I find the idea of musical projects that are explicitly complimentary to one another very interesting. In order to make a coherent artistic statement, one has to commit to a certain aesthetic (within a project), but that can at times be limiting, if ones influences are many and far-flung. Ever since I knew that I wanted to write music, I've been working at merging all of my influences into a coherent whole, but coming at the same idea from two diametrically opposed sides (within ones own aesthetic preferences, nonetheless) might paint a sharper picture. Food for thought. In the past years, I've often heard people argue that we're currently in a similar global situation and athmosphere as at the turn of the century 100 years ago. While I'm not sure I 100% agree with that, the accelerationists (of the Nick Land persuasion, at least) definitely remind me in a certain way of the futurists of the 1910s and 20s, although accelerationism was conceived earlier (relative to now vs. futurism to 100 years ago), and futurism lacked the pessimism of accelerationism. But I think there's definite parallels there in the fascination with the machine ("dissolving of man into machine"), opposition to feminism etc., and increasing association with far-right ideology (futurism pretty much becoming absorbed into fascism in the 20s). Also, now that I've read up (a little! :P) on Nick Land and Moldbug, I suppose "Live out my days warm inside the cathedral/beneath a dome of human stars" is a reference to/a repudiation of the latter. I think I've said it before, but that's a beautiful line.

Yeah i didn’t really conceive of the two projects as foils. They just are turning out that way

Rhetorical: Do you really think anyone listening to music, particularly metal music, is actually interested in thinking at all in 2020? You've seen the fans, you've seen the bands.

ha I'm not sure that's true! I know many very thoughtful metal heads
