I needed a new set of boots for the Defender and it came down to the BFG AT KO2 or the Cooper ST MAXX
Now can the BFG keep the crown I'm not soo sure and time will tell I'll keep you posted with regular updates.

Interesting. Your sidewall says GOODYEAR and then mysteriously changed to COOPER. Yes, Goodyear owns Cooper now but not when this video was made.

The spare that I used for the DOT code and date stamp part is still the OE spare Goodyear wrangler that she came out of the factory on. It's a new spare so no need to replace. and yes I see the Goodyear takeover. It'll be interesting to see how that pans out. :)

I had Cooper ST Maxx tyres. Got about 80,000k on 5 tyres. Still plenty of tread but they were 8 years old and needed replacing. Thought about BFG AT K02. But decided on Falken Wildpeak AT4W because i saw a lot of good reviews, good on wet roads (important to me) and the price was much better than the other two. The Coopers were a great tyre though, I loved the big tread and sidewall strength. So hope I’ve made the right choice. Early days.

So how are you liking the falkens compared to the coopers?

.. of course Mickey Thompson ATZ-p3 (yes, made by Cooper) has the same construction as the Cooper tires/tyres. I’ve been running the Mickey T’s and despite having had a great run with them, I’m now going with the Cooper ST Maxx. M now

I had the Cooper AT3 on a Chevy 2500 HD and they wore out crazy fast (to their credit, the truck had an alignment issue though so uneven wear) Thinking of trying these ST maxx on my F250. Im also looking at the Generals X3 or the Nokian Rockproof (a tire I didnt know about till recently with very good reviews)

I replaced my 2 front tires with these tires on my GMC 3500 diesel truck. I'm always in the landfill where there mud, broken glass, nails, wood, and other sharp materials. So far these tires don't get stuck or have gotten a flat tire. Plus they are quiet on the highway.

Glad you like them. Whilst the defender is nothing as great as a 3500, Round rubber is all the same.

They look great too. Aggressive but sharp and contained. Really adds to the look of the truck.

Think I’m going to go for a set of these. I need more mud traction that a standard AT (running Evergreens at the minute which I’ve been pleased with generally) but don’t want a mud tyre. The only other one I’ve seen which might fit the bill is the new BFG KM3 but it will be very expensive and is an unknown quantity at the moment of course. Thanks for the review.

Just saw these in person on an f150 and they caught my eye. They are some of the best looking tires I've seen and with the extra tread depth and big outer lugs they should last a good while and give great traction. They're getting great reviews so I think you'll be very happy with them.

Is there an option for white lettering if you flipped the tire around?

You can get the ST maxx in a WSL (White Sidewall Lettering) you would have to talk to your tyre supplier.

Great TBH. As with all tyres they haven't got any noticeably louder and seem to be wearing really well. I don't do a huge mileage at the minute even so handling and braking performance are excellent. The march snow was no problem and in slimy mud dropping to 15psi range they still gave good grip, self cleaning is great and they don't retain stones 1/2 as much as the old goodyears. I haven't regretted buying them.

radiator0 cooper are American and probably the best tyres ever made. I've got these and I've done 45,000 miles and there's still 50% tread left and the traction in any terrain is fantastic.

I have yokohama go12 and I have problems with snow traction. I am pretty scarred to drive them, particularly in corners because front tires are losing traction, and continue to go straight ahead... Do I need more siped on st maxx for winter. Studded tires are against the law here

Nothing is going to be as good as a true winter tyre. (e.g the Nokian Hakkapalittlia (SP?) ) IMHO the ST maxx performed great in the Beat from the East last year. (Check out Snow Way through) Driven correctly then you have a confident ride. Snow varies seriously from powder to very thick heavy stuff. the worst combo is snow that lays on a frozen surface. This portrays an ok surface but still acts like sheet ice. If you can lock your 4WD system either though engaging 4Wheel HI or locked Centre Differential then this on snow covered roads will balance the power to the road and stop that pushing on that can happen on corners, this is caused as the front wheels struggle to do both drive and steer, but the rears only drive. The use of locked 4WD will help on these surfaces.

Hi Ian. Shortly going to do a one year update. only covered 9K miles this year, but enough to get a good idea of how they perform on the road and in the mud and rocks. Still haven't got out onto the sand in a major way but hopefully / maybe this year.
