Hi! I know I am a bit late to the party but this video was very helpful. Your log especially. One of the things mentioned on another channel was whenever there's a status change in a dog to just take them outside. Eat? Take outside. Wake up from a nap? Outside. Done playing? Outside. Further, there is also some info out there that puppies can't fully go to the bathroom in one go and even when you take them outside and they do their business, you should wait a little bit longer as there's generally more work for them to complete :) Anyway, thanks for the video! I'm watching these in anticipation of getting our own golden cavapoo on 7/20.

How adorable Sawyer! Love everything about it! Subscribed My now 15 week Snorkie (mini schnauzer/Yorkie mix) Lola is a HAND FULL but I wouldn’t trade her. She loves when you talk to her and her first night was amazing. She slept the entire night! Probably because she had a big day flying from Texas to Seattle! We’ve had her 5 weeks and she knows a pretty good list of commands and has her favorite things to do with each of us. She even loves our son who is a soldier who lives 30 mins away! She is very loving and loves attention.

Thanks for all these videos! I'm really enjoying watching Sawyer! We lost our Missy on 2/20/21 I doubt I'll ever get over it. She was my 1st ever puppy! We have her brother Max still thankfully, but I miss her terribly!! I was never allowed to have or even be near any pets! For my 47th birthday we got Molly a rescue, but all the rescue puppies were a LOT more than Missy & Max were each! I found a landmine by our bed 1 night. I have IBS & he does too, but we use the pee pads inside as both were already trained on them, so they did great on them. You're so wonderful with all of them! Thanks again for sharing! I'm really missing Missy & Molly!

Nice job mom! As he gets older u may even try bells tied to door nob low enough for him to reach. Each time u take him out have him hit the bells with his paw,First. Piper still uses the bells to let us know she has to potty. ❤my cav❤

So cute Sawyer is! I adopted a Cavapoo one month ago as well, I can see lots of same behavior between Sawyer and my girl, some slight differences such as if I put my girl inside the playpen, she not only crying, but also jumping and hitting the playpen, also, looks they're all licking our hands, but my girl then immediately trying to mouth hold your fingers one by one. I have always had rescue dogs, never a puppy and thinking about a king cavalier or cavapoo because of there temperament of being the best for companionship. Our others were much larger, but potty trained for the most part. Thank you for your video..... I will do a lot of learning through the winter and hopefully have a lot more knowledge of puppies when the weather gets warmer. Am learning we also have an option for school for manners if I need. He is so cute!

I'm so glad you shared this. I got my 9-week-old Cavalier puppy on Monday and after the first full day I decided to keep track of his bathroom times like you suggested. I thought he was going SO much but watching this again, it has actually been a tad less than Sawyer so it must be normal! Do you recall when it started being less times outside?? Mine is currently peeing around 15 times and pooping 6-7. Thanks!

I would say you have another month of it being pretty intense, but around 14-16 weeks it changes a lot (much easier). For Sawyer I’d say 5-6 mos old he was almost all the way there, but if no one was home, I’d definitely put him in his crate! I’ve heard breeders say don’t fully trust them for a year to 18 mos, as far as NEVER having an accident, that’s of course the rare accident, but I found that to be true up until a year! Good luck with your new puppy!! ♥️

Hello! I just got lucky to find him; Sawyer’s littermates all looked somewhat similar to him, none were super curly coated, they were “shaggy”, and medium curly…he was the only one who looked full Cav, it’s just the luck of the draw to find a smooth coat Cavapoo! Maybe search “smooth coat” or “flat coat” Cavapoo to see how they vary, and how you might find a breeder who can help you! ♥️🐾

I do think there is truth in that! But for the first week I did use them, to save my floors and also because it was the middle of winter and snowy! For a short time they can be very helpful, sometimes it’s just impossible to have eyes on them 24/7!

We used puppy mats and reduced the mats we put down and he still goes on the mats, took him out to see how he reacted with the NEW YEAR fireworks, was fine but came in doors and peed on a matt which is good still a bit of work to do LOL

They are capable to hold it, but if given free range small puppies will pee wherever..but when he was in his car seat for example, he wouldn’t. If I took him to a store he was in his bag and so wouldn’t either. But they can and will hold it for longer periods when they are certain places. This phase is also pretty short, lasting only about a couple weeks, and really at a time that you probably wouldn’t want them exposed to too many other dogs/places anyway!

I looks like he's outside for lengthy periods of time, although the temperature is very low.... I have a new cavapoo puppy (13 weeks old) and the temp outside 'feels like' 7 f degrees. I am not sure how long I can keep him out. Usually goes out for under 2 min to pee and I keep him inside for poop, just to not risk his health at such a young age. Not sure what the guidelines are with puppies and severe cold. Any tips would be super.

