In Legends the capital was based on Coruscant and only moved away from it twice: once during operation Shadow Hand and once during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, so only when Coruscant fell to an invading force. Also, the description mentiones that the New Republic was being founded close to the end of the Galactic Civil War. This fits the DisCanon, because the GCW there ended just 1 year later, whre in Legends the Empire didn't just disappear into thin air, because the plot demanded it and the war continued until 19 ABY

The New Republic was very delighted to know that the IGGE became the Universal Republic in the year 276 ABY or 2052. They however were mad that the Universal Republic failed to defeat the First Order since they came from the Unknown Regions just west of the New Republic. The Unknown Regions made the Universal Republican high Command super confused like how did they came from the Unknown Regions. Not only that but the fact that the Universal Republic rules over literally 50% of the Space Time Continuum. Both it's supply lines, and military is overstretched. Which they patched up with hypersonic transport all thanks to Kruschev. He actually made the hyperdrive for the IGN Yamato. Using tech that the rest of the world didn't had which is a 17M MPH or class .1 Hyperdrive

Some Star Wars fan really enjoy the lore, the politic and coherence within the story wich help makes the galaxy feel much more alive. Disney Star Wars just killed everything the old movies achieved concerning that. There is no sense of consequences in the new movies and it makes fans who unlike normal people are thinking a lot about the movies (wich is pretty much the very definition of a fan) very uncomfortable.
