Fun fact: the reason that the barrel length is four and a quarter, and not four inches even is because the Canadian government passed one of their silly restrictions years ago which prohibited the sale of revolvers with barrel lengths of four inches or less. That's when Ruger increased the barrel length of the GP 100 to four and a quarter, and Colt is following suit so they can sell product up there.

I’d be interested to see how good the blueing looks in person on the new Pythons. Many of the older guns had a marbling look where the gun would seem to change colors as the light hit it differently and the blueing was so deep and rich you would think you could fall in.

The colt pythons most definitely had trigger issue when they first brought them back. hickock45 wasn’t short stroking it. I had to send my python back to colt and they had to fix the cylinder timing and lock up. No big deal, fixed it, shoots like a laser, but wasn’t a hoax at all.

I just picked up the Taurus in 327, so far and about 200 rounds later it's becoming one of my favorites. It still hasn't made it into the EDC carry rotation but I'm thinking it's going that direction. Snub nose revovers are the only thing that I can comfortably appendix carry 14 hrs a day.

Do you know if today's Colt is still tapering the barrel bore like yesterday's Colt was doing? They tapered the bore (bore choking) by about .001" from forcing cone to muzzle to enhance accuracy. It worked, but it also made a 6-inch Colt have about the same velocity as a 4-inch S&W or Ruger.

There's more to the Lipsey's J frame than the sights. Tuned trigger, redesigned grips (that look like a better option to me) along with the new chambering, which is not 327 Federal Magnum. It's 32 H&R Magnum.

There are some differences with these new blued Colt Pythons though, from what I've seen (unlike in the picture shown): 3 vents in the top strap of the 4.25" barrel, and 4 vents in the top strap of the 6" barrel - plus they're seemingly not Royal Blue, but very dark (almost black)... Some people have already griped about these differences. But, we'll see.

That Diamondback SDR actually looks pretty clean!! And it actually has the nice recessed cut cylinder so the rims of the shell casing fit flush with the back of the cylinder!!!! That’s VERY nice to see!!

Stay away from Diamondback!!! I am a fan of them and I'm really hoping they can get their act together but they can't even get their existing product to run reliably. I had the DB380 and had to send it to the factory 4 times. It was replaced the second time and they issued a refund the 4th time. This was all in the last year too.

I know their little autos did not have much to talk about and they weren’t reliable in the least bit. However I’m always willing to give companies more than once chance when they appear to be listening to their customers and actually improving upon their quality of products. And it appears they are indeed working on these things. Not saying they are the greatest thing on the market, but this J-Framed size high polish stainless DA/SA 357 mag that actually has a 6 round cylinder instead of 5, weighs a mere 21 ounces and has a quick release removable cylinder…. That all is very appealing. Time will tell if they are any good. I’m not gonna rush out and get one, but I’m gonna keep my eyes on them!

Somehow the Gen 3 was more reliable! I am rooting for them I just wish they could get their existing issues under control. In my opinion, aside from the reliability issues, the DB380 is what the Glock 42 should have been. I wanted to have the first review of the Gen 4 version on KZbin but I had to send it back before I could film it.

When I was an armed guard in St. Louis, Missouri, back in '93, we could only carry a. 38 special, 4" barrel and in a 6 shot. They seem to be Unicorns today. You can find a 357 magnum that'll take. 38, but that wasn't allowed. I got really comfortable and very accurate with them and wish there was a return to them as a standard in the product line of all manufacturers who are making revolvers today. This is just me venting.

Great video but the Lipsey's website has a video about the new S&W revolver and it will NOT shoot the .327 Federal Magnum. It will only shoot the shorter H&R Magnum, 32 S&W and 32 S&W Long. Why they didn't chamber it in .327 which would have accepted the other three seems to be a huge oversite.

Lucky Gunner mentioned cylinder pressure might be too high for the standard lightweight construction. I understand even the 340PD has issues with higher quality cylinder steel but putting 357 through it.

