This is fantastic! First one I watched! Meant to be I guess; I'm humbled by the mention. 🙏 Really nice surprise. I like the easy going nature of the video and the short voiceovers. Great technique for sharing more info while keeping up the space of travel and vista stops. Very nice.

Thanks so much, I’m getting better on my videos the more I do them. What I have discovered is that not only do I have a new found love for motorcycle camping, but a love for filming it as well. 😎 Thank you again for inspiring me to make a life changing decision with the purchase of my RE Himalayan! And thanks for subscribing to my humble channel 🍻😎

This video reminded me so much of the style of " On Any Sunday" back in the 70's. 50 years later I still enjoy touring on a motorcycle. The Himalayan is an ideal bike for exploring, easy to ride and maintain. Once I wear out my DRZ400 mini ADV bike I will be looking at buying a Himalayan. Ride Forrest; Ride!

RE definitely hit a niche with us late starters and the Himalayan! 48, just got my 'M' endorsement on the license, and I pick up a Himalayan tomorrow. Such a perfect starter bike and does just about everything I need. LOL about the MSF class.....first time I rolled around the parking lot it was all over. Like "yeah....gonna start shopping!"

I'm 48 years old and have always been fascinated by motorcycles; from Evil Knievel, Steve McQueen in The Great Escape, to the Fonz on Happy Days. Earlier this month I got my motorcycle learner's permit, and I will be taking the motorcycle safety course in April. You are never too old to learn or start something new. I appreciate your "motorcycle journey".✌🏽👍🏽

I am a Canadian living in B.C. About 20 years ago or more with a long distance ride of 75 miles on a 740 Yamaha being my longest ride, I sold it and was bike less . I found a 1150 BMW RT listed in the Buy and Sell and it was in Anaheim Calif. I hopped on a plane and flew down. It was at a BMW dealership and I got try it out on a half block dead end street. I liked it , set up temporary insurance , bought a helmet and set off. There was no gps navigation in those days. I basically memorized my route back and made it back safely in 2 days..I' have since then had another 2006 BMW 1200RT then sold it bought a Honda CBX500 { Very poor off road unless you spend big $ } I then was going to buy a Honda 300L,but they took for ever. I ended up buying my 2006 1200RT back from a friend I had sold it to who was getting a new one. Now at present Nov.2023 at age 81 I came across videos by Itchy Boot riding the new 2024 Himalayan and in the spring the RT gets sold and probably my last bike is will put the icing on the cake.

Love it! I have a similar story, but I've always loved the idea of bikes but always just told myself the story that I just wasn't a "motorcyclist" and didn't identify as one so unconsciously just excluded myself from riding. I got an eBike for easier close by commuting & the 2 wheeled bug got me real good. Then I realised the only thing stopping me from being a motorcyclist is actually doing it. Now I find myself here in a very similar situation, course done, license in hand & pretty keen on the idea of the Himalayan but not sure as my first bike & I think you've just sold me. I'm a photographer/content creator and really want to get out into the wilderness and explore a bit more but my car has been somewhat unreliable and not even close to suitable for some of the roads I want to frequent. Thanks for the encouragement!

Congratulations Chris! Your decision to take the course and get your license and buy your first motorcycle will definitely change your life! It sure did for me anyway lol, my only regret is, I didn’t do it sooner in life. Your decision on the Himalayan as the first motorcycle, I feel is a good one, let me know how it turns out, and thanks for riding along. My Canada trip will show you how well the Himalayan holds up for a long distance travel. Thanks again for watching.🍻😎👏👏👏🏍

@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV turns out my local Enfield dealer is no longer a dealer so it's proving difficult to get one! Plan now is to learn on a lesser bike and then make an adventure out of picking one up and riding it home when I've got some more confidence on the road

The motorcycle is secondary to the adventure. Sometimes the motorcycle provides the adventure. You're right, once you go on a first long moto trip, it becomes almost a calling. Your narration reminds me of Clement Salvadori's writing and he too toured the California coast multiple times on different bikes. Jupiter's Travels is one heck of a book that covers the global journey of a Triumph and a British journo.

