The Sparrow Slingshot by Zachary Fowler is a newer release from Simpleshot. I get it all set up exactly how I like it, take it outside by the river and have some fun shooting a can. After plinking through a pouch of biodegradable ammo, I share my first impression after my first time using it. Just a little hint, it's by far one of the best slingshots I've ever had an opportunity to use. Will definitely be ordering more from Simpleshot!
(THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED VIDEO! ALL PRODUCTS WERE PURCHASED BY ME.)
I've been a fan of slingshots for quite a while now. It's just good clean fun, and time well spent in the outdoors. I enjoy it more and more each time I get out there and practice it. And as my skill has increased, so has my enjoyment of the sport. Expect to see much more slingshot-themed videos from me as summer hits and I'm able to get out more often.
Learning how to cut and tie your own bands and pouches will increase your understanding of how a slingshot works. I definitely recommend it, but you'll want to make sure you know what you're doing. An improperly cut or poorly tied band set could result in slingshot failure which can seriously hurt you or those around you.
Purchase your own Sparrow Slingshot here and tell them, Jude, from SurvivoTek sent you!

Yeah, I like to cut and prep my own bands for shooting. I've seen those pocket shots. Just trying to get really good at the regular slingshot before branching out. Never tried the Scout frame. Do you have one? Cause I feel like the forks stand a little too tall for my style of shooting. That's my problem with the Axiom Ocularis. For now, it's either the Torque or the Sparrow.

I carved a slingshot from an applewood branch a few weeks ago, but was disappointed that I couldn't hit my target 40 yards away using gravel, maybe now I'm less disappointed.

Just bought the wife a Sparrow. Offered to make her a bandset for my Scout LT to use since I shoot half butterfly and she was like nah Ill just get my own slingshot that way you dont have to take off your bands... ❤️ Is the stove you are using a solo stove or bushbuddy?
@SurvivoTek

The sparrow is a great slingshot frame. My favorite one I own. Super great to hear you and your wife share a hobby like slingshots. This stove is actually a bushbuddy I picked up 3 or so years ago. I love it.

@@SurvivoTek @SurvivoTek Yeah I just recently got back into slingshots. Picked up the Scout LT after watching Zach's Smokey Mountain trip. I bought the crystal string for making my own bandsets, would that be fine to use to attach the bands to the sparrow or would I want to use a thicker latex or just use a string? Also any suggestion for a bandset (and taper) for clay ammo? I haven't shot any yet but I'm sure my current bands for 3/8 steel (0.7 1/2"x3/4" taper) would be too much for light clay ammo. I've heard the Bushbuddy stoves are very efficient and don't soot up the bottom of the pots as bad as other stoves. I've got a ti firebox nano and a Toaks small gasifier stove..

That’s awesome! Yeah, Zach is a great shooter. I’ve been experimenting with a 3/4”-1/2” taper, but my bands are only around 6.5” long for anchoring at the cheek. Seems to work well enough for my draw length. I usually use excess latex or band material from discarded bands for attaching my new bands to the frame. I feel like the string might dig into the material and cause micro tears. That bushbuddy is pretty amazing. When I dump out the ash, there’s barely any in there. Super efficient burning stove. I’ve probably cooked dozens of meals on it.

@@SurvivoTek thanks, one more question not sure if youd know, but i cant shoot butterfly, whats the best thickness bands for the regular shooting style
@SurvivoTek
@SurvivoTek 2 ай бұрын
@@Alex-kq1sv That is a fantastic question, I did quite a bit of testing on this myself - bought every band thickness I could and shot every ammo size. Ultimately, I found that 0.6mm is the best all around thickness. But if you shoot a lot of light ammo (like clay or plastic) go thinner. It depends on your ammo more than your draw length.
