oh wow, ty. Jade Melon said on 6/23/21 Their voices are easy to tell apart because only 4 are vocalists, each with distinct voices: Jin, 32yo, the tall lanky one has a "lifted palette" sound and is great at hitting those piercing/belting notes. Jungkook, youngest member 27yo, has the quintessential pop sound (think Bieber) and has the most control over his voice which is why he usually does the runs and ad libs (though Jimin has a lot of awesome ad libs in this particular song). Jimin, 29yo, pretty, lead dancer, is known for his airy light delicate voice. He has some of the most beautiful range of tones IMO V, 29yo, has the gorgeous, round, soulful voice, and can go low and deep but also high and belting (really, all the singers in BTS have an amazing vocal range and can all go high) Once you get the singers out of the way, then you have the 3 rappers. These are easy, cuz there's less of them...and they have their own distinct style. This song doesn't really show the rappers' full capability, but you can still get a glimpse of those unique styles: Suga, 31yo, 2nd rapper, lead , usually has a slightly, how-do-I explain it....low-key savage/dangerous tone? and a little bit of a lisp. He plays with his voice sometimes using inflection on certain words. RM, 29yo, 1st rapper, main (official leader of BTS), has a very solid American rapper boom-bap style. Deep voice. Can sound smooth or aggressive. J-Hope, 29yo, 3rd rapper , lead, usually he's the "hype" rapper of the group songs and singles, but he is a talented rapper in his own right. He has the most distinctive voice IMO, very laid-back vibe, but can be savage and sarcastic sounding. Main dancer. Rise Squad is HOW they became BTS. Ida's video is WHO they are. xCeleste is WHY. Each one touches on the other but I believe this is the best explanations of those videos. Keep in mind that BTS debuted 11 years ago and that’s after 2-3 years of training for some of the members. Jungkook who is the main vocalist and the center of their lineup was only 15 years old when they debuted. He’s the baby of the group. Jin who is the oldest was 20 years old. So if you go back to the beginning you will really see how young they were. They wrote songs from their life experiences. Their first 3 albums were about school, being an adolescents, the expectations and pressures from parents, teachers and society. Older folks telling them they have to work harder because they’re not meeting the expectations and so on. It was very relatable for young people. All of their albums are concept based and all of them were growing up through the years making so much sacrifices to achieve their dreams and goals. They lost childhood friends, couldn’t see their families for months at a time, they weren’t able to do things that are normal and what we take for granted. It ‘s worse now in some ways because wherever they are there are mobs of paparazzi and fans. One of the things that we armies do is encourage each other to not be one of those fans who over step the boundaries. If you see them in public don’t react and make a fuss and ignore them as strangers so that they can feel more at ease in public. Btw, when RM talks about give up at 3 and give up at 5, he asking other guys do they quit their job at 3 pm? 5 pm? They just don't want to work hard - spend their time clubbing. Dope was the song that really broke BTS to audiences outside of Korea. You started seeing American and other nationality fans really begin to react to BTS

Their music is really good for the soul. They are where they are because whenever external forces purposefully put obstacles on their path, if at the time they weren’t yet powerful enough to push through they found a new and/or bolder way around it and kept going rather than giving up or giving in. They put in the time and effort to not only meet but EXCEED whatever was “required” while striving to remain true to themselves even if/when it ruffled feathers. A common underlying message in their lyrics is “dare to be your own person”. Not the easiest path when most societal influences around you pressure you to conform, but a worthy one.

I think giving up on 3 and 5 has something to do with marriage, college, buying a home, having a child-things like that that people used to always do but young people can’t do or are afraid to do because of money or economic opportunity.
