I recently purchased this handgun. Today was its first trip to the range with me. Here are the first impressions from a 10 yr. Army Vet, 23 years LEO. Seventeen of those as an FI. The pistol does shoot softer than my G47. But IMHO, the difference is not super noticeable. Accuracy is pretty good. Sights are very serviceable. 15 shots at 15 yds resulted in about 1 to 1.5 MOA with about 2 sec. interval between shots. The trigger feels and performs better than my G19 Gen 5 that has about 5k rounds through it. As some of the reviews point out, the grip texture is where this pistol fails. The side panels are great. But I don't understand why RIA decided to do these non functional serrations on the front and back straps. They should have stuck with the same or slightly less aggressive texture as the side panels. As a result, my hands were slipping off a bit on an 87°- 70% humidity day. The 3x15 and 2x15 successive mag dumps gave me all projectiles within an 8" circle. Except for 1 outlier that ended up about 4" up and right from the POA. Idk if improvements have been done on this pistol since it first hit the market, but I found no evidence of the claim that the 1:16 barrel has problems stabilizing heavier grain bullets. I tried Winchester 124 and Speer 147 HP. No keyholing of any kind. All in all, this pistol performed well. 150 rounds straight out of the box with no malfunctions. I will continue shooting it without cleaning it until I can experience and identify some sort of failure.

But I wouldn't mind a Glock that came with an aluminium frame as an option. Not to say there is anything wrong with their polymer frames cos I have used my Glock in cold weather, hot weather, sleeping on it and sliding down a rocky embankment after I fell and it still feels solid with no visible cracks. But a aluminium frame would certainly make me feel more comfortable with my Glock 34 gen 5 FS MOS and G17L being turned into family heirlooms. In all fairness, a model T is probably more reliable than a mustang 😆

I somewhat doubt it. The model T was ancient with a million parts

If I was stuck with 1911s. I would probably do a rock island 1911 over a Springfield armory or a kimber even. I'm not a 1911 guy but rock island does make a good 1911 for the value.

Why do these shooter sponsors insist they dress all the competitors like Lance Armstrong?

Looks like fun! Great work rock island. Great work looks like a winner. I like that aluminum frame and that slide to swap around with.

Probably get this over the PSA dagger
@Chris13FIST3 жыл бұрын
that's a no brainer, PSA makes stuff for people that lack funds and live in the hills and it's junk. Rock island is cheap but it seems to be quality

It would be more interesting if you made the bottom end like a 1911 with the grips and a Glock top end with a ported barrel, now that's something id buy

Can we get it in California since it's a "gen 3" glock clone? I'm half serious and half joking.
@echofoxtrotwhiskey15953 жыл бұрын
From what I understand of Cali law, you can still own it, you just have to get it out of state and use 10 rd mags right?
@andreivaldez29293 жыл бұрын
Short Answer: No. Long Answer: California has the CA Handgun Roster - it is a list of approved handguns for sale here. There are some hoops you can jump to buy an off-roster handgun (I implore you to look for someone selling one to see ongoing scalping by cops who aren't beholden to the Handgun Roster) but it's usually not worth it. The handgun roster has not added any new semiautomatic handguns in years, hence why Gen 3 Glocks are the only Glocks on there. No manufacturer wants to meet the requirements to add a handgun to that roster, and even so, any new handgun added to the roster means 3 older handguns on the roster *Must* be removed (presumably done this way so it eventually removes handguns from sale here since companies are slowly pulling guns from production that are on the roster.

@@andreivaldez2929 But That’s just being SOLD in Cali right? Or is that things you can own?
@thecouldntbe3 жыл бұрын
@@andreivaldez2929 thanks for the explanation. Now I know why people in Cali always say Gen 3's are the best Glocks, because it's the only ones they can own!
@andreivaldez29293 жыл бұрын
You are correct. There are ways around it, typically through out of state relatives transfering ownership to you, or knowing an LEO who sells you their own off-roster handgun. Assault Weapons Ban still applies to that handgun so no threaded barrels (welded-on comps or ported barrels are ok), but rifle-style pistols need to be modified in two ways: non-detachable, 10 round magazines; or detachable magazines with manual operating systems.
