We fought a protracted war with Vietnam resulting in the deaths of over 55 thousand American lives yet we normalized relations with that communist regime within two years and have benefited from it. We have foolishly tried to isolate Cuba resulting in pushing them into the arms of the USSR first and now to China. While the US (government) hasn't had a great track record amongst the places they go, you really don't want China (the government) to be in control of anything. If you know anything about either countries' history and how they operate, you'll understand why. You should learn about it instead of asking for some random people to feed you info that may or may not be correct. But the shortest explanation is: "US bad" (at the bad things they've done, so far in their short existence, but at least they try and fix a lot of stuff - by having SECURITY), "but CN is way worse" (throughout their history of 2000+ years, and still aren't stopping to help anyone but their selves, even with that, they're terrible at helping their selves, let alone others). @@NotTheFlag1 ..."right to defend themselves"... is usually a catch phrase for terrorist groups. Something is lost in the translation. As it is not sufficient reason for the US not to blow them up. Rights without responsibilities.