I've gotta point it out: this isn't the first time Taurus has offered a Single Action Army clone. Back in the early 2000s, Taurus made an SAA clone called the Gaucho. Much like this new offering, it was also offered strictly in .45 Colt and .357 Magnum if I'm not mistaken, but it was also offered in the 7 1/2" barrel length (in addition to the 5 1/2" and 4 3/4") and had more variety in regards to finish options: it was available in stainless, blued/color casehardened, or just blued. I have a polished stainless Gaucho in .357 Magnum with a 7 1/2" barrel. It's not a bad sixgun, sort of a hybrid of the traditional Colt SAA's lockwork/overall feel and Ruger's transfer bar system. Being a lifelong fan of "cowboy guns", I've owned and shot lots of SAA clones (and I'm fortunate enough to have shot actual Colt SAAs-including 1st Generations-as well, though sadly don't own one yet) and I've certainly seen worse than the Gaucho, but then I've seen (and own) better as well. Anyway, this new Deputy model looks like it's pretty much just a rebranding of the Gaucho line with less finish and barrel length options. I'll have to handle one in person and compare it to my Gaucho though before I can say too much. Maybe they've improved on it some.

All mine are SS Rugers. I've yet to see or find any better. Accurate as can be, and can not be overloaded. Built like bank vaults. Triggers are a bit rough but I got strong hands so no problem.

Correction on the Lipsey's J-frame. It's NOT in 327Federal Magnum, but 32 H&R Magnum only, from what I saw at Shot-Show and on Lipsey's website. Most S&W guys say it's because of the aluminum frame not being able to handle to 327FM pressure. I feel they should have said hell with the aluminum frame and made it steel for the 327Fed Mag. If your recoil sensitive then shoot the .32 H&R. The little weight difference will be negligible. Lipsey's effed that one up IMHO. Oh well I'll wait for my Unicorn steel K-frame 7-shot 327 Fed Mag snubby.

Hear hear! I used to reject certain guns because there was always some flaw (in my mind) that would make it sun optimal in a TEOTWAKI scenario. Only holds 5 rounds? Where am I going to get .45 Colt when the SHTF? Those fiddly bits on that Charter 9mm revolver are going to break off and I’m not going to be able to find replacements in the wasteland! I can’t carry .380, because the Miami-dade shootout in ‘86!! Yeah… I’ve since realized that those are not valid reasons to pass on interesting pieces. Don’t get me wrong… Certainly I have an AR and a 9mm for when the zombies get here, but I don’t feel bad about picking up a cool SAA or 5 shot .357 to have some fun with now and then too!

Since Taurus has show up a lot in this video I would like to make sure Yankee and my fellow viewers here know the following, important piece of information: Taurus/CBC/Rossi (all are the same company) has coluded with the non-legitimately-elected communist government of the convicted criminal Lula and his "worker's" party to DESTROY CIVILIAN'S GUNS RIGTHS here in Brazil to practically zero. Even sportive competitions where closed for an entire year. Taurus itself helped the PT (the communist party) to write the law, with pages and pages of advice on how to curb our rights, and even phrases of effect and jokes about civilians owning guns. What do they hope to gain with that, you ask? It's simple: they will continue to be a monopoly in a 200 million inhabitants country. The PT will not let other companies to settle, and will (already have) make importing almost impossible. Taurus will keep being the sole provider for all military forces and all branches of police in the country. Except in the case the police in question opens their processes to imported guns, which few will do. If I were going to get a new model Python I think I would stick with stainless. 4.25 or 4.5, whatever the barrel is seems to be a sweet spot for barrel length in pythons. It just looks good.

Apologies Mr. Marshall do not want to rain on the parade but thoughts on some observations. 1. The S&W is 32 H&R magnum, apparently NOT 327 federal. 2. Thoughts on SDR's removable Cylinder and Crane? 3. The Python is blued but not Royal blued, the hammer is blued on this new one but not the originals, and the demo copy of the 4.25 Blued Python has 3 vents on the rib unlike the photos from Guns and Ammo etc which show the correct 2 vents in the rib for the 4.25 Blued Python- this to me is a bit jarring but wondering what a revolver aficionado like you thinks? I love me a good wheel gun. Henry and now Taurus. I think its great. I own a Taylors and Company Runnin Iron 45 Colt 3.5in case hardened Revolver...Been thinking about another so more choices the better.

If the Lipsey's 442 didn't come with an action job then it's really just lipstick on a pig. There is nothing wrong with the stock sights given the revolver's purpose.

The Diamond revolver had a feature on it that is so obvious, you wonder why it isn't standard on all modern revolvers today. That is the push button cylinder/crane release. It makes cleaning easier or, for various security reasons, you wish to keep them separately.

Yes, I love that feature. I wish I had more time to talk about each individual gun in the video but I didn’t. I might do a separate video on just the SDR.

@@TheYankeeMarshal YES! And I’m sure you noticed as I know you are a fan of this feature just like I am…. The SDR appears to have the recessed cut on the back of the cylinder so the case rims will sit flush down in the cylinder!!! Just like the old S&W models!!
