Probably my favorite way. Grill might be different, the method is interchangeable though. YT is great for ideas,

This is definitely a dream cooker. My only suggestion for lone star would be to add an additional perpendicular layer of expanded metal to the coal racks to keep those smaller coals from falling through. Looks like the backyard is getting crowded!

The other thing is the fact that the brasero design doesn't allow you to sweep the coals from the brasero box to the cooking chamber. Having to shovel them all the way out and then back in seems like a pain. I'm sure they can come up with a design that integrates the brasero into the cook chamber

So I watch videos all the time about these grills and I always come back to your's wich is very fun and informative! I got mine in Costco in Goleta, CA for $299 it's made by Santa Maria Grills. 20x30". Very common around here in the 805. I also added a charcoal/wood grate to keep the coals up off the bottom for better air flow under the wood so you have better airflow and cleaner burning wood.

Expanded metal cooking grates is what this model used to come with, I know because I have one. Unfortunately I took delivery of my LSG SMG last December and to my disappointment this grill was updated to include these new style grates you are showcasing like a month later. If I had only known or been informed, by LSG while My SMG was still in production, i would have gladly waited a month or longer for this new grate, and gladly paid more as well.

Looks like a really well designed and built grill - as one would probably expect of LSG. I’m a little surprised that the crank wheel isn’t standard. It seems like it usually is on ones that nice. Not a criticism - I’m always okay with people giving me the option to save some money if I choose.

Great review. I just ordered my Oca-Brazil 11 skewer rotisserie system. I plan on talking to Lone Star Grillz about fabricating a custom bottom for it, I think that Santa Maria would work. I just need the bottom with custom dimensions without the lifting mechanism for this Brazilian steakhouse style rotisserie.

Lots of time in Paso Robles CA where this style rules, especially when cooking for a big crowd. Fun watching the action in retail parking lots cooking a dozen each of tri tips and chickens (at least) plus sides. Seeing and smelling the food cooking while driving by brings 'em in. You have to see to believe it.

That's super nice! Love the ash cleaning and stainless steel dump. That cover looks huge!! I always worry with embers drifting into the air and creating 'problems' for me or a neighbor with these type of grills. Not sure if I'm just being paranoid. So I have a Charcoal grill with a crank handle to raise and lower the charcoal bed and typical BBQ grill metal cover. Definitely not as sexy.

I don't think you are paranoid. I won't use the brassero on a really windy day, but I don't think it will be an issue under normal circumstances in the main chamber with the access door up. It's really deep. It's important to be careful though.

The only issue I see with this grill is the expanded metal for the hot coals. This will not last long. I would use either small bar stock or angel iron like the V grate but smaller size. I have used expanded metal like what is shown here but it has not lasted more than 2 years before it wears away and there is a big hole.

I love that side firebox and the ability to shovel hot coals to the places where you want them... this lone start stuff is serious stuff.... maybe one of these days I'll get one of those...