A 13 wk Cavapoo is prob about 7ish lbs and is not that delicate, he can certainly handle potty trips outside with you! If you see him shivering, of course bring him in but I never had that experience with Sawyer even at 4.9 lbs when I got him. I have decades of experience with chis…now that requires caution! Yesterday it was 9 degrees f here in NY! Sawyer was rolling on the snow and didn’t want to come in… yours will prob love the cold as he gets older! Bottom line, your little guys health is not at risk, and a little fresh air and grass beneath his paws will do him good (in your own backyard!) ♥️ p.s. word from experience: let him poop outside too as soon as possible, it can be confusing for them and harder to potty train in the long run! Good luck! 🐾

I think you can, puppyhood will probably be a little challenging, but as the dog gets older, much less so! Get the lowest energy pup of the litter! (Since Sawyer is poodle mixed, he’s medium energy)…hmm, Sawyer and all my dogs are in and out all day long lol because I’m almost always home with them..but I’d say after about 8 months, they only need to be let out to bathroom every 4-5 hrs, some can go a little longer than that! Hopefully someone will be home somewhat often though, as CKC and their mixes can have some separation anxiety are a breed that need their people! Best of luck to you! 😊♥️

Hello! I got Sawyer at 11 weeks old...for me, I was honestly glad he was just a little older, as puppies are only let go by most breeders at 8 weeks because that’s the earliest legal age they can let them go. It was also winter when I got him, we had a lot of snow and potty training was difficult bc of that, so those extra few weeks would have been hard. I think there can be pluses and minuses to waiting vs not..for example, mother dogs and the pack are, after all, the best teachers for a puppy there are! Then again, the best temperament dog I’ve ever had was my golden that was weaned by mom at 5 weeks and I took her home and she was amazing and well adjusted from day 1. My advice I think would be: he’s ready now, and if you feel your home is ready right now, go for it! If you want a bit older, prob easier to potty train pup, wait. Either way will work out fine! Let us know what you decide! ♥️

Because Cavapoos are a mixed breed, it is harder to find a reputable breeder (can’t use AKC resources, etc); but you could start by googling for your state, then checking reviews, seeing if you can contact past puppy adopters of theirs, and possibly visiting. Sometimes there are breed specific meetups in your area also. Good luck in your search! 🐾😊

You can do it yourself, just be careful obviously! I have done this when needed for male dogs I’ve owned. Make sure you use sharp scissors that cut cleanly the first time. You can even go to a beauty supply and get haircut scissors for about 20. And then you’ll have them to cut out mats, too! 🐾

Mongrel: noun: a dog of no definable type or breed. Not sure what your point is in this comment? If it’s to appear intelligent by proclaiming he’s mixed with 2 different breeds; and not a “purebred”, you’re not winning any awards for that; anyone with a modicum of intelligence or knowledge of dogs already knew that. 😂 The vast majority of dogs in this world are “mongrels” btw. But the relevance is…? Maybe you can elaborate.

Thank you, but he is fine and healthy, and now goes MUCH less at 4 mos old!

@@sawyerswonderfullife7049 Great! Usually if the are two month the should able to hold on every hour and hald mybe two hours. But first thing in morning potty, after every meal or water potty, playing hard potty. For me best advice I had for stoping potty in his area is to put him in crate small enough he can turn around and every two hours let him out to potty.

@@stzagreb1011 This little guy just wasn’t going to be able to wait an hour or two, I know many can though! I’ve house trained 4 chihuahuas over the years, now there’s a REAL challenge!! The smaller the harder, and more frequent trips...especially in the beginning! 😂🐾

@@BeYou4You He had been dewormed several times by the breeder, as any (good) breeder will! Also vet checked by my vet, all good! This is just what it is with small breed puppies that aren’t confined too much and can go whenever they ask to! It can be intense! 😀

I think crates are so negative. It's just another word for "cage" or keeping an animal behind bars. I have the idea that people who have crates at home, for dogs, don't want to have the house with dog hair or one or other poop on the floor. Well, then just don't have the dog.

The good thing is that dogs don’t think the way you do! Dogs, by nature, are den animals, that feel secure in their own small space and in nature would seek that out! The dog doesn’t care what you call that. Allowing a dog to poop on the floor just isn’t going to work in most households..we’ve domesticated them, and need to train them to live among us. To think that a dog that spends some time/sleeps in a crate, doesn’t leave fur all over the house…I think could only be said by someone who’s NEVER had a dog!
