The retcon of Shadow vs Emerl alone just makes this game become a whole lot more interesting. I mean it’s one thing to see it animated, but it would be a whole other thing to playing it out in the game itself.

I’m a huge sonic fan. But details surrounding emrl is confusing since his backstory comes from tiny random places. I didn’t know he was on the ark with shadow. Emrl and Gemrl are some of my favorite characters, so I’m EXTREMELY excited to see a bit of the story that originally happened off screen

Shadow being shocked by the touch means that maria never touched shadow at least without permission, she waited for him so say he could that is what he hates, so when she did that shadow hesitated, as maria wouldnt do that usually so it broke the illusion a bit i think there are small cracks in dooms illusion so thats gonna be a plot point but hey thats just a theory

Not to immediately turn you down because this is plausible, and I think that would be an interesting concept. However, it could also be because like you said it's still an illusion just like how you can't touch a hologram, or better yet, your shadow ;)

It’s probably a mix of everything. Shadow probably feels inconsistencys in the illusion. When he directly interacts with Maria the inconsistencys are probably stronger.

I cool all three episodes involve Maria in some away because there isn’t much opportunity to get to know know her. I think the glitch thing isn’t black doom influenced and it’s just shadow remembering that moment because it’s the most hurtful. I think all of this is just a chronological retelling that leads into the plot of the game and that’s where black doom shinangans start

My theoy is that eggman was experimenting with cyberspace space after frontires but it was with the emralds. And we know that are capable of time travel but I think the cyberspace aspect can explain some glitch effects shown in the game and animation. Of course he is not just in cyberspace but I think it's spliced with the emralds time travel. But the way he went back in time is important because i think he was physically reset to where he was in white space but with all his memories

Not only that We're getting more of Shadow's Backstory but we're also seeing the Return of Emerl/Gemerl. I really do hope that we'll get a voice reveal for Emerl/Gemerl and if I had to make a guess on who should voice him then my choices would be either Josh Keaton,Rob Paulsen,Kaiji Tang,Khary Payton or Rino Romano.

someone had a theory that the stuff shadow is seeing on the game teaser like with radical highway distorted and stuff is because of the phantom ruby, perhaps black doom used the phantom ruby with the time eater? or perhaps black doom IS the creator of the phantom ruby. i mean we know it can do wacky stuff like we see in metropolis of sonic forces

what if this prologue pointing to shadow being sent back in time, why he gets flashes of gun soldier when maria grabs him. maybe he can save her if he knows what happen, if black doom sent him back. since when she grabbed his arm, he got disturbing flashes of gun....

Now for I think the glitch effect could be actually be infinite's because he also makes illusions about the person's past experiences and trauma like he did in forces I know its a stupid prediction but since this is giving insight to shadow's past. And since Shadow was the reason Infinite became a villain its not out of the realm of possibility
