You can get MAX versions of all of the tanks Red Sea make so this system applies to any size tank.

For some one who's been out of the hobby for a very long time these look like a cracking package just for the ease of getting started. But I think I'd just go with tank and light (most expnsive bits) and sort a better pump skimmer myself.

Red sea should make a quality heater, A PH Probe, then they would have the ultimate Max package.

If you go down the beginner tank route again, can I make a suggestion, to get a beginner to liaise with you on what they struggle with, for example, I found Aaron’s aquarium fluval episode intriguing enough to go out and buy it. Then I searched for something he said and found your fluval build. Both excellent and informative. However, I think you both missed a few things that you perhaps forgot beginners struggle with, such as test kits, and how to play “guess the colour”, should I buy hanna, which ones? Do I need the high or low readers?, if I stay stock lights, should I have them on or off and for how long or if I upgrade, what percentage do I need with softies/LPS etc, as well as a few others, and my biggest per hate, you need more flow, or do not have enough flow. If you are a beginner that means absolutely nothing, how do you even know what flow rate you have if you have no wafty corals? Please don’t think I am being ungrateful, I absolutely love your videos and wouldn’t even have a jumping off point without them, but I’m still struggling to find specific answers. I’m guessing the videos would just take too long to put together, but thank you for what is there and for reading this far 🙈

I will say I had a 34 gallon Red Sea tank back 10 plus years ago before all the Bluetooth wifi stuff. I loved that tank all I wish it had was a easy way to do a sump on it. I would like a all in one. But I think my wife wouldn’t want me to spend all that money at once. Yeah I know 🤫 I spend a good amount on my 75 gallon set up but that was bit by bit so easier to hide what I’m spending 😂

I had fish keeping tanks in the '90s.I decided i want to develop a reef tank with my grandson.The advancements are overwhelming. I like the complete built that RS has to offer. A local store gave me a quote for a complete system that includes the extras like; live sand &rock, reef wave,heater,test kits, water, etc. This build would come in at $1800.00 US

My first thought today was “why have they released this when they haven’t got a heater to go with it”. Im guessing it’s their next equipment release but they should have waited on the max release.

We recently bought the MAX version of the 425 G2+ during the Labor Day sales here in the US. On top of the savings that MAX already provided, we were able to also get 12% off the entire sale as well! We're new the saltwater hobby and really like the all-in-one controlled by ReefBeat functionality. Very excited to finish our cycle soon!!!

Once again Alex, thanks. It's been asked before on this thread. I would be interested in your opinion on the light/s, the skimmer and the reef mat vs popular alternatives, like AI Prime lights et. al. Maybe you already have? Thanks as always,.
@ReefDorkXtra
@ReefDorkXtra Жыл бұрын
The lights are totally fine and produce really good shimmer, but I personally didn't like the way they made my tank look and the app for the lights was a bit fiddly and unintuitive. Kessil is my personal favourite but the Radion gen 6 looks very impressive (never had one albeit I have just got one this week). I had an AI Prime on my Fluval Evo - really good light and no real complaints considering the price. The ReefMat is the best filter roller on the market in my opinion, but it is very big so if you don't have the space (or if you'd rather not have such a big filter roller) then the Reef Factory Smart Roller S is worth a look and a little more sophisticated than the equally small Clarisea. My personal favourite skimmers are the Deltec 400i, 600i etc range so they would be my first choice. Or the Nyos Quantum skimmer gets a lot of love and has a proven track record (albeit they can get a little noisy over time).

I'm not so sure about it. It should come with a heater so there's an extra. But someone who considers this is better off going into their LFS and having them help - I think this says "you don't need an LFS - you can just buy this online". And then the big thing is that an 8% discount is not enough - it's not a WOW. So I expect those that go for this won't know any better and will simply have issues (unless they buy it at their LFS). Smart LFS's will say "this is the Red Sea Bundle and this is what we would do, which is the same price with the heaters, rock, sand, bacteria and salt.

was looking at maybe getting the 700 but correct me if I'm wrong but looking at the sump layout from there website it doesn't seem to have ATO reservoir, so then I would have to use the space left in the cabinet to put a container for top off water, if I'm right it seems a bit odd giving a free ATO device with no container !

I just purchased a 250 max g2+ and it came with a ATO reservoir but I would say it is smaller than what I would want it to be(roughly % gallon reservoir). I also have the option to place it on top of the Sump.
@ReefDorkXtra
@ReefDorkXtra 5 ай бұрын
I spoke to them about the reservoir a while ago - they said many of their customers (myself included) remove the reservoir and make their own one to fit their space. I prefer it that way, but Waterbox is probably better if you don't

I bought a Reefer 170 when they 1st came out and im pretty sure it was £650 might have been an early bird offer. I think they are now like £1100 which is just crazy. I like what they have done here but their app scares me as loads of people have slated it in the past, maybe they have ironed out the kinks now. There is somthing to be said to have all of your kit living under one simple app thats easy to use and just works. Ive had an apex and that doesnt count 😂 simple it wasnt

Ironically I love all of the red sea products except for the tank itself, don't like how you can't get a glass lid or a canopy. Also Alex, what lighting do you use on your red sea display, and do you think a single reef wave gyre is substantial for a 120 gallon (4 ft) lps dominant reef?
@ReefDorkXtra
@ReefDorkXtra Жыл бұрын
I use Reef Factory Reef Flare Blue Ms on my main tank, with 2x Reefbrite actinic strips. Far better to have 2 gyres on that tank - one at either end. As much as anything, it'll be much better at stopping detritus from settling on your sandbed.

This often comes up when it comes to Red Sea tanks, but I think it's an exaggerated issue and I'd bet their failure rate will be very similar to Waterbox, Cade, D-D etc etc.
