Just drove past D’Arbornne twice this past weekend. We have to tag everything here too. Our crappie limit was 50 when I was younger but is 30 now. Catfish depends on method and if you have a commercial license or not. Probably took Danielle all night to clean those 😆

Do you like the wire concrete nets or the big hoop nets? Looking to get the most pounds per set.
@godscountryhuntingfishing16388 ай бұрын
100% depends on situation I like both for different times and water conditions. We're definitely not the best out there doing this, but we also don't do without fish 12 months out of the year. In an upcoming video, I'll actually be explaining all 12 months, what we do and how we fish with what type nets. It should help with that question

Do you ever have gear stolen or people mess with them ?
@godscountryhuntingfishing16385 ай бұрын
Me, not so much because of the way I set it out, but if it's exposed above the water line, your probably getting robbed unfortunately. It's unreal how many fishing gear thieves exist. Unreal

Can you use for bait last times catfish head chopped up or trash fish like shad and so on. I shrimp and get all kind of trash fish I could be using in catfish boxes?
@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
I'm just not sure on that. I know some of the guys in your area use pogeys some times of the year in hoop nets, but I'm not sure the details. Maybe some of those guys will comment on here. If not try asking on the Cajun land hoop netters Facebook group

What license do you need for Wire Net traps and Hoop Nets? I have 2 wire traps so far. But have never ran them
@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
You can run up to 5 of each on Louisiana recreational license. They did away with the gear license, so all you have to have is recreational now. However, read the regulations for yourself also, lol

Definitely appreciate the information. Figured I would hit Dorcheat Bayou or Lake Claiborne and see what I can do
@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
@@robbietucker7325 Claiborne may be better right now with wire nets. Fish are starting out of the channel, so maybe try the edge or deep slough's right now

@@robbietucker7325 Bodcau should have a lot that washed through from Lake Erling - that lake was loaded with High Back or High Fin Blues.

What kind of bait is that you are using - bought or home-made? Might work to put some in a sock to bait up an area for rod and reel fishing.
@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
It's compressed cheese/soy bean blocks. I'd bet it would work, but might be better in a chum bucket with holes drilled in it in my opinion.
@zingerdoutdoors2311 Жыл бұрын
Where are you getting your block? And what kind is it?
@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
Compressed cheese/soy bean blocks. It's called power bait. You can get it from Net supply companies in like nets and more or maybe Memphis net and twine. We also get it at local bait stores in North Louisiana. Hope this helps!!!

I work the saltwater but live on the Apalachicola River in Florida. I've some catfish wire traps I used when I lived on a lake, but this is the only river wire traps aren't allowed in the state. Even though I'd been asked to furnish cats for a couple eateries, have all the licenses for salt and fresh water, I've only used for personal eating. I'm not into slats, haven't the time to make like I did the wire way back when, but yt just offered your slat traps test run vid on the side panel that I'll check out.
@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
Slat traps will work if legal, but best to use Cheese trimmings. I didn't have any at the time of that video. So are hoop nets or slat traps allowed? Thanks for watching!!
@Ray56z Жыл бұрын
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 No wire or hoop, just slat. I've been aiming to catch an FWC Officer and inquire about why but haven't yet. They allow all three in most other rivers and lakes, a lot of lakes have time spans they can be in the water-some just overnite.
@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
@@Ray56z States should recognize that big square wire is just a means of holding a net open. The wire itself don't catch. These type Wire Nets with flat throats mostly catch channel cats. They will push through a closed off throat when other fish won't.
@Ray56z Жыл бұрын
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 They just changed our throats on blue crab traps. A solid 2 inch tall throat instead of the flexible opening they'd push in then not find the way back out. Gotta keep the sea turtles out that may push in. I've never seen one, never heard of one doing that. Just like I don't understand this 1 river being off limits for wire/metal traps of either type. I live at Gaskin Park Boat Ramp Florida. I have the 1st property on what is called the Chipola cutoff-a branch that flows a mile to the Chipola River that flows 7-8 miles then joins/ends in the Apalachicola River. Thought about playing dumb about it being the Chipola cutoff-Chipola river, Chipola can have wire traps. I don't go in the Chipola, old-timers still hit Cyprus stumps there. I've 2 backyard stake lines out, 6-8 channels, blues a week, guess they'll have to do.
@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Жыл бұрын
@@Ray56z Best to stay legal whatever you do. I feel your pain on the regulation changes that make no sense. I grew up in Mobile. Worked on Shrimp boats in the Day they invented the TED. All over sea turtles which I'd never seen caught in a net. I'd literally heard of one being caught. Ted's cost Shrimpers Thousands in loss of catch in the early days, I'm sure they still cause loss today. However, maybe we saved some turtles. I'm all About conservation, but when commissions full of members that don't know the reality of things get involved, we usually get some new stupid stuff shoved down on us.
