I love this vid!! Thank you! I just saw this set at my local Harbor Freight shop and was kind of impressed. I was there to pick up a new set of wrenches and almost pulled the trigger on this one. It's on sale but it was a bit more than I wanted or even planned for. I can't believe it's taken me so long to come around to Harbor Freight. I think I was biased against them because so many friends said "Oh they just sell crappy Chinese knock off tools that break when you first use them." Which actually may be true for some lines but Pittsburgh, Quinn and Icon are pretty dang good quality. And I've watched too many torture test vids that take the tools to failure. Then I had to realize that open ended wrenches failing at 200 ft/lbs of torque is probably WAY MORE than any load I'd put on them and required even the big guys to use cheater bars. Normal use, they'll be just fine. PLUS lifetime walk in warranty!! Good to know they're loose tools also, no box. I wasn't sure about that. So this vid helped because I've been upgrading all my tools and have plans for various sets. Anyway, thanks again.

I have a lot of harbor freight tools also, the quality is a lot better than previous tools , but then im 75 years old. When HF first started out they had u bendum stuff or the ill shatter brand, so did other tool importers. when i was a young man i bought armstrong tools as far as i know they are still made here. found mainly in machine shops, not hobby lobby or automotive.

These Harbor Freight tools all come with a lifetime warranty. No company is going to have a lifetime warranty if they feel their tools are brittle, that makes no sense as a business model. Common sense. You can't say the same for any of your so called American made brands. None of them offer lifetime warranties with no questions asked replacements.

I had and I lost on a job a pair of linesmen pliers from quinn I paid 10 bucks for them and they were just as good as 50 dollar kleins this set looks great I think this quinn stuff might be the best harbor freight tools for the money I've been to the store 5 times and always sold out of those linesmen pliers
@StanMisiano
@StanMisiano 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Since this video, I have gone out and purchased every single Quinn pliers that they make for my toolbox. As well as completely filling my toolbox with all brand new Harbor Freight tools. (If you watch the latest video on the channel I did a quick look at it at the beginning with everything laid out in Kaizen Foam.) But after years of my expensive "name brand" work tools either breaking or getting stolen from job sites (commercial carpentry), I replaced it all with Harbor Freight brands and never looked back. Plus everything at Harbor Freight is lifetime warranty, so getting a replacement if it ever did break is extremely quick and easy.

For under $2000 I set up my entire garage from harbor freight including this kit pretty much ever Hercules 20V and 12V tool and batteries and 44 inch cart. I had all kinds of mismatched stuff all missing something. What would $2000 have got me with matco or snap on. For the diy person tools that are good enough will serve you just fine. I’d rather have money for projects than spend it all on tool truck tools.

It definitely appears to be a well filled out kit. My one and only concern (which only time will tell the tale) is how long will Harbor Freight carry that particular brand so that the warranty can be fulfilled. That’s one advantage that Craftsman, SnapOn, Mac and S-K have over the kits from Harbor Freight. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a full believer in the Pittsburgh tool line and even have quite a few in my tool chest at work (I’m a dismantling technician for an auto recycler). So having tools that a manufacturer stands behind is pretty high on the list of importance when considering which tools to buy.
@StanMisiano
@StanMisiano 2 жыл бұрын
Quinn is one of their newer brands, Quinn came to be when they started doing the 3 tiers of tools. I'd be highly shocked if they ever got rid of it. And if they did, I'm sure you could warranty swap it out to the comparable tool. Their policies are pretty hassle free.
@chrishomrichjr3572

@@StanMisiano I do like their exchange warranty. I have a decent amount of the Pittsburgh brand and some Icon in my kit at work currently and had to recently take in a few of the icon tools for replacement (their torx sockets are pretty soft compared to other brands). I love my SnapOn tools, but having to wait a week or more for a replacement hurts sometimes. And Craftsman, well, let’s just say the “lifetime warranty “ isn’t exactly “lifetime “ when it comes to their older models of hand tools. I also love the S-K tools I have as well as they have served me well for over 20 years. But as of lately I’ve been finding that I need a more readily replaceable tool set as the use that my tools are subjected to daily is quite abusive during the 8+ hours of use 6 days a week. That’s what got me interested in this particular set. It’s still something that I may place the money out for, but still hesitant because of the short time on the market. Thank you for your reply. I hope this tool set lives up to and exceeds your expectations. I’m looking forward to seeing a 6month and a 1 year revisit review of how they have held up for you.
@StanMisiano
@StanMisiano 2 жыл бұрын
@Chris Homrich jr one of the reasons I did get this set, and I forgot to mention it in the video which I'm disappointed I forgot, but was the ease of warranty. I Thrace Husky set I was looking at is almost impossible to find in stock at a Home Depot I've noticed. And to warranty anything, they'd have to order it, which is less than ideal. Harbor Freight has had multiple of these in stock since they released, so an exchange won't be a problem like it would be for the Husky. I've actually never broken a hand tool from Harbor Freight before, both using them to work on my car or at work in the construction field, so I'm confident in these as well. The ratcheting aspect of them feels solid alone, so I don't expect to be unsatisfied. I will be sure to do a follow up video after a few months too. I'm also going to be starting the process of organizing the entire set into Kaizen foam within the next week or two, so it'll really show how many tools are actually in this set without much filler items mixed in.

@@StanMisiano I had a nut that just would not come off with a wrench, I grabbed a harbor freight 3/8 ratchet wrench with the right size socket and gave it hell, and it started moving. Though it actually broke the weld that held the threads that the nut was on the back of the turbo housing and pulled it all the way out, I was amazed that it didn’t break and still works. That was before I was an actual tech, did a turbo on my a4 haha.

I agree on not wanting the insane prices of Snap On, but I wouldn't call these "mediocre" tools. I have yet to actually break a hand tool from Harbor Freight.
