I just bought one of these on Black Friday special, under 400.00 to the door and free freight. I’ve had a eu3000 Honda for years and love it but at way over 100# it’s to much for 74 year old shoulders and legs. Seems to be a nice unit, I ordered it after I saw this vid a couple of weeks ago because of your comparison. A good friend we camp with quite often has the Genmax with almost 700 hours on it with no issues so I decided to roll the dice on a lightweight high output generator.

That's the deal I need. I have it saved to see if they do that $400 deal again, but even the $459 it's on sale for now is nuts for 4000/3200 and only 50 lbs. That light weight is the difference maker for me. This thing weighs what most 2000-watt generators weigh.

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for this little video. You saved me some money. I just ordered the P brand 4000 df from Wally. $589 shipped plus around $60 for the 3 year extended warranty. I’m hoping it’ll serve for a while during those occasional power outages. I just need to keep the fridge cold and a few lights, the tv and my router running. I’m guessing this should handle it just fine. Thanks again-

I will for sure. I’m kind of a nerd for these types of little engines but definitely not super mechanical. I’m thinking of trying to get an extra carburetor to just have it around and a couple extra spark plugs. Beyond that, if anything breaks down I’ll be looking for a small engine repair shop. I’ll let you know how it runs. I plan of trying it with gasoline and propane.

Hello Johnny!! I hope all is going well!! Another great video!! Thank you for sharing it! It is amazing to see these cheaper, more portable options to hit the market!! My maxpeedingrod continues to serve well. However, ha...I rarely have to use it due to the more robust solar system installed. And....here in Colorado, as with most of the western US, the sun is usually really great! My generator is a great stand by if we opt to camp in the woods. Have a great weekend!

Any recommendation for paralleling 2 of these and running two RV AC's. I am looking at the DK4000iAED as my primary since it has remote start and dual fuel. Then when second AC is needed using the DK4000iSA. We live in the desert, so it is always 90+ when camping. Are there other options you would recommend for this setup? I do have a soft start on both AC's.

That would be a fine setup to use two small units that way when minimal power is need you can run on me small gen to save fuel and then the second when both ac units and more power is needed. How ever Im having some troubles with this company, and if they cant take care of me as a representative or reviewer then how will they handle customers who need support. Genmax is the maker of these units and can be bought directly from them for just a little more. And then you skip the third party company. Maybe they can resolve something and maybe not but I believe communication is important and so far they are lacking severely on that part. So unless they figure them selves out then I wont recommend these as you may never hear from them for warranty or questions and more. Even though I always suggest a warranty as its just good assurance. Let me know if you have questions on the genmax models. I also just did a review on the new series model that just came out. More are also on the way.

@@johnnysweekends Thank you so much for the reply. I have had issues with support from other vendors, so I do not want to go down that road. Perhaps with soft starts, the GM3500iAED paired with the GM2800iSAC would be a solid choice. I like the remote start as the primary and am trying to stay with the 1.7-gallon fuel tanks to avoid constant refills.

When it comes to sound isn't every 3db doubling the sound volume?

Sound is measured in pressure. Yes every 3 db is considered a double in pressure but not overall volume. As humans only really notice a notable level change at around 7db more. A trained ear could here a difference sooner but then you are concentrating on it and really paying attention verses doing doing normal things around the generator.

Well really up to you. The electric start is nice and you have back up pull start. But always nice to have more power so the gen doesn’t work as hard.

If you want the quietest the Honda eu2200i beats everything. Plan and simple. It’s rated power is 1800 watts and starting of 2200 watts. It’s $1200 ish pending where you buy it. Everything else ends up being very close by about one db. Champion 2500 Aipower 2000 These generators are around the same price and power… Maxpeedingrods Pulsar Genmax Or this new poxurio The benefits are a larger engine for when you need power and the prices of these are all under $1000 So depending on what you are powering and what you need. But you don’t buy a 1800 watt generator to power a consistent 1700 watt load for ever. You burn way more fuel that way and wear them out quicker

My only problem with all these cheap generators is getting them repaired if there is issues. Called Maxpeedingrods this week and asked them questions about getting the mrx3500 repaired and all the guy could tell me was that they are a warehouse and not a service provider and couldn't give me any info on where to take it if there was issues. I like that these are crazy price comparative towards a honda. But at the price of not being able to fix them? Not exactly comforting when spending money on something like these.

They have a parts warehouse in San Diego Some small engine shops do work on these. Just have to ask. But when a Honda breaks after the parts and a service fee at a Honda dealer, you just paid for one of these. Shop rate is over $100 hr. Normally a $150 minimum it seems now. Or you find a back yard mechanic friend who can work on the simple stuff. Carbs are cheap to replace like $35 or less and a few other small items

So AC has a soft start? Ill admit carrying around these smaller units is way nicer. They will be a little louder in the mid range and upper load areas,because obviously they are smaller and not as large of a box and muffler around them. But size and weight again are sure nice. I think if you just stay around one AC unit and sure a tv that’s easy on them. Add a fridge or even converter you are going to be around 2000-2400 watts. So that’s when i notice it gets a little louder. But I only bring these small ones for a AC unit. Everything else is on battery or gas when batts are getting low and maybe i dont want to burn my reserves. Other than that I dont use a gen that much. Again only for one ac unit which is about 1450-1600 watts or so. Unless I get away with my small one at about 9000-1100 watts

Yea that’s the thing the Honda is almost at 100% load with one 15k AC and the converter on. Kill any unit quick that way. Hence these are nice, are wanting to buy right away?

A cheap generators release a lot of metal into the oil you got to change the oil two times the first time you use it! replace the spark plug as they always use cheap spark plugs just so it proved it runs lol make a big sound difference always use 4-stroke small engine oil not car oil this oil needs to be clear like water😂 some synthetic oil tells you how many hours it gives you! Some 50 hours or 100 to 200 hours

Generac is Chinese made and not generac. Only the large home units or large portable units are made elsewhere. And many of these off brands have been provinding thousands of hours of service. Sometimes its the user who causes premature death lol. But again there’s are choices. When people ask me what is the best car, well you should own a Toyota first or Honda for longevity. Same with a gen Yamaha or Honda, but you will pay for it and it will cost over double if not triple for a much smaller powered unit. So this give options. Now if you dont strain your generators and say run them around that 30-805 mark most the time and do the normal service i bet they will last fine. And if the Honda runs 5000 hours and you get 3000 hours out of these, well then you are way ahead in terms of dollars spent. Nothing wrong with Honda what so ever, i have owned several, still have two.
