If James is not held accountable and continues to be aggressive physically and verbally, his girlfriend is going to be hurt worse next time. These behaviors don't just go away or get better without a really serious therapeutic intervention. He needs to be in therapy and his girlfriend needs to get away from him. She's not safe being there with him after he hurt her. Denial is real for the person being abused. They believe that the abuser is remorseful and that they are OK, until it happens again. It's a terrible cycle.

Since James’ public altercations with Kristen years ago, it was clear that James doesn’t have a calm down switch and loses control. He’s slapped around Kristen, Rachel and now Ally. There is nothing to salvage that relationship, trust is gone and I’m pretty sure James will strike again. Move on Ally, you are worth so much more. Find a partner who can love you as you do him, not someone you have to watch what you say etc. Adam, your ability to read a situation and act accordingly comes from experience and knowledge. Considering this it would be expected for him to be very supportive- up to a point. Upon exceeding that point he would become quite angry/violent/etc towards that person. It could stem from insecurity and lack of confidence. Another indicator is the reports he was excessively rude arrogant bossy and demeaning to his friend at Kathy’s party. This could show he was trying to gain control again of those around him (even though it wasn’t Ally although she probably was the target from her interview). Once he was bolstered up again, then confront Ally. She didn’t comply(to his satisfaction) which then escalated his behavior to physical. There is a lot to unpack here but you get the gist. I’m just guessing as facts aren’t completely revealed yet but it’s fairly predictable behavior. IMO.

We have to do something about domestic violence! The abuser has more rights than the victim. Please if u see or hear something say something! His shows should be cancelled. Ally please use your voice is know u are scared but u have to protect yourself! Please press changes. No one has the right to put hands on u. Sexual abuse (all abuse) leaves lasting affects! Get out and into counseling asap. It is NOT ok (even in a relationship or marriage) for someone to force u to have sex.
