NRPS is an 'insiders' band. They were on everyone's favorite list, but they never got radio play. Their albums always found their way onto the turntable during the evening. They were the essence of so many of the bands their friends played in. Jerry included. Great concert - THANK YOU so much for posting this !

This is one of the best recordings with Jerry Garcia that I've heard (not quality of recording - music). Jerry's musical muse shines brightly on this one, and the whole band is resonating together with Love. I love the Dead too, and Jerry's solo bands (saw them a few times), but this is a recording I treasure the most so far, and I will always love the NRPS first record too, with Jerry playing steel on it. I think he used it more as a steel guitar, and not the pedals and levers so much, but he had just learned how to play it. His mother died, and then the Dead did their two acoustic records, and Garcia did this one with NRPS. That is my favorite period of the Grateful Dead, and NRPS, back when everything was so different, and beautiful - a part of my life I will always treasure. It's an old recording, so sound is compressed, but the magic comes through loud and clear. Just imagining being there and hearing it live, that makes me feel so good...! Thanks for posting it. (RIP Garcia, Dawson, and the others - I know you are over the rainbow bridge still playing beautiful music..)

yes pharma dave I too relish the memories from that period of my life and the raw energy that the dead and riders delivered at live show....back before they had to deal with the bug business aspects that it eventually came....and of course jg on pedal stell...stellar....

Ditto on the above. I love west coast country rock and NRPS was one of my favs. In my later years I 'discovered' Jerry Garcia and am amazed at how many songs I liked that feature him on steel.
