NEW QUATTRO S1 Pikes Peak by ProSpeed || 830Hp/985Kg INSANE SOUND

This is the much awaited lastest evolution of the ProSpeed Sport Quattro S1, the bulgarian team of Nikolay Zlatkov, that spent the last years preparing this true Monster. Leaving behind the Quattro S1 aesthetics and dimensions and embracing the much more aggressive Pikes Peak-spec in ultra lowered, ultra wide fashion, here we have the Inline 5 engine taken to new heights at 830Hp extracted from the 2.2L R5 20vT powerplant, but most impressive is the chassis and bodywork, where weight was reduced to a barely believable 985Kg. This last season marked just the beginning of its development, with the first events being taken more as tests, but even then, some true speed and potential was already in display. And of course the soundtrack was about as immense as one could expect. This is one of the Ultimate Monsters in the Sport and one we´ll be expecting great things for this Season.

What to me is remarkable is the no-nonsense attitude of the car at speed. No bouncing and jiggling around, just solid and stable. Phenomenal grip and spot-on anti-roll setup. That's how to go really fast!

I had several of these in the 1990's, and they came in very useful when I was late for work. I would often be driving like this while eating a bacon sandwich and then shaving on my way to work. The frustration came in when I arrived at the level crossing at Pooley Green near Staines, and the red lights came on and the barrier came down. It was then very hard to complete the final two miles and dash into the office in time to be at my desk for 9am. This is almost a true story!

This is an absolute masterpiece of refinement; in power, weight, suspension, and chassis / body control. It's tempting to say it just isn't an S1 Quattro, but that would be criminally unfair. It's the pinnacle of S1 Quattro evolution, utilising every technological advancement that's become available since the 80s. This is demonic power, well controlled and driven, compared to the old S1's turbocharged trampoline-on-crystal meth approach.

I had similar thoughts. It's unusually well controlled. No bad behaviour over bumps/crests, no bounce, no significant squat/dive, no sudden oversteer, no energy wasted smoking tyres. In the onboard footage the driver looked pretty relaxed. Fantastic

Admittedly, I have more or less surface knowledge of the Audi straight 5 engines, limited to the wonderful soundtrack being an exhaust system away from their V10 counterparts, and they seem to have a really high threshold for tuning ability. I can definitely get behind a boxy wide body retro effort turned up to 11 on the Send It! rating scale. 👍 This last generation of Audi I-5s also seem quite capable and often overlooked compared to traditional tuning hallmarks (ala Chev LS or 2JZs), but I don't know the naming scheme between Audi's old and new engines either.

The R5 20vT (first one of the 20 Valve Audi 5 cylinder engines) like the one this car uses, is know for arguably being the best sounding of them all. The modern TFSi unit from the RS3/TT RS certainly can be explored further but loses a bit of soul we´d say...
