Not a Renault fan but I absolutely love the Twingo, always have. However, sorry CarBuyer but I like to see reviewers talking about the car, not the opinions of the public; their opinions are irrelevant to me.

The styling is much improved on this new model. Although I won't buy a car in this segment, I'd say the new Twingo is the most funky in class on the market today.

The Renault Twingo is 100% produced in Slovenia and not in France. It's also mostly designed in Slovenia. Many parts are also made in Slovenia. The Slovenian Renault factory has received awards as the best Renault factory there is several times, mostly because of the quality of production. Very very few cars that come from Slovenia ever break down. I think the new Twingo still is not as special as the first Twingo was so I do not see it be very successful. But there are many many more competitors in this segment today.

No need to criticize the space in the back. There are already PLENTY of front wheel drive cars with decent room in the back so go ahead to choose from them. This one unique little car was brave enough to have Rear Wheel Drive!!

Have test driven the 70hp sce version apart from the light steering this is a fun little car. Am getting the 90hp tce dynamique in flame red with the full length sunroof with red touch packs inside & out. Under the front bonnet is the battery, fluid top ups & a crash box, no storage there. Tiny outside spacious inside

After previously criticising all the various idiosyncrasies of the Twingo, I took a test drive in a 70 HP base model and could not believe how good it was to drive with great all round visibility. There is no indication that it has a rear engine and the bonnet opening mechanism seems to have been slightly modified so that it now just slides forward and back rather than totally detaches. The styling is more attractive in real life than it is in pictures. The current £99 three year Easylife servicing deal in the UK offsets the normally expensive maintenance costs and I have been impressed enough to order a new GT 110 which I collect next week to replace my Clio 0.9 TCe with GT line bodykit.

Actually the front end is much shorter than it would be if the engine were in front (so the interior space is maximized), and it is a safer car this way because the engine and gearbox (they don't crumple) aren't pushed into the passenger in a crash.

When presenting the new Twingo one should ALWAYS go straight to the fact that it's a RWD car.

The interior is a vast improvement compared to the previous model's. In my opinion, it looks more like a Clio.

How exactly does having the engine at the back increase cabin space? I hope it doesn't handle like a Hillman Imp. Is there a boot at the front as well?

I GOT one 1 month ago. Actually I have the non turbo one, generally I think the car is solid and driving is really good. Great steering, and very good driving position. Mileage is pretty good too. Now I'd rather go for the turbo version though.

I wish Renault would come back to the US market just for such a car. Not since the Type 1 Beetle have we had a small rear-engine car that offers a modicum of practicality with personalization options for anyone. I would love to see how much fun it is to drive. I will add this to the large list of cars we can't have over here, that look like fun. 😂

It remindes me on Polish bulid Fiat 126p Bis . It had 850 cc wather cooled rear engine under rear boot , it was 3 door hatchback and it had spare wheel and some more space under the bonet .

Rear engine and rear while drive? That is like going back to the 60s... I think exterior styling is allright, but I do must say it feels like a Fiat 500 imitation to me. In the interior they went over it with all the red things. I do like some sporty styling, but this is overkill.

Carbuyer when you test the headroom in the back, do you ever consider that tall people are quite different? Some people have long legs, while other have a long torso (i'm the latter). So even though I'm 180 cm or 5.9 foot I rarely fit in any car on the back seat. A 6.5 foot Volvo dealer once promised me that I could get his V80 for free if I could prove that I couldn't fit. He quickly re-phrased this opportunity when I banged my head against the roof :P

for all idiots there is a space for turning the front wheels under the front hood wheels can turn 45 degrees so car can turn around in 7,5 meters space thats unbeatable

Pretty cool car: it looks quite funky, and whilst it’s odd to stick the engine in the rear, it’s pretty cool how a little cute city car has rear wheel drive. Even the replacement BMW 1 series is going front like everything else these days. Hope they do a review, and hope it’s good to.

yes because the car will have enough power for that, probably the biggest engine for normal cars will be the 0.9 tce whit 90bhp...

my front wheel drive Ford Fiesta has immense lift off oversteer! I don't think its an issue derived from a particular drivetrain layout but rather the somewhat "square" dimensions if you compare wheel track width with wheelbase. I've found cars with a more "retangular" set up (considerably longer wheelbase compared to track width) don't suffer from lift off oversteer as much

Just found out there is no storage under the hood? That is strange but I really want to see how this car does in frontal crash test since the fiat rates so poorly. Something tells me since there is no storage because Renault wanted to make sure it can get 5 stars and if it does then I will say this car is very good.

For a small compact it seams to do the job rather well, but let´s see how it drives - Not expecting big figures or impressions, but it should be nifty/fresh with that styling. Any space in the front ? or is it all the batteries cooling etc ?.

I own a 2010 Twingo RS Cup since february... it is a very good little racer but i think there will be no RS version of this 2014 Twingo... but if they bring one with enought power an a rearengine layout it will be fun =) I dont know how Renault makes all new cars only with 5 doors... it is extra weight and didnt looks good.

a bit over the top if you ask me. RWD is probably the only fact about this car that would make me buy one. Then again, offer me a fiat 500 (FWD) or this and I'll pick the fiat any time as it just has that little style and elegance edge. + the 500 is the most fun to drive city car i've driven in forever

I would guess they used the extra space in the front for moving the front seats forward and create more legroom in the back. And also, without an engine in the front i guess the turning circle would be dramatically improved.

I my view this is currently THE micro to get. Rear wheel drive, nice design and good value. I'll wait for the electric version though. The instantly available torque from an electric motor on the rear wheels should be lots of fun. For the same reason I was very disappointed to learn that Renault decided to postpone the electric version a few months ago. Renault please understand that we want THIS electric commuter and not a dull front wheel drive Zoe. And while I'm at it please make it an option to BUY the battery. A lot of people don't like your mandatory renting scheme.
