NEW ROUTE 310 EXPLAINED (FIRST DAY) Stagecoach's TRANSFERRED MMCs (TfL Bus Changes + Observations)

Today is the first day of London bus route 310. This is a completely new "trial" route, running from Golders Green to Stamford Hill. This was part of an election pledge by Mayor Sadiq Kahn. He proposed a new direct link between the two locations due to antisemitism. The original plan was to reroute the 210 using single deckers.
Route 310 runs from Golders Green Station, To Stamford Hill Broadway. Via Hampstead Heath, Highgate Village, Archway Station, Crouch Hill Station, Finsbury Park Station, Manor House Station, and Stamford Hill Station.
Route 310 follows the 210 from Golders Green to Finsbury Park, And follows routes 253 and 254 from Finsbury Park to Stamford Hill Broadway.
Route 310 runs every 20 minutes. The route only runs from 07:00 AM until 20:11 PM. Route 310 was originally planned to start yesterday (Saturday).
This new route is run by Stagecoach London. It is on a one year contract, And is using Enviro 200 MMCs. The YX68 MMCs were transferred from Rainham (RM) garage, Where they were used on route 165, before being replaced by Enviro 400s. The others are ex HCT Group MMCs.
A consultation is currently being held on route 310. It can be found at haveyoursay.tf... and on posters put along the route. The 310 currently runs from Ash Grove (HK) garage. The route has a peak vehicle requirement of 8. A full journey on the route takes around 50 minutes.
Route 310 is restricted to single deckers due to a low bridge at Finsbury Park. Route 310 connects with several rail lines, Including with the London Overground at Stamford Hill, The Piccadilly line at Manor House and Finsbury Park, The Victoria and Piccadilly lines and National Rail at Finsbury Park, And the Northern Line at Archway and Golders Green. This is possibly the first time a new London bus route has been launched on a Sunday, As bus changes usually happen on Saturdays. Interestingly, route 310 does not serve Finsbury Park bus station. Route 310 starts at stop CV at Stamford Hill. The route starts and ends outside Golders Green bus station.

I think the 310 needs new extensions extension to west hampstead and then 253 to clapton pond then 55 to lea bridge the it will have its own stops comtiueing lea bridge station legion graplling academy overton road staffa road terminating at walthamstow argall avenue making it even more usefull as single decker buses normally has its own stops

Nice Video! I hope 310 follows it's own route after the trial as I'm not a fan of how it parallels over half the 210. I like how it's the only Stagecoach route in the area as well. The iBus announcement is horrible and should be changed immediately.

Yeah it feels like this route was rushed to me, the iBus sounds terrible and they probably just stitched together the audio recordings. It should definitely be rerouted next year, hopefully avoiding that low bridge so they can put DDs on it. Or maybe reroute the 210 to Stamford Hill but avoiding the low bridge through Harringay/Holloway but still serving Finsbury Park via a loop. And yeah Stagecoach brings some nice variety to the areas, I wonder if they'll manage to keep it next time.

Tbh I kind of agree, it did seem a bit pointless when I first heard the news but it is a better solution than to reroute and single deck the 210.

But to be fair, I did see quite a few passengers (real ones, not just enthusiasts!) use this route, although it was probably because the 310 showed up before a 210. The section between Finsbury Park and Stamford Hill is not that well used from what I've seen. It's also pretty inconvenient that there's no stop close to Finsbury Park station but I guess the whole point of the route is to provide a direct service (hopefully they'll add one under the bridge after the consultation closes). And yeah, that iBus is so strange

I would also change the unnecessary turn to rock street and make the 310 turn into the Finsbury park interchange anyways.

They could've made the Finsbury Park section a double run so the 210s then go up Upper Tollington Park via the W5 and then via the 29/141/243 to Manor House and then onto Stamford Hill. Not a useless bus, despite what it seems on the surface. For literally over a decade (check the London Assembly questions asked on the matter) a direct service between these two places has been wanted, due to several factors which I shall explain: 1. Many charedi (ultra-orthodox) Jews do not drive and need to travel between these two places for work/family. 2. There have been repeated anti-semitic attacks on people making this journey who are changing buses at Finsbury Park, and these have likely gotten far worse and more frequent since October 2023 due to the current political climate. I’m talking about a 500-600% increase over the number of incidents of this kind in previous years.

Good points there, but is there any reason why the service doesn't operate after 7 PM since buses become less frequent and it gets darker and therefore possibly more dangerous?

I think it's a good service but TfL should change the routeing so it doesn't follow the exact same route as the 210 and 253/254. It would still be a direct bus between Golders Green and Stamford Hill if it went via Holloway or Harringay. It'd just take a bit longer but would also increase usage and allow for double deckers if other routes avoiding the low bridge were chosen.

Icl overall this bus route is cold, bc the places it goes and the train stns it connects it will defo be useful for me bc one time I actually needed such thing up and running it's good that they applied it now. and thx for that info at 1:56 , it's good to know such things. Also could you have showed the interior when playing the Ibus audio? The video would've been much better that way. Finally 20 minutes for a good bus route like this is fcked it should've been 10 minutes imo.

Yeah the interiors aren't really that special but I'll consider it in future videos. And I think it's actually alright as a 20 minute service. It doesn't need to be more frequent (in its current routeing) since the 210 and 253/254 are frequent enough and the 310 is supposed to be a direct bus. If you missed a 310 you could either wait for the next one or just take the 253/254 (which basically provide an every 3 minute service) and the 210, which is less frequent but people can just wait for the next one.

This route is pointless, it just follows 253/254 which are already frequent and 90% of 210s route. It should’ve been run via 67 to TPL then 144 to Muswell Hill via Hornsey then 102 via East Finchley to Golders Green, that would be more useful because then TPL and Hornsey have a route to NW London and that would benefit everyone and not just the Jewish Community.