For me, when I go on a motorcycle adventure I feel much more connected to that adventure, and that is due directly because of the motorcycle. I’ve gone on a lot of hiking and camping trips in my life but doing it off the back of my Himalayan somehow and I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it is different. I guess all I can say is I love this bike and live for the adventures is brings 😎 Cheers 🍻

About to turn 40, motorcycle classes in 3 weeks, been addicted to Royal Enfield for a week or two, never ridden a motorcycle, and an adventure bike was never on my list. But after sitting on the Himalayan at a couple dealers by me, and everyone’s reviews including yours, I’m sold. Thanks for the good vibes. Now I’ll have to ride it from Ohio to California!

Thanks for watching and congratulations on making the decision that will change your life! My only regret is that I did not get into motorcycles earlier in life. That is cool, fingers crossed on the borders for ya. I did not get a Himalayan, due to budget issues, I used my first covid stimulus check and a work bonus and bought a chinese dual sport. It is going on season three and it is still going. I was 53, had not ridden for 30 plus years. That motorcycle safety class hooked me as well. Ride all I can now too. I retire in 5 years to age gracefully on two wheels. Have a great season and ride safe.

Great piece Forrest, here in the UK if we want to travel a thousand miles in any direction it’s going to involve a boat ride, you lucky people could if you so desired could ride from the north of Alaska to the southern tip of South America no boat required. Did a couple of Google assisted calculations and came up with equivalent fuel cost. Your $13.41 for 2.484 USG equates to £10.13 for 9.403 ltrs = £1.08 per ltr whereas here in the UK we’re paying £1.45 per ltr. In short not only have you got much better weather than us you’ve also got far cheaper fuel. I hope your able to fulfil your 2022 journey, look forward to coming along for the ride.

Great video. Subbed to your channel. I like your easy going style. I've been down Hwy 299 a couple of times before in a vehicle with 16 more wheels..a truck lol. Watching all of the Himalayan videos I can. I have a HD Springer, but I want a low cost, anvil simple ADV bike that still looks like a motorcycle and I think the RE Himalayan fits that description. Any issues in those 13k Miles? Stay safe!

Thanks so much for subscribing and I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! One of the things I love about the Royal Enfield Himalayan is that throwback classic look. It’s how I think a motorcycle should be. All I can say is I love this bike and recommend it to everyone! To answer your question, I’ve had no issues within the 13,000 miles, I am now over 18,000 and still have no issues. Well actually there is one small one, the instrument gauge has rattled loose inside and I will have to open the glass and see about fixing it to stop the rattling noise lol, but other than that the bike is solid. Thanks again for watching and don’t forget to turn on the notification button, a new video came out today! 🍻😎 Forrest

Thanks for the compliment and welcome to the channel Shelley! I agree it’s not your typical review, I’m not a mechanic and the technical numbers don’t mean much to me, however I did want to express my views of the bike in a way that as a new rider, what it means for me. Great gas mileage, no problems on the highways, no problems with hills of other terrain, the conference that this bike instills. Numbers aside, this motorcycle takes me everywhere I want to go and therefore gets a great overall review from this new rider 😎 Thanks for watching Forrest

Well I don’t know anything about the Benelli, however I do know about the Himalayan and what that is like for a new rider. This bike is awesome and will take you everywhere you want to go as long as you don’t want to take an interstate Highway over 75 miles an hour to get there. Great vid+scenery! I really wanted a Himi originally then went off it a bit. After touring Wales on my 125 loved the slower sections and some off roading (by accident) am considering the Himalayan again... As its on the bigger side and I want to to do country lanes etc. Just hoping the 24bhp will be enough. The Welsh hills and the faster sections was struggling to get over 60mph...and didnt like people up my ass all the time. But maybe thats just a learner thing (here in Uk we learn on 125's). The other options for me would be the Tenere if I choose the Adv route..but that quite a lot more £££.
