If you do the chess pieces, it could maybe involve a pawn promotion. The pawn could change into a queen, rook, bishop, or knight similar to one of the transformers robots.

A spaceship would be very interesting and something new. You could even implement some ember gen simulations for the thrusters or some form of warp drive. The environment or potential animation could also be very interesting. (It could land/ take off/ fly through some asteroids…)

@@Polyfjord2 yeay spaceship:) I spent quite some time on building the millenium falken (with enterieur +50 hours) and than i let it transform into a giant robot, really enyoed that and 100% putting 100 hours in:)... and i really recomend u to get (if u havent allready) boxcutter and hard ops it makes ur life much easier... also u should learn what decals r (basically single planes with bumped sci-fy stickers like srews and sci fy panels, ur spaceship looks soooo detailed than with relativly low effort... i did a realistic hulkbuster with that super fast) cant wait to see what ull come up with, u r still my blender inspiration Nr 1 !

Whilst I'd live to see a spaceship in your style, I'm more excited by the chess set. Not only do you have 6 types on pieces to design and rig (king, queen, bishop, rook, knight and pawn), you also have have the board itself which could be an additional rigged and animated element. Imagine the king and queens squares being raised each time a pawn is taken for instance. It has a lot of scope for quirkiness.

If it's 100 hours I feel the spaceship may be easier to fill that time and not run into blockages, but then the tiny robot/chess set could get super detailed with 100 hours dedicated to them. I love your style though and I can see it lending itself more to the tiny robot personally so I would say that

I'm a huge fan of this idea! I think I prefer the spaceship (because we've never seen you make one before) but the chessboard might also be really cool! Whatever you choose, I think it would be cool if you could record the whole creation process, and then make a video out of it (maybe you've already planned to do this). Can't wait to see more of this project!

I've seen a spaceship, i've seen a robot, but inthink i never saw a really cool sci fi chess, on a cool sci fi board, with several levels. Pieces can fly, moove, transform, fight... Lots of possibilities and lots of creativity.

I think the spaceship would be the best project. You could animate pretty much any scene with it, like a fight scene or a it leaving a planet. Or even it as a ruin overgrown with plants and moss.

hey hey, how about going completely out of your comfort zone and instead of choosing one of those 3 options, do something that you haven't done before? I live in northern Scandinavia too, and even though I've lived here almost all my life, I still find the nature and scenery breathtaking. maybe draw some inspiration from nature?

Good points!! I'll definitely try and go outside of my comfort zone regardless of what I pick of the three! And 100 hours will be a lot, so I think I'll take inspiration from nature, yes! For comparison, I usually spend max 20-40 hours on a single scene, so it could be really interesting to see how it will end up

A chess set where the Rock is a robot, knight is a vehicle of some sort, queen rides the spaceship and blast the whole set with laser, give king literally the NUKE power, bishop has thrusters making him move really fast and kinda uncontrollable. pawns have guns. yeah very ambitious but this project is also the same haha.

I really like the idea of the spaceship. You could make some extremely complex thrust vectoring system using your mechanical creature kit and inverse kinematics skills. It might end up rather fragile looking, similar to the style of some things you've been creating recently. Or perhaps a really cool robot playing chess... or robot chess pieces? Like wizard's chess, except it's realistic (ish) since the pieces are miniature robots! Edit: I wrote the robot chess pieces idea before you mentioned a sci fi theme. Seems to fit perfectly 👀 Now I really like the robot chess pieces idea. It can also tie into @oodoodoopoopoo's idea about pawn promotions quite well. Also, why not put the chess set inside a space ship/station for good measure? I'm usually biased towards spaceships a bit like Benny from the lego movie (SPACESHIP kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4axZ36GlMSisK8) but I think the chess set could get very complex and interesting for 100 hours of work. My mind was mostly attracted to the robot! The chess set might be a bit too much - it sounds like you want to work on something singular, and make it *really* good - but to my mind, making a chess set feels more like 7 projects (6 different pieces + 1 board), so that might mess with your flow But if that wouldn't be an issue - another option could be combining the chess set and the robot ideas! Spend maybe maybe 10-20 hours creating a robot design, really just focus on getting the "flavour" right - and then use that as a template/inspiration for chess pieces! You could have a chess set populated by tiny robots all in the same style!

My thoughts exactly on the chess set being multiple smaller projects yeah! That's what's so appealing with the spaceship or robot, is that it will be 100 actual hours on one character/object. But the chess set as tiny robots is definitely something I'd be interesting in as well!

I think it would be so cool if you made a chess set that plays normally with music in the background. The music has a dramatic and calm mode and as soon as the dramatic comes on then the chess pieces become realistic in some sort, then when the music goes back to classical it becomes simple chess again.

The spaceships, here’s my reasoning. A spaceship has infinite designs which could become infinitely complex. In theory this will be the one which takes the most amount of time and will be the most interesting. Like designs for spaceships are really on a wide spectrum. Take for example a spaceship from science fiction, let’s say a spaceship called the TARDIS, if you search this spaceship’s interior it looks alive and bursting with personality, but if you search a spaceship from let’s say Star Wars, they look cold and sleek like as if designed in a factory. So therefore a spaceship would be the most interesting and time consuming option. You could really push the definition of what a spaceship is, you could get really creative with the right inspiration

You could make, like tiny little (which are approximately the same size as the pieces) robots which are a bit clumsy but are playing Chess against each other. They would keep knocking other pieces down on their way to move pieces. Maybe sometimes forcing Rooks(Or Castles) which are very heavy to move, which would be pretty funny IDK if all this is possible in 100hrs but just an idea If you do this or anything really, please do a breakdown video like you did with your HQ and the other thing.
