The longer I spend away from The Sky on Fire, the more disappointed I become lol. There really was so much missed potential!! Anyway, you have totally sold me on Swimming in the Dark, will read that asap. And I also really need to get some more GGK in, Lions sounds like it will be right up my alley 🔥

Yesssss Path of Daggers is a great book, those slog people have no clue what they’re talking about with this one. They might be on to something with Crossroads of Twiight though 😅

Very excited for Private Rites, especially after Our Wives was so great. Sky on Fire sounds rough and with all the reviews from folk I trust, I think Im sadly removing it from the tbr.

I just finished reading Lions of Al-Rassan the other day and thought it was fantastic as well. You asked for recommendations at the start of the video, so here you go! Fevre Dream by GRRM Boy's Life by Robert McCammon Perdido Street Station by China Mieville The Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez Lord of the Silver Bow by David Gemmell

I have both Perdido Street Station and The Vanished Birds! Really want to read them both! I think I would hit The Spear Cuts Through Water first because so many people have told me I'll love it, but really want to read Jimenez

@OverlyAverageBen Don't sleep on Fevre Dream by GRRM! I know you're a big ASoIAF fan, but damn Martin low-key wrote the most badass vampire novel. Its such a good book, would be a perfect spooky season read if that's something you do! :)

Sad about the Jenn Lyons book. I will say I have seen authors get me invested in characters with minimal page time. T Kingfisher is a big example of that but generally I think 500 is a sweet spot for me and fantasy

Yeah, I purely think it's how much was trying to be squeezed into the page count. I've definitely loved and been invested in much shorter fantasy books
