Hi Dami, good day! I've been watching some of your videos lately because i believe that the topics are very important, relatable and relevant- for that, GREAT JOB! I'd like to give some feedback though on this specific content/video as i believe after watching it- it seems like the discussion goes totally way out of the topic and most of all it did not really help all parties involved especially the students with their decision making about their future. The video didn't discuss or explain briefly about India's Advisory on Medical Education in the Philippines. There are questions like what is this advisory all about? What should i do as someone who is currently or is planning to pursue my medical studies abroad? Is this affecting PH only? What are my options and what are the steps to follow? First, this advisory is initiated by India's National Medical Commission (NMC) and it's aim is to come up with standard regulations for ALL Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate so it doesn't matter whether you studied in the US, UK, Australia as long as you did not pursue it in any indian academic institutions in India, this advisory still applies to that individual. Your guests stated/used a certain bill/law/act in India that this so called "restriction" has been approved and passed last 2022 but i'm checking any indian news sources including government portal- i dont see that claim but what I found out that both Indian Embassy & Philippines Officials are to collaborate to Facilitate Indian Medical Students' Licensure and Practice in the PH, the meeting was just held June 2023. That meeting signifies a significant milestone in enhancing bilateral cooperation in medical education and fostering cultural exchange between the two nations. I hope you would be able to clarify these things on your upcoming videos, after all we all want a good future to every students out there. I'm afraid that there might be a number of students who may instantly feel discourage. As there are considerably more to explain, I will just leave here the links where they can find updated news and updates! Thank you Dami and continue bringing this kind of healthy discussion in your channel. Dami, pemit me to correct your comment when you said "Philippine Medical Schools Teach Medicine applicable only to the Philippines". You're blatantly wrong because Philippine Education in general is based on American Standards and that's the reason why Philippine Medical Graduates especially Nurses are in the US, Canada, and in Europe and they all excel in their fields.

So true. Our Philippine educated doctors and nurses are licensed to practice in the US, Canada UK because our curricula are based on the American standard of education. Thus us the assumption that they pass the state licensure exams in the US where they plan to practice their profession.

Don't worry, all major courses in the Philippines including Medicine are VALID, accepted and credited in all countries around the world including the first world countries like USA, Canada, Australia, UK, EU countries (countries that primarily provide Medical Textbooks for learning in Medicine and other Allied Sciences, like Medical textbooks from the US taught and practiced in the Philippines), Singapore except India (not valid?)...bizarre right? 😬 I think when you graduate a major course in the Philippines like Medicine, you only need to do a 1 year program in Canada and take board exam for medicine there to work there, and I think this apply to all the major Western countries, you can ask your medical professors there in your school, they will guide you and will even help you even after you graduate in Medicine, that you can go to Canada or US and work there as a doctor, prove to the Indian MOH what you and the Philippines can do (Philippine medical graduate practitioners are trusted by Western and Arab countries). By the way, the Philippines Exam format is the same format that is used in the Western countries, even in Arab countries which also uses the American standard format so no pressure, especially in medical course, so you have to master the Philippine exam format also. After graduating, try to enroll and attend the best Medicine review center in the Philippines for future use. Doctors in your school knows 👍💖💐🎉 The law must apply to those who are currently graduating in high school and will be taking a college degree and not to those who are already studying college degree in other countries.

Lets be real, this is not about the quality of education of medicine here in the Philippines. India is not saying that medicine graduates from here is not on par with their standards. India is doing this to discourage people on going to other countries to study medicine. They want to increase their own medicine students. Well we can't blame India for doing so bcoz they want to grow and improve their own medicine education but they should not implement it to those who are already in study abroad before they made this law.

In the Philippines, before you are admitted to the college of medicine of a university, you need 4 years of pre-med (BS Biology, BS nursing, BS med tech etc) Only then can you apply to be admitted to the college of medicine. After graduating from the college of medicine in the Philippines, you have to be an intern in an accredited hospital. Then you review for the medical licensure. Altogether it takes about 9 years of study total before you can take the medical board. In India they have a shortcut of 1 or 2 years. No pre-medicine of 4 years unlike the Philippines.

Guys, its not about the quality of Med Schools in Philippines but rather about the quality of Indian students. Some Indian students who come to Philippines ( Not all but most of them) are the ones who could not make it to any decent med school in India. So Indian government has genuine reasons to worry. If you speak with any med student in India from a good institute you will instantly understand the difference in quality in just the way they speak, their knowledge levels as compared most of the Indian students who come to Philippines. India is among the top 10 destinations in the world for medical tourism. So you can imagine the standards of medical education! The Indian students who come to Philippines get easy admission as they get it under foreign student quota of seats via some powerful agents. For example if you go through the video, they joke that they came to study medicine to 'to visit the islands and beaches, how cheap is that reply! They were even ready to go to Uganda to study as they said in the interview. So that means, they just want the doctor's tag at any cost without the quality.

