I just ordered myself the Purple Edition RGB30! I like the look and overall design of that purple one. I had just previously purchased the Black Edition X55, I have it and it's totally awesome. Never thought I'd be purchasing 2 PowKiddies back to back but PowKiddy is releasing some pretty good handhelds at this point.

PowKiddy just took a page out of Analogue's book releasing their RGB30 in several vibrant colors. Good move by PowKiddy!

One thing I've noticed immediately upon examining the overall design of the B30. It follows the design of their Max 3 Pro as if being a more compact version of the Max 3 Pro. Both consoles are block shaped with the same inline triggers, have a pair of front facing speakers and they are both Linux only based. The Max 3 Pro was released first with PowKiddy fans not being as thrilled about it. The B30 shows up a few months later and it just ends up being the better handheld for PowKiddy fans. PowKiddy realizes the B30 is a big hit for them and they decide to release it in a variety of interesting color options. I think PowKiddy realizes that their B30 could very well be the answer to the Analogue Pocket along with possibly being an answer to ANBERNIC's 35XX. It could be an answer to the Miyoo Mini Plus as well!

Finally got my Purple Edition B30! It looks very nice although I'm slightly disappointed with the overall color. It's not a bright neon purple like what is advertised more of a duller shade of neon purple. Overall, I still like it!

@@SonicLoveEmulation There is definitely something wrong with the latest B30 JELOS download update. I flashed the latest JELOS image to a new Sandisk micro sd. When using my new sd card for OS slot 1, the games slot didn't read or write the folders to the games sd card. So no roms or content showed up from the 2nd slot. When I mounted in the original sd card for the OS that came with the handheld, everything worked. So what I ended up doing is cloning the original OS micro sd card to my new OS micro sd card using Mini Tool partition software.

This is made for vertical shmups and since it also got Sega Saturn (known as the no 1 shmup-console) it’s a must-buy. Demanding games plays with ease through HDMI!

I was waiting for the Trimui Brick, but decided to get this PowKiddy RGB30 instead. Got the PowKiddy X55 instead of the Trimui Smart Pro and instead of the ANBERNIC RG552.

@@SonicLoveEmulation Oh yes! I currently have about 17 in my retro handheld collection but I've been extremely picky about the ones I've purchased this year. The handheld has to really be something I like, has to look nice and it has to be intriguing to me. The last three I've purchased the Wood Grain ANBERNIC 405V, Black PowKiddy X55 and Purple PowKiddy RGB30 all have certain features that got my attention. In most cases I like both ANBERNIC and PowKiddy equally. They are both my top favorites along with Valve and it's Steam Deck.

@@SonicLoveEmulation i've got the BIOS files and roms. and Atomiswave now shows up on the rgb30 dashboard now and with the rom but i cannot run any of them. do i need to put the bios files into a specific folder? under emulator its show FLYCASTXXX ones. not sure what i'm missing?

Ok cool go to settings find per system advance configuration go in to it find atomiswave and niomi and change the emulator and then give it another try

Bought two of these for my kids for Christmas and they just sit there not doing anything, I think the new generation just aren't interested in retro games, this device plays all the older games very well, the PSP games look the best but the controls aren't the very awkward, you have to use R1 and L1 to move left and right and the analogues don't work, does anyone know how to fix this? Personally I like playing on it because I grew up with these games but the device is so fiddly to get right

I have collected mine over many years and the sd cad you will get will have thousands of games on the 2nd sd card slot ext2 and once the handheld is shutdown you take the sd card out pop it in the pc you will see a file saying roms, click on it and it will give you all the folders to every system and then a Google search for roms will point you in the right direction. And then take out the games you don’t like and add ones you do

I just got my RGB30 with 30,000 games, but my interface looks much different than yours. I don't have that same interface where you scroll by console. I also don't have SEGA CD games. What do you think I should do?

The interface will be a different theme I used when you just have the emulators to scroll through press start and you should see in the options ui or something like that it should be 2nd one down and then go in to the options and then you will see theme and you just pick one by moving it left or right or press on it and pick one. Then back out and it should change the theme. Let me know if you find it and change it. For Sega CD it means they did not add the roms for it, so you will have to google Sega CD roms and then put the sd card in to a pc and then it should have roms on it with folders add the roms to the folder Sega CD and then when you put the sd card back in the the handheld boot it up and then they should be there.

@@creativedave you don't need a pc. you could use a card reader that is compatible with your phone. I did that when downloading assets and roms for a wii I hacked for my kids a couple years ago. I think I got the adapter I used at walmart, it has usb a and c. Pretty sure it was under $15.

@@SonicLoveEmulation I won't have to send my B30 back after all. It appears my OS sd card failed. I purchased a new Sandisk micro sd card, flashed it with the latest JELOS and installed it. Got my B30 working again! Had to actually flash an early version of the firmware, 10232023. The latest 12142023 firmware is faulty and didn't write any folders to my roms sd card.

There was a screen brightness issue after a jelos update. Try shining a bright light on the screen and see if you can see the menu. Find the brightness setting and turn it up. Or use the button hotkey. I think it's function + volume up. There are videos online about it. It might not be bricked.

@@UofTguy Turns out the battery swelled up! I no longer use the B30. I recently got myself the B20SX instead and it's far better! Bigger and better quality battery as well.

I'll give you my first impression. Until I booted Ark Os on it.... ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! The volume buttons didn't even work! Slow, not at all tuned or optimised, and it was killing its own battery. Within an hour of unboxing I had Ark OS on,and Voila!!!! My RG30 sprung to life,and yes the volume buttons work now 😂
