The Skoda Kodiaq is really a brilliant car, I'm a lucky owner of the previous model. Diesel 150 HP, 4x4, 7 seater, 7 gear automatic, just excellent, I really can recommend it and thanks to Skoda they didn't change a lot. Wasn't taken away by the presentation KIA advertising and finally, the cars weight is not over 2 tons, it's actually around 1600 kg.

Why do you make such a fuss about there only being petrol and diesel models of the Kodiak? For the time being, they are fine for most people. Hybrids are a slightly silly compromise. One day we might all have electric cars, and Ines that were designed from the ground up to be electric. This car was designed to be petrol/diesel powered and that’s fine for now.

I’ve just driven this car on the east coast Australia with just over 5k miles on the clock. 2 niggles the automatic console driving positions are marked in white and the light that illuminates the said drive position were also in white which made it sometimes difficult in direct sunlight to check what gear you are in which after a while it started to irritate. How product and design can make such a schoolboy howler like this is beyond belief. The second point was the car was a little noisy on the motorway with wind and tyres apart from that the car was defiantly a nice and comfy to drive.

Another great review Nicola! The brilliant comment about the orchestra members wishing that they lived closer ruined yet another keyboard (I might have to think about sending a bill or banning having a drink a while watching reviews). When it was first released I came close to getting one. The space was fantastic and it was all very well nailed together but where I live or should I say park with lets say 'creative' parking of other people (think, the cars have stopped and the driver got out if you get my drift) I ended up with the Kodiaq's smaller sister. I could still be tempted for one of the mid life facelifted versions with 7 seats as people will think I have some friends (I don't), but even though in a few months I have to decide if I want to keep my current car (nothing wrong with it although it looks like I only have 4 friends (I still don't have any)) I might just give this one a test and who knows what I'll decide. There are a few others I'd like to try but the others would be restricted to those 4 imaginary friends.

It’s interesting how the landscape has changed in less than a year. 12 months ago electric cars were all the rage and people in the UK were paying way over the odds to get one. Now many electric car owners realise that trying to find a charging point that works or one that they don’t have to wait hours for is a rarity. 12 months ago all electric Skoda Enyaq was over £40k. Now the price is around £34k. The sales of electric cars have slowed right down due to poor charging infrastructure. Petrols and diesels are starting to look attractive again.

@zappybazinga81242 жыл бұрын
They are a different class of car. The Kia version of the Kodiaq is the Sorento. The Kodiaq starts at £31K the Sorento at over £40K. The Skoda has a little more space and more boot space. The Kia is a little plusher inside as you’d expect for a car priced above the luxury price point. But I’d say there isn’t a huge amount in it. If you get the SEL Executive kodiaq you get full leather seats, electric drivers seat, reversing camera etc…it’s good enough for a family car and saves you quite a bit on the Kia. I like the Kia cars a lot and the sportage is the best mid size suv around at the minute. But they are creeping price wise to a point where you could get an Audi or Merc…whereas Skoda stay in the VW price range yet offer better interior quality than VW now in many cases.

You failed to mention that with “tons” of space in the middle row, they can slide and recline given the 3 row passengers seating more space… Although, as an owner of the VRS fuel consumption isn’t great (As expected 28-38mpg) the 2.0 190 hp isn’t either (around 32-42mpg) maximum top speed of 123 mph (198 km/h), a curb weight of 3779 lbs (1714 kgs), the Kodiaq 2.0 TDI 150HP DSG 7-seats has a turbocharged Inline 4 cylinder engine Bug points… windshield washer fluid runs out quickly due to washing headlights first (constantly topping up) steering can come across a little vague at times, even in sports mode. Plus points… too many to mention (great all round car) Finally… road tax after 3 years is around £500 😳

I still don't understand where the Touareg fits between this and the Q7... Yeah, the hybrid/more engine choice and slightly fancier interior but seriously, the Polo and Passat are disappearing because of the Fabia and Octavia, now theyre killing the Touareg, why? Skodas are almost as premium and the exteriors look better than VWs, with their bland and boring minimalism.

@@oliverstemp9132 well, it's not that theyre extinct (yet), it's just that the Skoda counterparts are doing much better. The thing is both brands stand for pretty much the same values of value/quality, with Skoda being both cheaper and less boring in design and in some cases succeeding where the VW badge failed (Superb over Pheaton). Renault is doing a great job keeping Dacia a few elbows away from the main brand but VW, I dont get whet theyre doing with Skoda, the two lines are soooo much overlapping that in most cases you get the same cars , just different badges and prices.