In 2021, DMSF registered a pass percentage of 75%. In 2022, again registered the highest pass percentage of 78%. Tropical diseases are endemic to most Asian countries. In the US and other Western countries, most tropical diseases like cholera and malaria has been totally eradicated for decades. When the brother of my friend got very sick in Canada, they couldn't identify the cause. They have to fly him back to Manila to find out it was Cholera. This only shows that medical studies and practice here in Philippines would give you the complete array of diseases to learn and study. I would say graduates of medical courses here are exposed and well equipped, thus arguably more advantaged than other med schools counterpart in other parts of the world. And you don't have to study new languages. Just English.

Medicine is science. And science is universal. It has no boundaries. All latest discoveries are published for all the world to see and digest. And they're written in English, which is the lingua franca of the world. And that's one of the main advantages of the Philippines. All of the textbooks in their schools are in English. Unlike other countries which have to translate them in their native language from English to Chinese, for example, or English to Japanese. So QUALITY should be a non-issue. Most countries would require you to take tests or examinations before letting you get a license, anyways. The Indian government, or any other, needs to prove students coming from the Phil are not fit to serve in the medical community.

Some filipinos are saying that Why did Indian Govt bring such laws. i will tell you why as i was an aspirant of SSC which is a govt. competitive exam for getting job in govt. administration . Now the thing is that the education curriculum is different for each country so It means you can study abroad but when you want to practice in India you must give a exam which is based on Indian curriculum and courses so that govt. can give you license to treat indian patients. And also phillipines have concept of premed +4 years while here it is 2years (grade school)+ 6years of med college . It is not like that govt. is not taking care about students living abroad. they just want to ensure that students studying abroad have studied well or not. And we are not judging any country's education system as this rule applies to all countries even US. Also govt. based medical collges like AIIMS provide high level of education and it is affordable as govt. pays most of the expenses .You will see doctors in US or UK of indian descent but nurses of filipino descent becuase indian curriculum is hard and Comprtition is very high for MBBS courses in India and i am sure phillipines curriculum is aslo hard but because of large number of students applying for medicine in India as it is not possible for all of them to study in govt. based colleges so that's why they go to different countries to pursue medicine degrees. If you ask them that if they have enough resources to get education in govt med college or private med college in India so will they choose phillipines they will definitely say No because they know if they study under indian curriculum they will easily get hired by British or US companies and they can practice freely in India. It's not like i am boasting about indians as doctors because in our culture becoming a doctor or army personnel is a highly reputated thing. Also if you ask a average American or British person about doctors in their country, 80% of them will say indian doctor names.

Every country would say their education is in better quality than others, but even if you study abroad with different languages, human anatomy does not vary, our number of bones are all the same, the tissues are still the same. i would rather say, India would like to make homegrown students, why only now when four decades ago there were many foriegners studying here in the Philippines. Anyway, its their law now, its their choice to withdraw their people from the Philippines....just saying....no offense meant.

Well education has no bounds even in terms of medicine. There is no such thing a medicine in the context philippine culture or indian culture or chinese culture. For example if one patient is dick with flu, usually you follow the standard operating procedure: first give the basics of medical needs, then you seek medical help and the rest escalate based on the gravity! I don’t think Indian culture respond to such sickness differently! Maybe modified or simplified way but the standard is always present! Language could be an issue!

You know guys, since your government implement already that law, you can't do nothing about that. But first finish your study in Philippines. Coz still applicable in other different country, and still you can practice it except your own country. Then Work abroad, more or less 2yrs. Then, if you want to became a licensed medicines in your country, then go back and take medical exam. That's all. I understand why your government did that. You know why? If they let you study abroad no one or few people left to study medicine to your own country. The Indian medical cultures/practice was died.

there are no vacant seats in Indian Medicine Schools. All packed. It is not about the quality of education in either Philippines or India, both are quite good. Infact India is among the Top 10 destinations for medical tourism due to its quality of treatment. Just check youtube. It is rather about the quality of students. Philippines has made admission extremely easy for foreign students for more enrolment, so quality of foreign med student is a concern, not the institute.

He meant the quality of the graduates, as not all of them are serious about their studies. In India, only 10% of students secure a seat in the top medical colleges for MBBS due to intense competition. Consequently, many students either opt to study abroad or manage to study in mediocre colleges in India. However, the quality of education remains consistent in both countries and is up to world standards.

Not inferior but some Indian students who come to Philippines ( Not all of them) are the ones who could not make it to any med school in India. So Indian government has genuine reasons to worry. If you speak with any med student in India from a good institute you will instantly understand the difference in quality in just the way they speak, their knowledge levels as compared most of the Indian students who come to Philippines. The Indian students get easy admission as they get it under foreign student quota of seats via some powerful agents. For example these students in the video, were even ready to go to Uganda as they said in the interview. So that means, they just want the doctor's tag at any cost without the quality.
