allocation process and “getting on a three year wait list” is absurd. Porsche should simply build the amount of cars that are ordered. Everyone would be much happier and satisfied. Why would any manufacturer of any product want to limit what they build thus reducing sales? As for building cache with artificial limits of availability? In my estimation that strategy only creates animosity and disgust.

What about the Cayman GTS? It is lighter and comes with the 4 litre NA engine. So you can use more of the performance more of the time and has some of the sound of a GT3/4. Do you recommend going for the rear wheel steering and 10 mm lowered suspension? Does the latter greatly impact the ride compliancy?

Hi Deepak, 10mm lowered suspension is hard to detect in real life so I'd have little worry there, the rear wheel steer is excellent and worth having in my opinion - Roger

Thanks for the video. Looks awesome in black. My 4 GTS order just locked in PTS Sports Classic Grey, but this spec with the yellow carbons ceramics is making me second guess that choice!

I considered a PTS color for my 4 GTS. Save your money unless you are optioning a uniquely eye popping PTS color, which Sports Classic Grey is not.

@@TuvingtonD im with you, no point in ordering grey for PTS personally, my 991.2 GTS was viper green, and ive gone for Signal yellow this time :)

Would had been funny to see the reaction of your grandson in the GTS (boring, let's go back to the GT3 😉). Interesting video, but to me both cars doesn't really compare to eachother, because the purpose for both is different. The one is basically a race car (even the 992 touring as many complain) that you buy for weekend fun, while the other is more aimed to be a fast daily driver. I don't think anyone would take the GTS for track driving, if he had the chance to get a GT3 instead. So when you look at it from the purpose perspective, the comparison between GTS and Turbo/Turbo S might be better, since they also are meant to be daily drivers.

The GT3 is the it car of today. But the GTS will be the it car of the future. I predict that there is going to be a big change in the car world. We are going to go from the highest possible performance, highest possible speed, and any/all features that make a car more racecar like... to a market that wants better interior design, more comfortable ride, better fuel economy, etc which is the GTS.

Is it worth upgrading from a rwd 991.2 gts with rws to the 992 s or 992gts?
@RogerBaileyOnCars2 жыл бұрын
its worth taking a test drive of the 992's, they are quite different in feel to the 991.2

Hi Roger. I am thinking about getting a GTS Cab by trading in my AMG GTR. Do you think that I will feel a short of performance with GTS?
@RogerBaileyOnCars2 жыл бұрын
A bit probably, GTS is more civilised than a GTR & any small short fall in acceleration is made up by the GTS being able to put it down better, GTS a more accurate steer.
