THIS EPISODE LAST YEAR: A carabao Cup match with Premier League side AFC Bournemouth awaited Sutton, and while Coman scored early, Bournemouth equalized at the start of the second half. The match would go to penalties, where some absolutely brutal PC lag caused Sutton to lose 5-4 in pens. In the next match against Charlton, Sutton took off to a 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes, extending to 3-0 by the 24th minute. The match would conclude 4-0 (Zachariasen, Coman scoring, Dufresne brace). A big match against 2nd place Sunderland awaited next, where Sutton would fight late for a 2-0 win (Coman, Ion scoring). Kurbanov, however, suffered a broken toe in that match, and Coman got a national team call up for Romania. Wondimu Mekonen and Luigi Farina were promoted to the senior team. In the final match of the episode against Southampton, Sutton conceded early, but Molotov put an excellent cross in to Hardy for a stoppage-time equalizer, ending the match 1-1.
